Just letting everyone know, I've just published a recreation of the Old Course @ The National GC,Victoria.
It's called 'Dusty Dunes' (will change name for final version)
I've only had the pleasure of playing the course once in real life, but instantly fell in love the place. I've recreated it to the best of my ability using hole flyovers and google earth(& a fair bit of inside knowledge from a member)
Would love to know what everyone thinks and any feedback on adjustments that need to be made before I release the final version

I'll check it out at some stage in the next few days. I've played all 3 courses there (albeit many years ago now) with the Old Course being my favourite. I lost too many f'ing balls on Norman's course . Also, try and grab some screenshots etc in future for these threads to entice people to check it out.

Thanks so much for the photo karma4u. I created it on PS4 and not sure how to take/upload photos.
For anyone interested, the updated beta is called TPC The Bear Trap v2. A couple of holes to still tweak on the back 9, but hopefully The Old Course @ The Nash will be ready next week

Course looks great from the overhead view. I also design on PS4 and have started to take a vid of the flyovers of some holes and upload them to YouTube and then copy the links into the thread here so people can have a look.

Awesome unique atmosphere with the sempervivum-like shrubs framing the holes. And love the undulating fairways and greens. Can't believe this course is real.

Stoked u liked it rcknfrewld. Yeah it feels like a fantasy course in real life. Amazing place which is almost too hard if the wind is blowing and you're off the back pegs. As soon as this lockdown ends, I'm there. I've been working closely with the current Club Champion to get it as close to the real thing as possible. So it's been updated a few times as he keeps telling me to toughen it up. Only a few little tweaks to go (I think/hope), but latest version is 'Bear can't flick gc2'

But we need to work on the name of the course.

Enjoyed it man. Well done. It seemed to play true to how I recall but it has been quite a few years for me. I know how hard and time consuming it is to manually measure all the elevations and undulations so it seemed to be a really good job with that. Congrats. One piece of feedback I'd give is in regards to the planting. You've pretty much used the one same bush for the whole course (unless you've changed it in future betas?). I know in RL, the bushes are all pretty consistent but there's plenting of ways of livening up the planting. Try using some trees with different shades of green, make them smaller and sink them into the ground. You can just place them within the planting you've already done. Or just use some more variations of the bushes. That would make the atmosphere far more realistic and appealing to look at. Eg. How good would the 16th look if you used all the various shades of green as per the image below I'm definitely no expert but that's the first thing I noticed. Oh I forgot to add....did you build the layout initially using Open Street Maps and then import that file into the game? If not, hit me up in PMs and I can explain how that works. It will make every RCR you ever do far more accurate and less time consuming.

Thanks for the feedback Heisenberg. I'm so new to this caper I realised too late this should have been posted in the "Under Construction" section. Yes I have been adding more more colour in the latest Betas. Hoping to publish finished course tomorrow called "The Old Course @ The Nash" And no I don't use Open Street Maps, thanks for the heads up. I'll defo look into it Enjoyed it man. Well done.
