I started this course on 2019 and finished it off with the new planting options on 2K21. This course is inspired by the idea of a deep gulch (or canyon) that has a river and different ecosystem than the highland deserts around it. Elevation change over this course is over 500 feet with several holes playing up or down by at least 100 feet. So club selection is a challenge. My signature 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6 par 5s is in play again (like Storm King Golf Resort). The back decks are over 7500 yards - BUT... much of that is gobbled up easily with some big downhill shots. Plays more like 7000. Same goes for the middle decks that are over 7000, but play more like 6700. The four pin placements all have an equal number of easy, moderate and difficult challenges. In saying that.... back decks are for those of you that destroy the game with -20 rounds. So it's meant to be a challenge. The middle decks are the sweet spot for challenge and reward and us that shoot close to par each round. The front decks are for beginners. You really don't want to be off the green stuff - but I've given lots of fairway to work with. Lot's of strategy and options out there - and like Storm King, each time you play you will learn something new to use on the next round. Lighting is high noon so you can adjust to however you see fit. Enjoy.

I did a playthrough on youtube for those that want to see the entire course and see how poorly I play the game!

I did a playthrough on youtube for those that want to see the entire course and see how poorly I play the game! Desert courses aren’t my favourite but I will give it a play looks good. I’m interested in how you created the terrain.

Just played this MAXED out on PS4 Maximum Daily. I don’t think anyone will break par and we have some top players.

Just gave this a go from the white tees. Super fun! Felt challenging, but fair. Finished -2 on ProAm difficulty (I'm new to golf games). Beautiful looking course as well. Great job!

Thank everyone! I see the best score so far is -11 and someone also shot -7.
Over on youtube, there's been over a thousand folks in the last several days check this out with some good feedback. I've had a few requests to do some tutorials on building courses with the course designer - so that's the next project. My take will be more on how to relate my real-life experience building golf courses to how it's done on the 2k21 designer.
I think the secret to this course designer (and was in 2019) is to use real-life principals in golf course design and let the game engineers/programmers keep improving the game so that ball physics, terrain and environment complement reality. Love how 2K21 feels during gameplay and how that's impacting design.
I've never loved desert courses, but this experiment turned into a full project that sucked me in.....hours and hours of terrain shaping and individual plantings paid off.

Thanks for the kind words. -2 is a GREAT score on Rattlesnake! I pleasantly surprised at the attention this course is getting. There are thousands of views of my playthrough and strategy video on youtube now and other people are now playing the course and putting it on youtube themselves for me to watch! If you liked this course then you should give Storm King Golf Resort a play as well. Folks that liked Rattlesnake usually like Storm King just as much. Here is the video to see my playthrough and discussion of Storm King 2k21: For those that haven't watched the Rattlesnake Gulch playthrough and commentary then here is the video for that as well:
