The Inaugural Playing of the Dirtbag BillyBudd CupThirty two of TGC's most moderate golfer's gather at Horseshoe Bay (Tour) to compete on the international level. Two days of pairs matches will be followed by two days of singles play to attempt to decide whether the US or the Rest of the World hold bragging rights and a slightly battered trophy for the next ten weeks. The Dirtbags started as a rivalry group to add some spice to the normal TGC Tours rounds by Bill Owensby for players in CC-D. The growth of that small group to it's current 9 week schedule with eight teams of four competing both for team and individual glory, has led to our showpiece international challenge match being named in his honour. The current Dirtbag roster contains players from the Pro ranks of Euro and Korn Ferry tours through all of the CC-Pro ranks and several victims of the surge of players who have dropped into CC-E. Those outside CC-Pro all play the four rounds of that tour in addition to any other commitments which is testament to the fun and rivalry which our founder engendered. The Overall Score at Sunday 5.40am BST (You do the math) is;
US 18.5 RoW 13.5
This is with Final Score.
Ashton Fox claims the half point to secure a victory for the US team. The magnitude of their win is still to be decided in the other three matches. Congratulations to Bill and the other 15 players on the US team. Well played the Rest of the World led by Frans, just not quite well played enough. The best news is it's only 10 weeks or so until we can do it all again.We will report the daily results in the following pages along with the banter associated with the Dirtbags. score sheet

I will set up a N American team room in the next few days so that you can give thoughts or strategy.
In the meantime, if you need to discuss anything, feel free to message me, Ashton or Ernie.
I, along with my assistant captains, are working on Day 1 partners. If you have a request let me know asap.

This thread might be quiet but the USA war room certainly is not. We are running analytics, drinking beer, and wearing our red, white, and blue to get ready to take on the ROW. I'm honored to be a Vice Captain especially since I let the team down last time by failing to win the final point. With that chip on my shoulder, I'm ready to do what I can to help the story have a different ending this time. Selfishly, I'm hoping it comes down to a final point and a final pairing with SkyBlueBen because he's mentioned a few times when we've streamed about my shortcomings last time. We know this isn't going to be easy as the ROW has some solid golfers but we know we have some weapons of our own. Next week is even better than all of the team competitions as we dividedly come together for a battle royale that is sure to please! Best of luck to everyone lucky enough to get to play and with that, back to the war room to continue the P&S (plot and scheme).

Yeah SkyBlueBen I had a wee chuckle at the weapons part, just for our non UK guys, a weapon is a derogatory term. Ashton Fox did you just say your team is going to be decked out in red, white and blue? That's all the motivation I need, thank you.

In a moment of cohesion, Celtic Wolf and I collabed to make a quick video of how to play with your same system friends. With the Ryder Cup coming up, people may try to play and practice together so we are hoping to promote that. Thanks a bunch to Pat for dropping everything to help me with this!

I'm going with the most over-the-top jingoistic outfit I can think of practice rounds (and round 2 next week.) This is decidedly not a part of my standard idiom.

I am honoured to have been asked to captain the ROW team to victory in the inaugural BillyBudd Cup! My two vice-captains, Leon en Ben, are currently running some simulations to decide on our pairings for the first two rounds and the best order for sending out our team members in the singles. So far, every single simulation has had the same result; ROW win, scoring their final point in the singles match that involves Ashton... But we are not taking any chances and are checking all possible combinations that the USA boys might come up with. Let's make it a great week all! Best wishes Frans
