I've tried that Mark, it just feels totally alien, awkward and non-repetitive to me. When I push forward after pulling the stick back partially, I get banana lines that miss the hole by several feet. If I pull the stick back fully then I have no issue with making a straight or straightish line with my upswing. It's as though HB went out and made the game that's totally opposite to what I'd have wanted. EDIT - So this is weird: I was struggling badly tempo wise with the controller that I was using and getting a lot of hitching on the swing. I had calibrated my swing but it didn't seem any better for doing that. I decided to try another controller as my frustration levels were through the roof: unbelievably the other controller felt pretty good right away, not perfect but much better - with the calibration from the first controller Now I'm not hitting perfect after perfect, but I'm getting way more than I did before. I'm actually able to play for the fast downswing on purpose when I feel that I need to. Tempo outcomes seem a little more in line with the swing that I made, rather than being a mystery most of the time with the other controller. As for the putting, I'm still unable to produce a slow backswing with the grip that have, but at least this controller seems to go forward and backwards most of the time without getting stuck, or not moving backwards at all like my other one at times. I'm just going to have to play with the lightning putting stroke and try to get some sort of feel for it. Don't try for slow backswings with the putter its so unreliable. Learn to put the same speed as your full shots so you can keep your putting line straight-ish. It'll take you 10-20 minutes on the practice green and when it finally clicks you'll thank me.
Edit: In terms of finding the correct backswing length don't count like in previous games Ie 1 second / 10ft or whatever. You can use markers on the green that will show you when to push forward on the stick. Whether it be your golfers foot, a tree shadow, the green grid line. You may blow one past the hole or end up short sometimes but overall its much better than getting the correct tempo on a 6ft putt and missing a cup or two left with the slow backswing.
I'm Mighty Habs and i dont really care the way you play! Welcome back Slooner Math. Did i have to put a point ?

One should also ask themselves this question when looking at the scores shot in this event.... Would some of these scores pass an api check? Did you watch my R1? Amazed if that fails API. Can’t see push / pull being a thing this year, so we’d be looking for backswing % and tempo scripts, plus good old straight shooting.

As a former flick swinger, I tried to do the flick swing to see how it reacts in this game, but it doesn't do anything but reset back to square one.

Top players will likely destroy it, but I recommend the Elite Tour event at St. Andrews currently available...

Not saying all good rounds are bad... or that yours was bad... but I’d bet my virtual paycheck some of the top scores wouldn’t pass API. The push swing is still a thing... it does a good job of counteracting the fast hook... I just don’t think it’s as consistent as it was, so may or may not be an issue

I'd agree re push swing - think we are going to need the Push / Pull metric even more this game - as fast hook, plus massive push outside the cone on the right (or vice versa for left handers) is going to be the way for best control plus distance

If the push swing doesn’t create a more accurate result than a straight swing (regards % of deviation though loft / spin ranges) then it should be allowed in my opinion. No issue at all with people playing with creativity, as long as the penalty for deviation of plane is equal. Needs some testing, but I’m quite confident it won’t be the same as before.

I think the swing is too fast & snappy to keep it in the cone regularly, unlike before. The swing shouldn't be regulated unless it proves an unfair advantage. The 2 API restraints before were proven to be advantageous, then the culprits burned as witches by the mob...

This game has no push mechanic exploit from what ives seen so api needs a rethink on that issue. With the line being so small in these settings its a disadvantage to push you can push it perfect and you can push a fast but club dependant the it affected both line and distance. If you loft it and push it its going short of distance unless you hit a fast. Its now a push draw like in real golf. The problem with tgc2019 was once the push exploit was published every man and his dog who had a wonky swing became a pga player overnight. The api should be aimed to pick up 100% perfect tempo and straight shooting. It wont be long before someone writes a script for tempo. I havent came across anyone who can hit 100% perfects thru 18 holes. If i get 15 im over the moon. Id go as far to say Its impossible to hit 100% perfect tempo 85% of the time. Im really enjoying it tho as im having to think about every single shot and there are no gimmees. Practice swings galore is the key as every shot tempo differs dependant on the shot type. You cant just pick it up and blast round in 15mins anymore.

I haven’t gotten a perfect in two days and have easily played a dozen rounds. 🤷🏼♂️ #patchGate
