Doubtful River (Green) is now open! The first 18 holes of a planned 63 (!) on the plot, this course is my entry in the 2020 CC Design Contest. My 2 main inspirations for this course were Dismal River and Sand Hills: Dismal River for the overall feel of the plot (multiple courses, a river, etc.), and Sand Hills for many of the hole ideas and concepts used throughout the course. The default conditions for the course are firm (0.9 out of 1), and the default green speed is 178. The course was designed with maxed-out conditions, so anyone seeking an added challenge can choose to play with those settings. I recommend north and west winds, especially for Pro club players, as two long par 4s (7 and 13) may not be reachable in regulation with strong southeast winds. Holes 6 and 12 play quite a bit easier with a southeast wind, though, in an attempt to balance out the difficulty. There are two sets of tees: red (6,754 yards) and green (7,271 yards). The red tees are meant for Beginner club users and for Pro clubbers who want an easier round. Here is the course scorecard: Here’s my traditional low-budget course map, this one in 2 separate pictures because of the long, skinny routing: Finally, the view off the first tee: Thanks to everyone who gives the course a spin. As always, feedback and constructive criticism are very much appreciated. I hope you enjoy your round!

Look for a broadcast of this course as Demonondalinks tries to continue his hot steak this week on Friday night alt shot. Will you be having asparagus with your hot steak?

I enjoyed the round and nearly took a much closer look at the river than desirable on the 18th 😊

After just coming up short in an epic head to head battle VS the former #3 in the world (he did give me somewhere between 1 and 10 strokes...) I hopped on for another round.
Think this course will make a great tourney venue. Plays great, is rewarding and will punish you for getting greedy or out of position. Some great views and really enjoyed the par 5's.
I see a rematch in the future...

Great addition to your catalog of courses. It plays really good for CC level players with default conditions, but I bet it's a killer with them cranked up a little. The greens were really nice, and I liked the roll offs on some of them, because I didn't roll off, of course. Hole 3 early in the round was my favorite. The mounds protecting some greens seemed to be more challenging than bunkers. Great publish man!

You're the second or third person to identify #3 as a favorite hole, which struck me as funny because it was probably the one that gave me the most trouble. It went through about 3 different iterations, while nearly every other hole stayed (roughly) the same from inception to publish. I guess I finally found a design that worked on that one.

Played this right after publish and I admit I was on the fence about it. But seeing two other people play it on stream earlier gave me a better appreciation for the strategy it takes to score low. You can go out there new to it and shoot a decent score, but this is really a links course, you have to see the land and bounces to really score low. Really great design.

I enjoyed my round. I played with default settings + high northwest winds and 187 greens from back tees and pin 1. I shot -12 and was very happy with that. I hit a fast into the drink on 18. That was a great design there. I didn’t realize it rolled off so much behind the green until it was too late. I think my 2-wood would have been good without the fast but maybe not with that wind.
I liked the minimalist design style of the course. I felt like it was realistic and it reminded me of some courses I played in high school back in Illinois. 9,14, and 18 were my favorite holes. Nice job and good luck in the competition, Griffin.

Lol Griffin, you are the master of doing a s**t load of work and making it look like you haven't done much! The minimalist look really works for this one, but the look you've achieved on the hill with all the buried trees is really really good. And obviously your patented downhill flowing river. Hole design as always is your strength, and the course flows perfectly. I think it's your best course by far, and I liked your other courses! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the plot.
The 14th with that roll off got me for a triple, I'll be back to take my revenge on that hole!

Ported to 2K21. Probably the last TGC port I'm going to bring into this game (after Hills and Creek). I decided to remove the fairway runoffs into the water, because I felt the new game changed that risk/reward balance too much for me to leave them as is. However, if a scheduler wants a "tour" version with those back in play, I'd be more than happy to oblige. I made no other changes of consequence to the course.
Hope everyone who plays enjoys their round!
