That is an absolute beast! 32gb is totally unnecessary, but a nice luxury ๐๐ For anyone who wants a VERY solid machine, the new budget Ryzen 3300x processor stands up pretty damn well to its big brothers and to the all but the most elite of i5 and i7 intels. Obviously Eric's rig there is going to have insane performance, but if you got the Ryzen 3, 16gb of ram and a mid level GPU, you honestly wouldn't be THAT worse off on performance, certainly capable of handling any game (maybe, maybe not high settings in everything, but probably fine) and save yourself well over 2 grand on all that! Not saying Eric shouldn't have bought this, if you've got the cash, the amazing performance is a lovely luxury, just saying what people can get on a budget ๐ Yeah the issue comes in if you want to do streaming as well as gaming on the same PC. Some high level i7's or i9's can handle it okay but it depends on what game you play. Running the same PC to stream and play is very taxing on the CPU. It's worth to spend the extra on the chip and go top tier especially if you can afford it lol. Honestly an extra $150 or so and you get the 8 cores over 4 cores. This is the big advantage for streaming+gaming.

The 3300x has to be the best value processor ever though, that's my bit of info for people ๐

I missed the end of the stream, but there is no follow up post from Eric.
Did it survive powering on?

Yup, the power on went fine, but there was an issue with the boot drive that I purchased for Windows 10 Home, so creating one from the Microsoft site today to try.

Yup, the power on went fine, but there was an issue with the boot drive that I purchased for Windows 10 Home, so creating one from the Microsoft site today to try. May just be BIOS settings Eric - the newer computers are now mainly supporting UEFI boot - which means you have to initialize (format) the drive as a GPT drive instead of MBR. Also, in some cases, you need to allow for legacy option ROMs - depending on the drive you have - the M.2 SSDs don't need the setting, but some of the 2.5 SSDs do. Basically the computer thinks the internal drive is external and without legacy option turned on, you'll get the 'no boot device found' - again, this for 'some' drive types... Good Luck - the beast should do you well !!

Some good thoughts there Jeff, I think youโre right based on the help the guys were offering on stream at the end. At around midnight I had to take a break and try to handle it today.
This morning I created a new boot USB from the Microsoft site, so I will try that soon in case itโs better prepared for the UEFI settings.
It would also help if I knew anything more than zero about all of this. Haha

The 3300x is a great CPU but it only has 4 cores, there are games now that use more cores than 4 and will get better performance using extra cores and there will be more in the future. A minimum of 8 cores will future proof your CPU for gaming imo.

And it breezed them all, mostly on high settings, if I remember right...
