The refs made bad calls on both sides during the Wisconsin & Kentucky game.
Wisconsin & Duke will be a great game.
I think slight advantage to Wisconsin because of experience & revenge factor.

Before the tournament started, I picked two teams that I wanted to see in the championship game. Duke and Wisky. Hope it is a classic. Maybe the media can get off Kentucky's jocks now. Highly overated because they were not tested much in the weak SEC. They would have lost 2-4 games in the ACC.

Good game, Duke. Wisconsin just did not take advantage of their opportunities.
I won't blame the refs, but it was interesting that the Badgers had 2 fouls in the first half and then Duke had the double bonus halfway through the second half. For a team that has never really fouled much, that kinda stood out to me as being kinda weird.
That's all I'll say about that, though.

Fouls usually even out over a game and that is what happened last night. It was DUKE that had their best players on the bench in the second half, not Wisky. The Badgers could not put Duke away when they were up 9 and Duke horses on the bench.
Had a ton of respect for Bo Ryan BEFORE the game and zero after the game. He sounded like a whiny b****. Still like Frank and Dekker and wish them well. All in all a great run for the Badgers to beat UNC, Arizona and Kensucky.
Go Duke!!

Duke over Wisconsin. ND pulls the upset over Kentucky in Elite 8. Davidson is the Cinderella story of the tournament. Should have put down money on that championship! :-) |

Fouls usually even out over a game and that is what happened last night. I don't buy that idea as an excuse. When a team who averages 12 fouls per game gets called for 13 of their 15 in the second half alone, that just doesn't fit. Did Duke get more aggressive in the second half? Perhaps. I thought Duke was pretty aggressive the entire game. Did they really draw that many more fouls with their supposedly more aggressive play? I just don't believe so. The Badgers could not put Duke away when they were up 9 and Duke horses on the bench. I agree that this was the difference in the game. Wisconsin had Duke on the ropes and did not take advantage. In the end, that's what really cost them the game. Duke undoubtedly did enough to win the game. I'm just disappointed that the second half of the game played out the way it did. It just kinda leaves a disgusting taste rather than a feeling of a great season to reminisce on which just came up a little short, if you get my drift. |

Duke's gameplan in the second half was to take the ball to the bucket since we have great guards. Wisconsin settled for jump shots (21 threes shot in the game ) I was surprised that they did not drive more.

They avg. 20 threes a game so that's not out of the ordinary, but I think it was how they are getting those threes. In the 1st half they were driving, getting in the lane and then kicking out for great looks at 3, not the case in the 2nd half. Live by the 3, Die by the 3. Your absolutely right about Duke. They attacked the basket, got to the foul line and shifted the tempo in their favor and with the officials. The more aggressive team usually always gets the calls. It was a great game, I'm not not a Duke fan at all, but they deserved and played well. Wish Wisconsin could have played better the last 5 minutes, not necessarily to win but just to continue the outstanding game. They ran out of gas, Duke is much deeper and while the big horses were in foul trouble, that rest really helped down the stretch and it showed. |

I picked 3 of the final 4 teams. Sadly my Arizona Wildcats couldn't overcome 85% shooting from 3 point range vs Wisconsin. They kept it close but very few teams can overcome it when a team shoots like that, under pressure and only misses like 2 of 13 in the second half.
I had Arizona winning it all and meeting Duke. I am glad that all the "hype" that goes along with the Blue Devils each year and in most recent years it is overblown and not earned, they finally lived up to the hype.
Sadly Duke is one of those teams that regardless how they do, they always seem to be ranked a bit higher than they should and get a higher seed than they should. Kudos to them for winning tho.

That same Wisky team that shot lights out against Arizona was shut down by the stifling Duke defense. Oh I'm not going to attempt to compare Arizona with Duke when it comes to the tourney. Arizona still has its own good history. For 20+ years from 85 to '05 they had the highest winning percentage of any team. They hold TWO of the top 10 all time longest home, winning streaks and currently hold it now. They have 4 final fours, 2nd place (lost to Duke  ) and 1 national championship. They are still the only team in history to beat three #1 seeds in the tournament ever. Duke is another level with Coach K. Mad respect and the games between your Devils and my Cats have always been good. We beat you in Maui a year or so ago, you beat us a few times before that. The best game I have ever personally seen was when we had a home at home agreement and there was a double OT win by us at home to help that winning streak and your team won an OT at Cameron. My gripe with Duke is not with Duke, per se. It is with the media, like Seth Davis, who year after year promote Duke to be all that and even more. They were a questionable #1 seed this year but proved themselves worthy. They were a questionable #2 seed when they lost to the #15 seed. I just find often times they get more credit than what is deserved in my own opinion. As for the Cats, yeah the Pac 12 isn't nearly as competitive as it was in the past, which is why we schedule ourselves good games leading up to the conference. All props to Coach K tho. Love that man. |

The thing that bothers most Duke fans is the hate that most of our white boys get just because they can play. Watch Grayson Allen next year. He will get loads of hate. Matter of fact it has already started.
