Normally, us, Romans, like there to be some wind.... not this week.  First round was okay but my score was seriously damaged by a double bogey on the 10th... went into the canyon. Did manage a few more good holes for -11. Second round was weird; normally I hate low wind rounds, but this time, I managed to do well: -16 Thanks to Ben, Marc and Paul for stopping by. TGCT Round 2Simple explanation....someone must have swapped my putter for a mallet when I wasn't looking...every putt all I got was John saying "just missing" until I got to the point I was going to wrap the putter round his bloody neck!! -5

Decided that I might as well keep going while Marc’s putter is still mine.
Third round had some more wind; 😊
Played well but one fast on the 14th resulted in a bogey.
Had 16 birdies to compensate for that; no eagles though... 😂😂😂

TGCT Round 3
Well, out of the blocks like....  …..7 under after 7 holes, starting to get what it must feel like being in Marc's Crazy Croc shoes, then it became a little more like a matter of hanging on to what I had, scrambling here and there, picking up the odd birdie.....then was looking for a grandstand finish to blow the opposition away but instead of Messi all I got was...  ….finished with a respectable -12 in the higher winds so at my level I can't complain. Can't help feeling it could've, should've been better after the start I made. Onwards!!!

TGCT Round 4Solid enough finish but not sure it will cause my opponent Ernie cappy1 any loss of sleep. nothing spectacular though always nice to come off with an eagle on the 72nd hole -11Very much enjoy Mike's katana22 course. Got plenty of tricks up it's sleeve if you don't get the tempo right. Just good to give a bit more meaning to the TGCT rounds, though I am hoping I've done enough to get rid of one of the red nasties that I collected this week. I found a dead parrot in the hole..only good thing that happened on my 4th round that went to hell in a handbasket fast. Give so many back I lost track. I think it was all the excitement of seeing feathers scattered on the greens  I did however run into SkyBlueBen on the course.. now I understand about the feathers scattered about  |

Finished up
No real highlights, one bummer in round 4 when I suddenly and uncharacteristically decided to play safe and hit 3 wood off the tee on the 10th. Did not quite make it to the safe side and gravity sucked the ball into the abyss. Dropped a cool putt to drop just 1 shot.

After a round of real golf in conditions that Frans would have absolutely loved, (Every hole had a strong crosswind or straight into your face, gusting over 25mph.) I settled down to my Parrots debut. The round was very like building a castle in the middle of a swamp. I played beautifully in the changing wind conditions turning in -6 and it could honestly have been -8 had a couple of Brazilians not poked the heads up. Just as the castle was rising majestically and with Marc's excellent score somewhere in sight, it promptly sank into the swamp. A misjudged tee shot on the 10th saw a reload. Another pesky Brazilian meant a double bogey. I bounced back with a couple of chips and although I missed the birdie on the short, uphill par-5 I still closed out my round with three more chirps and the big bird on the final hole. The card was signed for 11 under and it probably won't be enough for the win, I did see enough from IGolfBad in our alt-shot matches last night to give me a glimmer of hope. |

Well, when you have a course that doesn't suit your game and have a nightmare round to boot, it all comes together to give you a nice big s##t sandwich. Only a couple of tempo errors, but they happened at the worst possible times and left me in some impossible spots. Couple of OBs. No putts would drop, everything burned the lip, so even when I had a fair look at birdie, they turned into pars. Add it all up and you get an absolutely atrocious.. R1 : -4 (68) I just have nothing for this course, can't get anything close and can't make a putt. Taking a break before I play again, this cannot continue. |
