I don't see what the big deal is here ... what advantage does it give the player using it, exactly ? I tend to move from one view to another while a ball is in flight, because ... well, it's part of the game's appeal, camera control. Heck, I almost miss the old days of having to place camera positions manually

I’m not sure there are really that many haters of it. I’ve never noticed any big trend against it.

A few arrogant people who try and force their (distorted) view of how the game "should" be played on other people.
Just let people play how they want (legally)......it's not rocket science....

I know in the U.S.E. league we don't use follow cam for the following reasons-
a) if you have it on when your ball hits the green, you can see breaks that you may not see otherwise, as the ball rolls.
b) without the follow cam, the game is simply more realistic. When you hit the ball in real life you don't grow wings and follow it.
But thats just us in the USE league, and its a voluntary league. I don't know anyone that plays without it exclusively, or hates it.

Distorted View? In a true sim mode there shouldn't be a follow cam. 2 reasons 1) You don't have it in real life 2) The ball roll out gives you a read of the slope on the green. It's not the end of the world though as ghost balls (that play out of turn) give multiple reads from different angles without grids on TST. Maybe the distorted sim view is from having a follow cam on a sim mode. Funny how you criticised a simple change as changing to marker only and left the admin there, now you're back in the admin and now you play that way all the time. I thought you hated marker only and not being able to sweep the green?

What the hell is arrogant about it?? And where is the "forcing??" We're a niche society where only people who want to play do so! What's the problem?? Almost every single one of us (think maybe 2-3 don't) also play aids on societies! Yeah, why don't YOU let people how play how they want to? Why are you trying to stop us by calling us arrogant and distorted? More to the point, why do you even care? Mate, that's a seriously weird post, sorry to call you out, but I find that very strange...

Right, because shooting arcade scores on the so-called "pro" tours is the "non-distorted" view of how the game should be played.

Some of you guys are wayyyyyyyyyyyy off on what Rob is saying. Very clearly, Rob stated that there is no right or wrong way to play. He's NOT stating "sim" is the distorted view, nor is he stating "arcade", or any other "style" is distorted. He is stating that there is a select few people who go above and beyond in every i,t, sentence, and post they make claiming "sim" is the best and that no other way has any merit. You'll routinely see these types derail threads, or call other views, "garbage", "rubbish", "another step backwards", or even call people "cheaters" for using math.
If you fit into the above profile, irregardless if you're a "sim", "arcade", "left foot only", "place anything in here you want", then yes, it's axiomatic your view is severely distorted and that your way is not the only way, nor the right way to play for all people.

My favorite thing about using scout feature is checking out the course features that designers have done. In sim without follow cam you see 20% of the course. I've played sim in the past and what I hate about it is the extra 10-15 minutes a round it takes because some greens are very hard to read.

Actually, as it lands around the green is where I usually switch to one of the other 2 cam views, as they are more cinematic. But, in flight, the follow cam gives a better sense of where my shots are headed.
Let's admit that IRL, most of us can (or could when we were 30) see what an approach does on the green a whole lot better than you can from the POV in-game, even from 150 yards out.
I didnt seem to gain much from it, so never thought of it as unfair advantage, myself. Of course, Im midpack on CC-Z. Sorry to start a beef, though.

Follow cam is great for a ‘cinematic view’ and no follow cam is great for an ‘on the course’ view. Both great options to have for whatever feeling you want from the game.

Or how about the new "add ball spin while in mid air cam" in the upcoming game. The SIM heads are going to love that.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like sitting back and watching the whole flight from my dude’s perspective. Other times I like seeing where it lands and how it reacts to the slope on the rollout

The camera choices in this series is the best I have seen. I have the follow can off but I manual decide when I want to follow it. Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. Hopefully this option is still available.
Now the zoom camera before you hit is certainly a advantage. Not a fan of that but I don't play in societies that use it.
