Dirtbags,
I'm sorry. It was never meant to be this way. There is a hole that has now been created and I'm holding a shovel. I take full responsibility for my actions and wish the repercussions were different but here we are. I can't change the past but I hope time and forgiveness helps heal all wounds.
I've been reaching out or attempting to reach out to the Dirtbags about what's happened the last week and now I wanted to come public with an apology. This has been so sad to watch and experience and with each post, my heart has broken a little more. I'm sorry for my part that has made your lives worse. The fact I've caused dissonance has ate at me the last week.
I hope that you can accept my apology and we can work towards reconciliation in time. I certainly don't expect forgiveness now but just know that my door is always open to chat. If you need to send a message just to "get it all out" so long as we then start the rebuilding process by all means do it, just please do it via PM.
I have been trying to rally and get people together without taking responsibility for my actions and that was putting the cart before the horse. I should have issued this group apology before the other posts.
With that being said, in real life, I'm a fixer. When people have conflict, they call me to mediate. I don't like people to be upset with me. I'm always working to promote love, kindness, and tolerance. On here, I'm a whiny, negative, and at times overly competitive a-hole. I don't know why there is that disconnect but there is. I know that I've damaged and severed friendships because of that and for that, I'm also sorry.
But with being a fixer also means I'm not going to stop trying. I cannot in my heart let this be the last thing the Dirtbags do on the game where it all started. I'm going to chuck up a hail mary (American football term) and you all will be tagged in a unfamiliar yet familiar place. After reading my proposal, I hope you will look past who is the author and look more at the message.
So everyone, I'm truly sorry and I hope our paths cross again (if not very soon then hopefully sometime in the future).

Rd 2 -2 Rd 3 -2 Rd 4 Even All scores entered to the score board The Apocalypse has happened. It wasn't World war 3 or a nuclear holocaust or even Covid 19 that caused the collapse of the Dirtbags, but a simple rule change that required that the first two rds be played and posted in certain time scale. With a quarter of the Dirtbags retiring by the end of the week and probably a few more will follow. Having read the thread for the last couple days with retirements and some saying that this week should be the last week. I'm going to agree that this is going to be the best decision to take. Hopefully when 2K21 has been released and TGCT have moved over to the new game a Dirtbag Phoenix will arise to replace the Dirtbags. Having been pretty much the first to answer Bill's call for rival's which turned into the Dirtbags it's a shame it has come to this. It's a lot of fun playing with and against all of you. I consider all Dirtbags past and present as friends and rivals and should you ever happen to fall into CC-Am we can have a drink in clubhouse after the rds, or if miracles happen and I get promoted up into your tour . Good luck in the Tours & Societies that you play in Paul Oh! Can the last one out turn the lights off and put the keys under the door mat I wasn’t aware playing two rounds in a certain time scale was a rule I thought it was more of a request, after all most of the Dirtbags play in the CC part of the tours which has no cut off. I understand the need to get scores in to help the admins but theses are unusual times with many Dirtbags returning to work after a virus shut places down and I think a little leeway should have been applied. Maybe the perpetrator should have informed the admins that scores may be a little late but that’s all water under the bridge now.

A sign off memo to my friends. (originally posted to wrong thread...old man moment) Well today is my birthday and I figured I needed to thank a few people and not leave thanks unsaid before I leave the thread.(no, I am not fishing for happy birthdays as I will get plenty of those) Most of you know that, I, along with some major help from others(listed below) helped run the D-bags for 7+ seasons. sid snott Paul and Loftyando leon, along with me, are the final three originals, before first season. I want to thank you both as we have witnessed something special from the start. Paul has worked his ass off over the seasons and I want him to know it was appreciated. Although not an original Dirtbag, Pat Celtic Wolf was one of the MVPs along the way. Thanks for all your time spent. Pat was in a different division when we started and already had his own group. I kept after him until he joined our crazies. Greg(has requested not to be tagged anymore) but he too, deserves thanks for the time and effort he has spent. Last but not least, Ben SkyBlueBen . Ben came in at a dire time and took over the stats and never missed a beat. For anyone that feels any anger toward Ben, point it in my direction. Over and over, I told Ben 'the well being of the group, far exceeds the whims of any individual'. He remembered that. As a matter of fact, I rescinded the memberships of Dirtbags over previous seasons that I felt were bringing the group down. Ben was too nice to do that. To all the others who have stepped up in later years in various capacities, thanks. I hope that I did not leave anyone out as it was not intended. In my opinion, if the Dirtbags had a 'hall of fame', the above would be it. Without their help we would not have made it to season 9. Thanks to you all. I am still a little bitter that our journey did not get to its final destination. Maybe the new game will bring a brighter day.

