Thanks for this thread. Been playing some great courses. Side note, the self promotion of own designs in your list is so ugh No need to put them on my list, I conveniently put them under every post in my signature

I wondered that as well. I pulled the Pac. Dunes Lidar data in and was surprised to see there were courses by that name on the game so I went to check them out. They're not what I expected... I'll be trying to do that course and Bandon Trails justice in 2K if the planting doesn't bore me to tears. With petty working on Sheep Ranch, Mike's Bandon Dunes already in game. And those 2 on the docket, I recruit joegolferg to work his template magic on Old Macdonald. Hahaha don't say that, I already have my fingers in too many pies...

I may end up working on Old Mac as well - the surfaces are all there but really just waiting on whether we get some updated planting and surfacing options. It’s worth bringing in just for holes three and four - both completely changed my opinions on what ‘sculpting issues’ really are.

Side note, the self promotion of own designs in your list is so ugh To be fair, many of us have known each other for years, so I think it's either blatant honesty or fun ribbing. Either way, if Ben puts Black Salt Valley, or Petty puts Passtimes, or Mayo puts Necedah Pines, or Dylan puts Quincy CC, or... you get the point, that would be completely fair IMO, because it's not self-promotion as much as it is just absolutely true!

This is a really fun exercise that I've probably been thinking WAY too hard about, because every time I have 5, I find reasons why I 'can't' leave another course out of the top 5. LOL! But I'm all for a thread like this because there's no right or wrong, and it goes to show all of these great designers that their courses make an impact with people, even if we can't come up with the same top 5 (and we never would, which I think is great TBH).

I know what you mean mayday_golf83 I posted 5 and 10 more came to mind. Having only been in the community for 2 months, threads like these and design comps have unlocked a whole new world of potential. I’ve quickly noticed that when certain designers publish the whole group sits up and takes notice. Whether that be Arctic or Sindre or Andre or Dylan or Brian and on and on and on. Everybody can see the time and effort that goes into a really great course but everyone has their own preferences which I think is really cool. I’m more in it for eye candy and a relaxing round as opposed to the technical side of routing. I’m an admitted sucker for elevation changes, coastlines, Island greens waterfalls rock work and the like. And everyone has a course or ten they love that they feel gets no respect. Frigiliana Spain for me. That’s what makes it interesting (I don’t envy judging the CCs, although getting to play great course after great course isn’t so bad) Id love to take recommendations to play too, so my PM box is open to anyone for a playlist! Haha

Pastimes is absolutely remarkable. As a person who tends to just swing without thinking of where it lands to get the best next shot this course is as punishing as I've ever played. You MUST have a plan here, and I love it.

I'm personally drawn to courses that have uniquely created environments along with really good golf. I agree with this. The Design community has come a really long way in the past 18 months... there are so many great courses being turned out right now that are going to get buried and not get the plays they deserve. So if you do a Links, Dunes, or Alpine course now the bar has been raised and you have to be extraordinary. Creating a unique/ memorable environment seems to go a long way as well. I also have about 15 courses on my list that depending on my mood could make my Top 5 list at any given time.
