I'm happy to introduce the South Braddock Loop, which includes two par-73 courses - South Braddock (Black) & South Braddock (Gold). Alternating between the counter-clockwise routing (Black) and the clockwise routing (Gold) on a daily basis, the South Braddock loop provides a scenic tour through sand dunes, waste areas, gorse-covered mounds, coastline links, & a pine forest while forcing the golfer to make decisions on nearly every shot.
I didn't think I would finish this project in time for the CC Design Contest, so I never entered it, but I'm really hopeful that all of the time and effort paid off in terms of this being a course that is challenging and fun to play while showcasing some creative design work. I've had one prior course approved on TGCT (Aeolia Island), and I received a lot of useful feedback that helped me put together two courses I'm really proud of...and hopefully the you all enjoy playing them as much as I enjoyed creating them. I'd love to see these show up on one or some of the Tours. Thanks for visiting this thread, and I hope you give both courses a try...and I'd love to hear any and all feedback.
Before getting into hole-by-hole breakdowns, I want to explain a little bit about the property and the routing. Below is an overhead view of the property with the Black & Gold routings identified. While the courses use the same 18 green/tee complexes, the 18 holes on the Black course are completely different from the 18 holes on the Gold course, so the courses provide different challenges and vistas. For reference, the #1 tee for both courses is in the bottom-right (next to 18 green for both courses), and I've added arrows on the lines for #1 on each course to show how the routings go in different directions.
Although the design is not meant to be similar, an inspiration for these courses was Cypress Point - specifically the weaving into and out of different environments (apologies for my pictures not being super-high res...looks much better in the actual game!).