billybudd0623 Kind of you Bill. I do hope there is no anger directed towards myself. I have always tried to be reasonable and fair, even to the detriment of my own team, throughout my time with Dirtbags. And I was always prepared to take the time to try and resolve matters. I tried with the last drama but I just ran out of solutions. I'm actually gutted that the season will not finish, there was even a point yesterday where I considered offering to step in and score the rest of the season to bring it to a conclusion. But I just looked at the thread, sighed, and decided it was probably best I move on. The Dirtbags, though the online play, has created friendships that I value greatly, especially more pertinent during this period of lockdown. The future will bring something different, there can only be one Dirtbags, and I think we've all been privileged to play our part in it's existence. Oh and Happy Birthday you old bugger!!

billybudd0623, your birthday happens to coincide with the national holiday of Luxembourg. So, I have a day off each time it's your birthday. That's not bad. Happy birthday!

And there we were, 31 guys and 1 gal on a bus. On a road trip. Spanning the whole world. And then bus broke down. Just around the corner of a place called Lake Placid. As it happened this distinguished looking gentleman wearing a naval looking cap stopped next to us. He listened to our woes of not going to make it to Disneyland in time to see the fireworks. The gentleman said not to worry - call me the Commodore. I am the man everyone here look up to and I will see to it that we will have an holiday to remember. We feebly tried to protest but the Commodore was not a man to be trifled with. His steely grey eyes and square jaw was not going to take no for an answer.
So he took us to the clubhouse - an imposing solid wooden building on shores of Lake Placid sporting an old harpoon gun on the front deck. He pointed to a big pristine looking boat gently rocking on the lapping waters of the lake. In the background big villas were dotting the other side of the lake.
"You will stay on The Lady. The whole weekend. Take her 200 yards off shore, anchor there. As my guest. Just last season we rented the boat to the Clintons. Such a lovely couple, well behaved kids too.
We have 2 rules here. Absolutely no fishing what so ever and no noise. Just last week we found a 350 lb catfish stranded on shore next to the dock - the vet said that fish died of old age. With a smile on its face. We like to keep it that way.
Also, keep in mind that sound travels far across water, so you will speak in hushed voices once the sun sets. I do not want the residents on the other side of the lake to be disturbed under any circumstance. Our residents come from old money and although I'm the law here I do respect their wishes of wanting peace and quiet. I will certainly not tolerate being embarrassed by anyone. Especially you lot."
As things were, the boat turned out to be quite a nice tub. Plush carpets, a fireplace, solid wood, marble tiles in the bathrooms, well stocked bar, crystal glasses, big ass tv's - the whole shebang. Disneyland was quickly forgotten by all. Everybody enjoyed the breathtaking sunset and stayed on deck as night started to fall. We noticed The Commodore going out onto the balcony with his binoculars from time to time watching over us like a hawk. It was around 9 when the light above his lounge finally went out. The old man went to bed and the tense mood lifted considerably. We kept to our promise of speaking in hushed tones and a good time was had by all.
I'm not too sure exactly at what time - i'd guess it was around 9:30 or 9:35 pm when 3 successive load bangs when off. BOOM!, BOOM! BOOM! I did not notice it at the time but speaking about it later on during my weekly shrink sessions I could recall some water drops splashing down on us.
Lights were popping on everywhere. I noticed the large villa, on the left, old guy sporting a silk gown came out onto his balcony lovingly stroking his.45 - ex Army General, no doubt. Two villas over to the right this completely naked 8 ft bald bad ass looking dude ambled onto his deck, shouting "Olgaaaa!!, call Igor and Boris, these sheets made me spill my Vodka!!" Over to the other side of the visitors' boat house a sheriff was running towards his boat, spilling buck shot rounds everywhere as he was trying to load his shotgun at the same time.
We were all still a bit confused as to what had just happened when Bill came running up to the top deck - 'Its Ashton, he threw dynamite sticks into the water!"
Jesus.
'Ashton, WTF!!!'
'I just wanted to make sure nobody goes to bed hungry!'
By then none of us had the guts to turn around a look over towards the Clubhouse. My skin turned cold, I could sense a prickly sensation between my shoulder blades. We were just praying that harpoon gun wasn't still in working condition. Then we heard the unmistakable whop whop whop sound of the combined FBI and Parks Board task team helicopter approaching fast from the south. Curse or blessing?
*******************************************************
Ashton - I noticed your apology, this is why I posted this concoction. No malice intended. Hope you take it on the chin with a grin. Sometimes sh%$ just happens. Can only talk on behalf of myself, we're cool mate.

