I'm trying to get rid of the effect of this lake looking so deep but when I try the secondary water trick, it affects the surface as in the pics. It seems the lower the secondary water is, the less it affects the surface but of course the water seems deeper. Is there any way to make the water not look so deep without affecting the surface? Any help would be appreciated. Before: After:

I dont understand the question. Are you trying to see the bottom of the lake?

Let me try to explain further. I've had a couple of comments from people playing the Beta that the water on this hole looks weird because you can basically see all the way through it so to speak. When I try to fix that as in the pics above, my surface/planting gets skewed. I tried raising the land but that didn't work.

Make sure you only have one water table. If you have 2 anything between the 2 where they overlap will be visible. Its a glitch that some people have used to their advantage but usually shows off some rough sculpting around retaining walls. If that's not the case, you have a bit of an oddity here. I'd start by deleting all the water bodies you have created and place one large one at the height you want. If that doesn't work, try placing the black, flat-roofed buildings a couple feet below the surface. It'll hide the sculpting. Its a bit dark, but looks better than seeing the "dropoff" by the walls. It's tough to tell without seeing it created. Do you stream by any chance?

I think your suggestions will get the job done. Thanks again.

After looking at it again, i'm guessing you placed the water in the second pic and your surfaces disappeared because they were too close to the water level. The water trick should work here. Start over with no water bodies. Place a water body as high as you can go without it affecting the surfacing. Then, place another one above that at the height you want the water to be at. You might see a little of the terrain under the water, but with trial and error you should get a good look.

This course has been a labor of love so to speak as I’ve grown to love this course and appreciate its beauty. I’ve tried my best to recreate the way the course looks, plays and feels. I don’t know if I’ll ever stream my designing process because I feel like there are so many other designers out there that are much more talented and experienced than I am. Don’t know what I can offer that they haven’t already done. We’ll see.

Don’t know what I can offer that they haven’t already done. We’ll see. Doesn’t really need to “offer” anything! Sometimes it’s nice to watch a designer who knows what they’re doing just do what they do! I know that I always take something away from watching a design stream even if it’s just little things as we all see everything at least slightly differently. For example, I never in a million years would have thought to use rocks the way you did on your course! It inspired me to add a small rock wall section to my current WIP.

Is there a tutorial on this water trick anywhere? I am trying to extend my bunker sand into the water to create a beach, but cannot figure it out.
