The 3rd round was a true potpourri of fail. Rd 3: -4, Birdied the first 2 holes, then, after a par, some strange tempo swings put me in trouble on the next 2 putting me right back where I started. Had some trouble on the greens. Made some poor decisions. Was P/F off the tee at the last (a par-3 finishing hole that is a discussion for another time) leading to a bogie. A perfect example of how my round went goes like this: After a few fast swings on the previous hole (somewhere on the back nine), I walked up to a short par-3. I chose my club wisely, looked all around the green for where to hit it, and double checked the wind. Then I put a good swing on the ball, except it was Perfect/Slow. The ball landed on the green, 40 feet from the hole and 2 ft above it. I putted the ball off the green and after a decent chip and putt, made 4. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with this game. One tiny iota of change in the swing can lead to a bogey so easily. This is good because it mimics real golf very well. It's bad because it makes me really @#$%!ing mad!!!!

Dear all,
Last week, the admin team posted the following message:
"We are sorry for having to post this, but may we remind everyone that you are causing the press office, the admins and all other Dirtbags to enjoy this league a lot less if you don't play your first two rounds by Wednesday night at the latest.
the Admin Team (Art, Mark, Paul, Ben, Frans and Greg)"
Unfortunately, this week, 1 out of 32 players has decided not to post his score for the first two rounds before the midweek deadline and has also not sent a message to the admin team indicating that real life made it impossible to do so.
The Admin Team no longer accepts this and has decided that this week, and any other week that this happens, we assume any player who does not post his scores for his first two rounds by early Thursday morning BST, and fails to inform the Admin Team about the pressing reasons why this was impossible before the same deadline, does not want to play that week. We will use a replacement score from an appropriate TGCTOURS player in the same tour, so that the team of that player still has a chance at some points. That player will receive 0 points for the individual standings and a score of PAR for four rounds for the divisions.
the Admin Team (Art, Mark, Paul, Ben, Frans and Greg)

As I finished my rounds, I was going to issue an apology but nah. I checked the spreadsheet after I finished and I saw that someone had to make a little passive aggressive notation (while we're talking about colors on the spreadsheet, I'm the only one who has won a match this season but didn't get the green fill in.... That seems awful strange) on my score. I don't see where I paid money or we win money from this so what's everyone so uptight about?
I'm also not going to apologize for the lack of communication. Communication is a 2 way street and it would have taken just as long to send a message as it did to type in the 0s and fill in red.
So I'm issuing no apologies and if you want my excused absence form, send me a message or tag me in a post otherwise I won't see it.
Since things are so damn rigid around here this season, I'm going to stop there and just post the scores:
Rd 1: E Rd 2: -2
Oh and if you have a problem with ME (since that's who it's always about) maybe you should message me directly instead of another passive aggressive action. Don't take things out on the group that are directed at me. Let's be adults while we're playing a kids game.
But I am sorry to my teammates. I'm sorry for my poor play; I just didn't have it going on. I also apologize for being a terrible captain and that you guys got stuck on this team for a session. If the admins have it their way, you'll have a new captain soon.

I don't know about all the other dirtbags here but personally I would like to see you pay a bit more respect to what is trying to be achieved here.

There are matches with points figured out by Sunday. My problem isn't with the deadlines as I had gotten better for awhile (even though it's before the TGCT cut deadline). My problem is with the pettiness. I bet you if it was anyone other than me, they would have said "starting next week..."

Rd 3: 65 (-7)
Knowing I needed a -12 for the W, a 3 putt bogey on 2 after sticking it to 5ft really kinda sealed it. Never recovered. Very uncharacteristic, as my putting is usually the only thing that saves me (made a 53 footer a few holes later).
Rd 4: 65 (-7)
F -29
Sorry for the down week, teammates. Glad to be packing my bags and leaving turtle green island.

Dirtbags Season 9 Week 3 Mid-Week Report As we head into week three the balance that the Dirtbag Admins had hope for was taking form. Complete & Putter Madness held a 6 point lead over two teams on 30 (A Round with ALES and Sons of Pitches) while three more squads were between 26 and 22 points. Only two teams were lagging behind the group, and as it is only a 2 week sample more movement can still happen.
This week the Dirtbags jetted to France to take on Deux Fois Par Jour, a course that came together in short order by the Jeremy Mayo design group. Carved out of the French/Swiss countryside, this course gave up some great scores while befuddling and beguiling others.
Our first match featured to two teams having the hardest go of it early on, Kopplabunz and Cupid Stunts. Not sure if it was the fire and brimstone pep talk that Captain Kevin up mup kupen nup gave his team, or the fact that Team Cupid is in the funkiest of funks, but Koppla Ben and Zorby stormed out to a sweep of the pairs games. Martin mart280 picked up for a rare struggle by Kevin to pace scoring with -22, a score that not even the stud pixel golfer we all want to be (you know you do) Johnny evilgrin72 could match. Could this be the beginning of a team blob?
Tolle Guttis faced off with the ALES, a match the Latin Lovers desperately needed to get back in the hunt. After Captain Frans fransslabak teamed with Pulitzer poet Mark IGolfBad to win the opening game against Captain Art Art Vandelay and Les lessangster , the Brew Boys tightened things up and swept the next three. Ernie cappy1 led the Lager Lads with a frothy -24 as they take a 6-2 edge into singles.
Sons of Pitches, a storied franchise trying to bring back the glory, went against Kako in a battle of two contenders early in Season 9. Dirtbag Rookie of the Year frontrunner Sam Riotous paced the Pitches at -20, while a resurgent Wes jwtexan kept Kako in the mix with -21. With two matches not finished at press time, this one could go either way.
The highlight match featured table topping CPM taking on Foregasms, the squad that just took the previous league leader to task and nearly beat them. CPM was ready and behind the titanic -25 from Mike katana22 took three of the four pairs games, losing only by one shot to the Bill billybudd0623 Carol inflames47 tandem.
Looking ahead to singles, here are some interesting games to look for:
Martin vs Johnny - Will loud win out, or the mild mannered?
Frans vs Ernie - Are there enough red numbers to score this one?
Hunter Hunter B vs Pablo pablo - Can we #BlamePablo win lose or draw? Tune in on the weekend for the conclusion of week 3 of Dirtbags Season 9.

Rd 3 -2
Was thinking that I had a remote chance of keeping the blob away, sitting at -4 until the 13th and the fast upturned bowl greens bit and the ball started rolling off the greens.
Tried something that I used for the team rds in The DBB Cup , using 3 ghosts as it worked then with me getting decent scores. It kinda worked, there being a lot less slow down swings and managed to get a-7 in the CC-G'ers. Only time will tell if this helps in the long run, but it seems like this could be the way to go for me.
Rd 4 tonight.
