I'll echo what everyone else is saying - course is a bit of a joke. Too many holes seemed like gimmicks, fairways were like the Himalayas, some ridiculous pin positions (especially R2). Yes it looks nice but the playability is horrid. Hole 10 may be my least favourite hole I've ever played. But everyone is dealing with it so whatever
My game was a complete joke this week. Couldnt hit it straight for the life of me, and when I did the tempo was all wrong. Putter was a shambles as well.
Just about managed a shaky -7 in R1.
Half-heartedly sped through R2 and shot -8.
Don't know if -15 makes the cut or not but, for the first time ever, I'm not really arsed. Don't particularly want to play 2 more rounds here.
Good luck this week folks, and at least try to enjoy it!

I really hope the new game is hard enough so we can play normal golf. I understand why it was chosen, these open courses are supposed to be punishing but 2019 pretty much neutered realistic golf especially the tee shot.

-11 after round 1. I like the course. Haha
Check back tomorrow and that may well change. It's night and day when hitting straight lines versus my typical Zoro style shots. Almost took me back to TGC1.

-9 -10 -14 -10
-43 total - I actually enjoyed the setup, thought it was challenging enough to make you think and miss in the right places, whilst punishing bad approaches.
With regards to the putt/chip debate, thereβs no way you can make that putt without the ball going off the green at some point, so I would say itβs fine to chip it on that basis.

So we avoided using a major contest course for the US Open because reasons...
Yet we're playing a course next week on the PGA, that is currently in the CC-Pro-Am DESIGN CONTEST?
Huh???

This statement assumes we are plugged in with all things TGCT - which is nearly impossible to be at this time. Neither Tyler or I knew that was a CC contest course - so I've reached out to see if they're cool with us using it otherwise we'll swap it out.
The Major Contest/US Open thing was my call and was a pretty easy one to make.

I was recommended giving Brazonia a play and then went into the course submission database to take another look. No mention of CC contest in there and I never checked out the thread in our forums. I've actually tried to avoid the threads a bit on courses because they can sway you easily with comments. For instance the course we're playing this week was heavily praised by some of the top designers in the community and yet here we are with many not being a fan. I do think most of the complaints are valid though. FWIW, I did pick an easier course for that week considering it's the week after the U.S. Open and the Travelers is usually known as an easy week. But It's a very nice course and with a little bit of wind has some bite to it with distance.

-11 R1, and left a few out there. Didnβt mind the course, put a premium on getting both your drive and approach in the right spot. Considering how easy it is to go low in this game, arcadey courses like this are almost necessary to manage scoring without making the course insanely long. Maybe my opinion will change after three more rounds!

This is what y'all play course-wise now?! ππ I think this is a poor representation of the last 6 weeks or so of what we have been offered here on PGA. Keep up the good fight in getting your swing figured out!

Hello everyone! Matty the course designer here! So happy to hear you're loving every aspect of the course so far! Just a couple notes about the course to give you a little insight maybe. First off, yes, I'll admit some of the sculpting could use some work on a some holes (7, 12, 16 green especially), the concepts I think are fun, I just didnt execute them properly. I was (and still am) learning how to use the sculpting tools properly. I think I've made big improvements since then. There can be a big learning curve. Bushes in the bunkers - I learned my lesson with this. I think it looks cool, but definitely affects your view in those bunker shots especially. If I did them in the future I'd definitely make them smaller for scale. I was super new to the forums and design community when I published this. I didn't really even know about the different tours themselves, and never ever ever expected my course to be chosen for a tournament. A lot of work went into this course, probably about 250 or more hours, so it's pretty cool and rewarding seeing how many plays it's gotten. Had I known it was chosen for a tour I could have definitely gone back and cleaned up the problem areas. Hole 10 - its 285 yards downhill and if you play smart and execute you should make birdie almost everytime. Suck it up! πππ If anyone wants to scream at me feel free to PM me, I'm a good sport and genuinely not offended by what's been said so far. Best of luck to everyone playing this week! - Matty

Your course is great mate. it has its place on PGA tour !
I will be ashamed to complain to course designers who allow me to have so much fun on this game and who spend an infinite amount of time there. I'm waiting for the complainants' army next week on the Elmview Classic course. It will be wild

unplayable with the putter ?
This video actually proves my point.
Rule states the putter is not mandatory if the fringe is intruding the line you wish to take. Given that you were forced into rolling the ball over the fringe, and then back off the fringe to get it into anything like a reasonable position, it's pretty undeniable that the fringe was obstructing your line.
Unless your argument is that the fringe wasn't obstructing your line, even though you had to play right through it? .