Frustrating to see this go down like the hindenburg.
Spent the last 24 hours not typing things, because it's all pretty upsetting. I know it has been for many of you too, based on the messages posted. Definitely don't type things when you're super emotional, take a break. Good advice I try to follow (I sometimes fail).
I'm 40. I know that's older than a few and younger than many of you. But I can tell you I've been on the internet since I was 13 and have been a part of dozens of online gaming communities. This community, TGCT, is the only online gaming community I still frequent. And this has tested my resolve in that matter, for sure.
I don't have time or energy to deal with internet drama like this. I just don't. I'd rather walk away. That's how I deal with it. I'm perfectly happy to play my golf rounds on my own schedule, post in the CCC thread and call it a day. That's enough for me. I'm happy to go back to doing that if the alternative is what went on this week in dirtbags. The dirtbags league is fun but it's definitely not worth it to me to wade through that stuff.
As a veteran of many, many imploded gaming groups - here are my basic opinions that you're free to read and disregard. They're my opinions, but I believe they cause the downfall of a good many online gaming groups of - essentially - strangers.
1) The admins do more work than you realize. Give them a break. 2) Non-admins probably aren't admins for a reason - they're busy with real life things. Give them a break. 3) Either have hard and fast rules, or don't have hard and fast rules. "Soft" rules will be taken at various levels of seriousness by all involved, and it will piss everyone off when expectations don't align. (FYI if it's a hard and fast rule to get my rounds in by Wednesday, in hypothetical future-dirtbag leagues, I'm out. It's too stressful for me to manage, even though I can do it 95% of the time. I almost didn't play season 9 because of the soft rule) 4) Lay off the trash talk. Keep it reallly really lowkey. Things you can say to people in real life don't translate to the typed word very well. This isn't about people being thin skinned, its about losing all measure and tone. Everyone always says its all in good fun and its ok - until they get hurt. And people ALWAYS get hurt, and retaliate at a screen instead of another human. It escalates every time. I've seen it hundreds of times, dozens of times in TGCT even. Negativity, even in jest, always rears up and bites someone in the butt. Always. I'm sorry but, it's just the way of things. Allowing trash talk and "ribbing" to get out of control dooms a community every time. 5) Don't promise what you can't (or won't) deliver. This one's personal, and it really did bother me, though I've kept my tongue bitten out of respect. But it was crummy to promise the winner of the course contest one thing, and then not deliver it to the winner. Just sayin'. It really sapped my enjoyment of this league thereafter. Sorry. I don't have a huge ego or anything, but I'd be lying to say it hasn't taken a bruising after that, based on what got on tour afterwards. I really took a step back from designing and asked myself, "Why am I designing?" - and couldn't come up with an answer anymore. Hopefully I'll find one in 2k21.
I dunno. There's my thoughts. Take from it what you will. Ignore it. Just my opinion. I'm sorry to see this thing burn down over preventable stuff. But that's the way it is. There's good people in here. Take some deep breaths and maybe we can all find some enjoyment in this game and community again soon.

Its been a blast guys and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this crazy bunch.
Thanks to Les for inviting me and to everyone else for letting a mad Irish man into your exclusive club.
Let's see how the dust settles after a wee break for us all. Too many good friends and memories in here to let it all go..... I guess I'm saying I'd certainly be interested in being part ofanything new which might come out of this.
Always remember folks ..... Once a Dirtbag , always a Dirtbag.
