As soon as I heard the news, I ran straight to SAM house. Of course by ran, i mean I sailed from my private island to the closest international airport from which I took my private jet to England where my luxury limo and personal driver drove me to the location, you know, the same way all of you travel. I knocked at the door and when Simon answered I said “Simon, I just heard that the record for easiest course on the KF has been beaten, you must be devastated, I am so sorry but fear not, I bring good tidings. For a small increase in the KF designers tax, I’ll put another one of your courses on tour and you can win back your reputation.” He slammed the door in my face. He must still have been in shock. I noticed a open window so I shouted in “ Simon, Simon, I understand, we can pretend your course is hard like the last time, you can put trees in random positions and by trees I mean a single tree so the players will think to themselves, oh no a tree, what ever am I going to do, this course is soooo difficult and you can laugh a evil laugh. Simon, we need you, the KF needs you.” He shut the window. I ran around to the back of the house, Simon was outside breathing heavily and muttering to himself, it sounded like he was saying “I told him no more”, over and over. I approached him, a smile on my face, arms open wide “ Simon, you can name the course what ever you want, maybe in honour of your favourite football team, Liverpool or Manchester United, one of those teams that wear red anyway.” He screamed into my face, no words, just one long guttural scream, after about a minute I thought that it might be best if I left, so I backed away slowly and returned to my hotel. A couple of hours later I received a email from Simons lawyers saying that the KF and all its members are permanently banned from player courses designed by Simon Morris. I have said it before, this tour would be so much better if there were no designers and there inflated egos. Anyway no designer was going to tell me what to do, I found out where Simons latest course was and signed us up to play there under a different name, so this week you are not kornholers, you are members of the Locals In Victory Especially Right Playing Over Oppositions Laws golf club. To show there is no hard feelings though, to show I am a kind and considerate person and despite Simons childish behaviour, I am going to show some love by promoting him. Simon has a twitch channel called Tea Time with Simon and Friends and no that is not a misspelling because not only do they play golf but they also discuss tea. Just last week, I was watching and there was a vigorous debate on which biscuit is better with a cup of tea, digestives or ginger nuts. It got pretty heated, I thought it might even come to blows and one stage but in the end they all agreed, that no matter what biscuit is used, it is vital to ensure that dunking time does not exceed the biscuits sogginess limitation or both tea and biscuit would be spoilt. It can be entertaining watching them playing golf to, because some of these people are hmmm, what would be the correct term, elders, aged, old fogeys, does not really matter, I think you know what I mean. Anyway from time to time, you will hear snoring as one of the players falls asleep while waiting for their turn, listening to the others trying to walk him up is hilarious and worth the price of admission alone. I have to say, it’s the only golf game stream I have ever seen where a game takes longer than a real game of golf. Anyway, enjoy this weeks course, good luck, have fun.

Nice to be back from my excursion to the US Open!
First out of the traps on Xbox. Went -10, -12, -10, -12. No idea if that is good or middle of the road!
Course was good fun though!

Sublime to the ridiculous. 1 eagle, 10 birds, 2 pars, 3 bogeys, 2 doubles. Started birdie, birdie, eagle on my way to a front nine of -8. Finished bogey, double, bogey for a back nine of +3. Made some great putts, 4 putted from the fringe on 10. I would compliment SAM on yet another in a string of brilliant courses, and tell him I've always considered him as one of the very best designers we have here, but I'm too pissed off so I'm not going to. Only good thing, I've put the controller down and am going to bed. That's a lesson learned from last week, who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Brand new to the Korn Ferry or whatever we are calling it this week. I really don’t know what to expect but the threads are a lot livelier than in C.C. Especially for an old fogey like me. Though I don’t drink tea or podcast cookie shows.😉

Wandered up to the first tee with the swagger of a man who came second last week. Full of confidence I assumed the Bringer of Wind had left his mansion on the hill to congratulate me and offer me a reduction in my weekly fees. Stupid brain, of course he hadn’t. “You muppet” he shouts at me “You threw it away last week with some of those f#%k-knuckle shots, give me half your ginger nuts or half this weeks purse, you’re an embarrassment to the Tour”, you can’t say no to Dan, you’ve all seen him when he’s angry. I duly got my nuts out and was going to give him half when he swiped the lot. He clicked his fingers and 6 of the most gorgeous women you’ve ever seen walked over, picked him up and he was gone. Whilst I was angry I was also a little bit jealous. So it was with bitterness that I played Round 1, -5 at the turn I was playing well, but the lack of biscuits on the back nine led to a few loose shots, a few well positioned trees hit, a few short putts missed and a very disappointing level Par back nine. Here we go again, green tick one week, red tick the next. Not this week my friends, with a new pack of gingery goodness stowed away, round 2 saw me play 16 of the best holes I’ve ever played, no luck involved here just quality approach play and solid putting, those bloody trees stumped me on 17(got a Par) and then a poor flop on 18 also led to a Par. However I finished on -15, for -20 at the turn and still a chance to pick up a reasonable purse to avenge those lost ginger nuts.

So I was very anxious to get this week going after last weeks disaster. Started off nicely with a few birdies and a bogey. The back 9 I had 3 very fast swings to end with a frustrating -5. Determined to figure this out I went ahead and played R2 and glad I did. Got off to a hot start and outside of one bad hole on my part finished with a strong -12 so -17 at the halfway point. I think that should be good for a made cut and remove one of last weeks demo marks. Kinda feeling the cut at around -14 this week.
I actually thought this course was very interesting. Not only do you use all the clubs in your bag but to get the best results on some holes you need to shape shots which I think is something lost on a lot of great courses in the game. Seems like the variety on this one is really well done so hats off to the designer.
Here is to scoreboard watching the next few days!

Teed up round 2 determined to focus and just enjoy it. It's a real fun course to play, and my 67 in the first round actually isn't as far out of touch as I thought it would be, I can still make this cut! I've got -12 in my head as a target, but mainly I'm just going to enjoy my round.
What happened next I never expected. Fairly routine start, nice putt for birdie at 1 and then a par at 2. Eagled 3 for the second round in a row and really got it going, just like the first round I complete the front 9 in 28. -16 over two rounds on the front 9! But I also have that horrendous back 9 in round 1 in my head, I know the job isn't done yet.
First round I had my first double at 10, this time I was an eyelash away from an eagle 2. Holed the birdie putt and kept picking them up, even on the rare occasion I missed the fairway I seemed to get a lucky lie and find my way to the green. I got to the tough 17th tee at -14 for the round, and to be honest I would have bitten your arm off for two pars right then and there! Got stuck in the rough above that well placed (stupid) tree but again found the green, and you know it's really going your way when you then curl in a 30 footer for another birdie! I'm starting to think this is all a dream. This is confirmed when I flop in for an eagle at 18 for a 55. Please nobody wake me up, I quite like it here...
67 and 55 for -22 at the cut. That was easily my best round since the TGC1 days.
