Been mulling this over a while and thought it'd make a good thread, particularly for designers with a number of courses under their belt. So, the premise is simple. Sticking to hole numbers, what's your best 18 that you've built? Should stick loosely to par as you would when designing but it's a personal exercise for fun, so go with whatever you think. Really interested to see what others come up with. With collabs, my rule has been that if I did 50% or more of a hole, I'm happy to chuck it in.
Mine leaves out some I think are my very best which either didn't fit or got beaten out by a better hole. Fun to note that I tend to love my 4th holes and hate my 6ths, 9ths (desperately trying to get back to the clubhouse) and 16ths lol. Never realised quite how much I loved 6-8 at Marlette either.
Edited so that each hole has a picture in the link.
- White Pepper Dunes (par 4). Honorable mention: Black Salt Valley (4)
- Old Ainsdale GC (par 4). Honorable mention: Greenstone River (3)
- Kaiuma Bay (par 4). Honorable mention: Marlette Fells (par 4)
- Kaiuma Bay (par 4). Honorable mention: Black Salt Valley (5) - this one would have made just about any other spot if Kaiuma 4 weren't (IMO) the best hole I've ever designed.
- Black Salt Valley (par 3). Honorable mention: Old Ainsdale GC (4) - my favourite on that course.
- Marlette Fells (par 4).
- Marlette Fells (par 3). Honorable mention: Greenstone River (4)
- Marlette Fells (par 5). Honorable mention: Greenstone River (3)
- Old Ainsdale GC (par 4). Honorable mention: Hollingbourne (4)
- Kaiuma Bay (par 3). Honorable mention: Black Salt Valley (5)
- Marlette Fells (par 4). Honorable mention: Kegusta (4)
- Greenstone River (par 4).
- Montellago (par 3). Honorable mention: Sevenoake (5)
- Kaiuma Bay (par 4). Honorable mention: White Pepper Dunes (5)
- Greenstone River (par 5). Honorable mention: Kegusta (5)
- Marlette Fells (par 4). Honorable mention: Kaiuma Bay (5) - loses out because it'd be a third par five on the back
- White Pepper Dunes (par 4). Honorable mention: Old Ainsdale GC (5)
- Old Olkham Village (par 5). Honorable mention: Black Salt Valley (4)
Oh and because it's a gratuitous thread already, here's my pick of the 18 - hole four at Kaiuma:
