I'll have a round 2 ghost ball out there now in case anyone needs an example of how not to play. Had to scrape my way to a -7. Had two or three shots that I hit 100% power P/P but it felt like the bottom just fell out of the ball on the way down and ended up well short of where it was supposed to go. It was just that kind of round where things felt slightly off and it showed up in my score. Yeah I used it as well as Troy Watts who is playing well. Managed a -12. Pretty tricky track for sure. -25 and tied for the lead...for now! folded down the stretch a little -- i forget on account of all the rounds i've played in other societies, but i think the wind gave me some fits in R4. nice shooting Tim

I played again this week. I like putting balls in holes what can I say. If I could putt I would have smashed this out of the park but alas. My 2nd round was just not up to par to stay in contention. 56 is a good prediction, but I think given the scores that have been posted we are looking at the 53 bringing it home. I could see btms final round improved by 2 strokes maybe but that -17 is pretty much the best possible round 3 without a couple holeouts.

New to TGC about a month ago and still very much learning the ropes and am admittedly terrible! Decided to join TGCtours as it looked like a great community and a good place to get some fun rounds and variety in.
That said given that I just joined the site and forums today, Iβm under the assumption I cannot officially participate till the start of the next beginner event on Monday?
Thanks folks!

That said given that I just joined the site and forums today, Iβm under the assumption I cannot officially participate till the start of the next beginner event on Monday? Thanks folks! First off, welcome to the TGCT community. The main function of TGCTours is the flight system that mimics the professional golf circuit in most ways. There are also a lot of societies (platform specific and cross-platform) running through this site as well. If you enjoy the game, want to practice and get better, I suggest joining some of those as well. The beginner club tour (BCT) is a bit of a misnomer. It is not for beginner players but rather those using the beginner club set. A lot of reasons more experienced players are in this flight, but that would take awhile to explain. If you intend to stay awhile and progress through the various flights (Challenge circuit A-Z, Korn Ferry, Euro, and PGA) you'll want to use Pro or Masters clubs and start getting used to them. You can only use Masters on the top 3 tours. There is a Q-school (I think monthly?) to qualify and begin playing. That system has promotions and demotions as you progress. It's pretty good at eventually landing you where your skill set best fits. There is no promotion here in BCT. It's a small group compared to the other flights and a bit of a red-headed-step-child. We don't have our own society and the courses selected are not necessarily geared towards our club set. And that's completely understandable - it came about later in the process and as I mentioned, not enough participation to warrant yet another separate configuration for the admin here to worry about. If you want to stick here for awhile, checking the beginner club box on your profile will place you here. You can't switch back and forth though - joining BCT means forfeiture of your tour card and you'd have to re-enter q-school to participate on the other flights. I believe you are correct that you'll have to wait until next week to officially play. However, you might trying bugging one of the admin and seeing if they can get you active this week. A lot of extremely talented players are on this tour, so don't expect to compete right away. SweetTeeBag is the top dog here right now. But he uses ghost balls and there is an asterisk by all his wins now. Brad, Mark, Troy, Eric, Thomas, Ashley, Peter - those are other names you'll see at the top of the leaderboards as well. And our old friend Brian has made a semi-return lately. He was consistently a top 5 (10) player his whole career. I think he uses a questionable Elite controller though... Most of the above I'm just kidding about.... Good luck. Lots of people here to learn from. What system are you on? We can connect you with others there and get some tips if you'd like.

Excellent explanation of the beginner club tour above by Yaters.
I would say that anyone starting playing TGC2019 would enjoy using beginner clubs. Using them to play, there is much less emphasis on tempo or indeed in hitting dead straight, this means concentration can be given to hitting spots on fairways, approaches to greens, putting, and general course management. These clubs, though they have their limitations, are a great way to learn the basics. It is more akin to playing the very first HB golf game than either of the follow ups. It's just plain good fun.
Also, I think concentrating on trying to play master clubs well ( for those not on Xbox ) with this game may well be pointless with a new game arriving soon, which may have a very different swing. On Xbox I found it to be pointless anyway!

Thank you for the wonderful explanation. To be perfectly honest, I don't expect to compete or even be good, I just expected to get a little tired of not having player interaction quickly. I am a PC gamer. I think the two biggest flaws in my game are keeping my back swing straight and the mount Everest elevation uphill putts. I could see myself playing a few events here and maybe getting some range practice with pro clubs or starting at that level in the upcoming game to improve myself.

With the new game coming out soon-ish, and no real details at all, might be good to just get used to how this game plays and start your TGCT career when the new one drops.

Sort of an interesting time for a newbie to be joining and trying to decide how to go about their TGC career now that we know a new game is just three months away. At this point we can't say anything about what the swing will be like in the new game so learning to play with pro or master clubs now may have to be relearned depending what 2K21 brings. Meanwhile other things like the wind and putting haven't really changed that much through the first three games and acts the same regardless of clubset so those feel like the skills that will most likely translate best to the new game, so maybe they'd be the smartest things to focus on learning first which you could do the same in CC or BCT. The worst part of BCT is that you lose the Tour progression part of the experience which is well worth going through at least once. However at this point there may or may not be a forced Q-School one we switch to the new game so any progress made in the next three months could be quickly lost. Finally if you choose to play in the full Tour and start in CC you'll still lose miserably at first but as you gain experience you will eventually see your name start creeping up the leaderboard and eventually earn promotions to higher tiers. If you stay in BCT you'll lose miserably at first and then most likely continue to lose miserably for as long as you stay here. You will however be playing with some of the top players in the game and if you're the type that's not afraid to ask questions on the forum you'll learn a lot more than you would if you asked those questions in the CC-G or Z forums.
Whatever you decide to do just make sure to enjoy yourself and never let yourself get too discouraged. This game has a steep learning curve but eventually you'll just start to get it and you'll see the scores improve.

A -16 in Rd 3, with a hole-out eagle on #18, which puts me one behind Brad. With white hot Tim still to play Rd 3, he has at least two ghosts to choose from. ππ€ͺπ
