-9 and -2 for, wait for it... another MC. Maybe a demo mark, maybe not. Felt like I might make the cut after a good opening nine holes of -6. Then I went -5 over the next 27 holes as mediocrity reigned.
My putting was okay in R1, but was my usual poor in R2. Weird mounds with goofy fall off angles in the fairway felt forced and took away from the overall nice linksy feel all around the course. The representation of heather (I think thats what it was supposed to be, anyways) was a nice touch. Luckily I was never caught in any, but I still found my share of missed GIRs.
Good luck to all with rounds yet to play this week!

, but the way we have the rules you will have a lot of guys putting that to avoid possibility of a DQ. This is true. But you'll also get plenty who do flop and hope that nobody notices.
I hope i get some credit for calling out myself Appreciate the transparency 100% and I dont think it should be a DQ. But I also agree that majority of players would probably have putted it in that situation. Maybe there needs to be more clarity in the rule but at the end of the day it comes down to a judgement call and with you pointing it out yourself you obviously didnt have the intention of cheating in my view

Will personally say this was the first week where I wasn't at all happy with how the tournament played. It happens.
I think the grind of playing this course multiple times really starts to weigh on you with some of the sloping everywhere.
I remember the first time I played it, I thought it was an absolute blast and solid test and I sent it to be rangered. Rangers were mostly a fan of it and I did a couple of tests and still liked it but got a bit more annoyed with some of my drives running out 50 yards into the rough. And then when I played some of the tournament today it turned into full out rage mode. A flattening tool to the fairways and edges of greens would double the pleasure of the course for sure.
Course selection had been rather bland lately with the Colonial's and Muirfield's and Quail Hollow's of the RCR world, so I did want to use something a little more bold in design to spice things up going into the U.S. Open.

I think yes (given that the line of my putt would probably have to be 20 yards right of the putting surface)
I would putt that. I would think you could find yourself on actual courses IRL (Augusta #9 comes to mind first) where you won't be able to stop the ball near the hole and it would trail off of the green on fast enough greens if you miss on a tier higher than the hole is on.

Any reason our course for next week or the next few weeks havent been announced? CC-pro events are locked in through July 18th. Im always looking for courses to practice after I miss the cut Next three weeks are in. I imagine Doyley will put them up soon.

Personally don't think you should be DQ'ed for transparency. I also just don't care too much about the flopping on greens rule personally. You see it a decent amount on the real tours when guys are in weird spots. I personally think if you're more than say, 50 feet away and are generally concerned that your putt has no chance of getting close due to fringe or contours running away, you should be able to flop it. But obviously people would try to exploit that I'm sure.

The field is beautiful, but I did not like the course and the setup. I hate very fast greens and mountains in the fairway. This week I won't worry about Dq's due to crooked or straight shots. I'm going to play relaxed... About the putter/flop of the AFCTUJacko: I think you're going to have DQ. Even with that impossible putter. I had a Dq like that a couple of years ago. I didn't know the rule either. Not everything I translate. But I know it's automatic. The only possibility of this movement being valid is the manual evaluation of the administrators. For those who have finished: Are all the greens too fast?

Anyone know what we're playing for the US Open? At least we should finally get a great track based on what came out of the recent major contest. I'm guessing Elmview Classic - US Open as its on the main page Top new courses section. I could be way off though.

I'll give hitting it 'straight' a bash, but I see it ending in full rage!

That would seem likely given that another comment said that they are "reaching way back". Elmview hosted TGCTours' first U.S. Open in 2015. Fun fact: Of the 72 players who made the cut in that event, only 7 of them are still ranked in the top 100 in WGR.

Yes, it will be Elmview Classic. I told Tyler to avoid any courses from the recent Major competition since the grand prize was the Olympics - could be debated that a runner up getting to host the US Open is a bigger carrot so he went off the board for some retro TGCT!
Don't remember all the reasons why the major competition got the Olympics - I think a lot of it had to do with timing and uncertainty if the event would be done in time for the US Open. Either way, Olympics is a nice carrot and will be a rare event to host a course.

-12 R2 so sitting on -22 after 36 and will safely make cut for second week in a row. ‘Tis a proud moment. I’ll wait until later this week to really f### things up in either R3 or R4 (or both)!! Great to have you back Dax. Didn’t take you long!!

I believe a hot putter combined with a good short game when missing GIR will win this thing next week as the placement for precision shots is small and the run offs are suitable for a US Open.

-12 round 2 got me to -20 at the cut.
Visually good course. A few holes were, umm, less than fun to play.
