With the anticipated release of PGA Tours 2K21 in August, I wanted to throw out the question of using the new designer for the upcoming Rookie Design Competition. I personally am making myself familiar with the current tools and items, so don't want to try the new designer on short notice. However, some people may be getting into the designer for the first time with the new release in August. So...
Will this year's Rookie Design competition require the use of TGC 2019 or will the new designer be allowed?
Thanks,

Im sure there will be more/different objects. Some bugs will be worked out. Maybe some options that weren't the before. But for the most part the bones of the designer will all be the same. Keep getting used to the tools. It'll put you ahead of anyone waiting for the new game to get started with the designer.

I am inclined to push the registration back to Sept 1 (its original date) and use the new game - mostly because I don't think courses published in TGC2019 will get very much play, or have any chance to end up on Tour once PGA2K21 is released.
I have to work out the details with the other contest schedulers and see where this event can fit in. I still want a longer design window than we had last year (two and a half months).
Like Justin said, I don't expect the designer to change all that much, except maybe some reorganization of the menus and some additional objects and textures.

ErixonStoneThanks for the update. I have been debating if I should go ahead and get 2K21 or wait a while. If we are going to shift to 2K21 for the design competition, that will help my decision. As always, I will keep watching for updates. I have been testing some ideas, watching tutorials, course reviews, etc. so I am getting pumped for the competition!

My thoughts: if you're going to be designing and have any thoughts about getting feedback and possibly landing a course on Tour, the new game is where you'll need to be. If neither of those things matters, then switching is not really necessary.

UPDATE: The 2020 TGCTours Rookie Design Challenge has been pushed back. This is in response to HB Studios and 2K announcing that PGA TOUR 2K21 will be released on August 21, 2020.
The new registration date is the old registration date, Sept 1, 2020.
Entrants will have to publish their entry in the new game, PGA TOUR 2K21.
Sorry to any design hopefuls who were waiting anxiously for Juiy 1, but it doesn't make sense to waste up to 4 months' work on an outdated game. I want your courses to get the recognition that goes along with participating in a TGCT design contest.

Dang. Don't think I'll have an expendable $60 to drop on the new game when it comes out, was really looking forward to competing.
