Welcome to
T H E T U F T S C L U B Pinehurst, NC
West & East Both Published
In 1911, Donald Ross and the Tufts family, founders of Pinehurst Resort, set aside a 774-acre tract of land southeast of the town. Ross had drawn up plans for the site, but did not want to break ground immediately. When he returned, however, the plans had disappeared. In 2016, these plans were discovered during the preparation for the renovations of courses no. 3 and no. 4. With funds stretched thin across the Resort due to the massive construction projects, the resort was forced to sell the land and plans to a development firm, on the condition that Ross' vision be honored down to the smallest detail. While building Ross' lost gem, the firm discovered that there was ample land for a second course to be routed to the west of the original. The Tufts Club's East course - named in honor of the family that envisioned Pinehurst as it exists today - opened on May 23, 2020, during construction of the West. At the moment, a few holes of West are complete and partially visible, yet there is much work to be done. West will also embody Ross' legacy, though it will take a very different form. While East measures in at just 6,653 yards, West will top 7,300 and challenge the world's best.
The East course is published and is my entry for the 2020 Challenge Circuit Design Contest. The idea was inspired mostly by Mid Pines and Pinehurst no. 2. The idea to build West came when TannerBronson mentioned making a Tour version of his own entry. Since I knew I'd have plenty of time on my hands, I thought I may as well build the Tour version right onto the same property - in the form of a whole new course with an entirely different look. The West course will most likely be released within a week or two.
To schedulers: PLEASE do not change time of day. Everything else is fair game (and I'm not allowed to tell you otherwise, so...)

This is a really solid course. Very natural and realistic. You can really tell someone who understands golf course architecture created it. Without a doubt my favourite course of yours so far. Great job.

Please and thank you. Really wouldn't mind the free bumps haha As long as you don't consider yourself an elite designer because then only other elites will be able to critique your course!

After a small amount of harassment... I played this course. I remember this as a WIP. I can't say enough positive things about this course. The lighting is perfect for a the overall feel of the course. The greens are great for my noobish' skill level. The texture work is on point, and planting is great. Just another reason why I will be happy to pull a rank between 70-80th in this competition. Great job tpetro! You killed it sir!
