Is that the same water effect in game for 4 iterations now then? Yeah one disappointing thing is the graphics for the most part looked the exact same. Hope for new engine next-gen I guess

When do Scarpacci and Arctic Fury return from the 2K21 bunker and give us the ‘inside scoop’ in the game and the courses they made for it?

Seeing a pretty big media blitz for today's announcement, which is a VAST improvement over the previous game's launch. Having 2K run the show is going to help tremendously. None of this "Coming out In Summer"...."Coming out Soon" "Coming out this month"...."Coming out Yesterday (not including the leak a week ago that GDog played" golf.com/news/pga-tour-2k21-video-game/

I am a little in shock. Never thought I would see the day. Really thought they were done with this series. Have to wait till the 14th to see which way this game is going. Hopefully a sim mode or the ability to turn everything off is still there.
Yeah this looks like a better marketing team. Really could not get any worse then the last time. Remember they put it was coming out the PS2 and Stream? LOL.

I think the gameplay right now is balanced and I love the fact everyone is on a level playing field and has over 100,000 courses to choose from. Upgrades to equipment and even, god help us, swing abilities would be sacrilegious. Whether earned or paid for. I quit console golf because of EA sports, I really don’t want this game flushed down the toilet by 2K. I haven’t even mentioned the designer aspect. My thoughts exactly... I'd rather pay a premium for the game- $100, $125? and keep the level playing field than having the game, from a competitive standpoint, turn into TW with micro-transactions. If there is a Pay2Win component of the new game, doesn't mean the fine folks here at TGCT have to abandon the current competitive set-up. Pay2Win is a deal breaker for me.

I used to get very excited about golf game releases, but with the last version that HB released and the total lack of support after only four months; it's difficult to get very excited at all atm. Let's just hope that they've actually learned from their mistakes 🤞 I'm hoping that lack of support was entirely due to them working on perfecting this new release. I doubt that's the case but one can dream.

You don't want to be buying a game and then paying for upgrades. Especially when it will force most to spend big.
WGT is free....yeah right. You have to pay plenty dollars for a pack of three balls with limited hits...and very limited with a meter spiked splash.
Choose equipment in general and would be nice if sponsors were involved such as Nike , ping etc. Different club set with different lofts on clubs.
But no "wear a Nike cap for five dollars and gain 10 yards on your drive" crap.

No game has had a good implementation, but I really liked the progression in TW 08 from 210 yard total distance on the driver (150 yard carry ca) in the beginning - though too much distance in the end with equipment also adding to it. If they do have equipment and brands that effect gameplay, this also needs to be realistic. And there is alot of misconception when it comes to this. Better players hit futher and with greater accuracy compared to amateur golfers. So this thing with less distance equals more accurate is not realistic. You have accurate long hitters, and unaccurate long hitters. You have accurate short hitters, and unaccurate short hitters. Also game-improving equipment do not give less distance. Quite opposite, manufactures of clubs decrease the loft to give more distance. I could go on, but yeah 😊 Yeah that's true but to level the playing field, in a video game sim, you can't give everyone more distance AND more accuracy. That is too much power. Make all options and let the individual player choose their level of risk. We see this play out right here with Masters vs Pro clubs. Masters is literally more distance for less accuracy (in most players). One small slip on Masters means water, OB, heavy rough, or a bunker. On Pro it just means left or right side of the fairway. Pro clubs are giving up 20 yards on the drive to avoid those obstacles that might occur. That's the trade-off. Those type of decisions need to stay consistent if they are to add player attributes or equipment attributes. Ofcourse you can give a player both distance and accuracy. That is what every casual single player gamer expects - they want to hit as far and accurate as the best players to get the feel of playing on the top level in golf. You need however to have proper difficulties - and not this clubset crap. Proper difficulties should give everyone a good experience - for those that want a easy game, and for those of us who wants a more demanding game. And there is no reason not to give every kind of player the proper distance you see on tour if you want to simulate top level golf - which a PGA title should do. You do not need to have a skill system for online play even if you have it for a single player career. Or you can have it optional for societies with a new virtual golfer. And the socieites can then also lock the difficulty - or have a range of difficulties - lock aids allowed etc.

...meh...
Call me a negative Nancy, but I see more pitfalls than announcements which indicate any of the various improvements TGC’s core audience has asked for over the past 2/3 years.
End of an era, I believe - or at least, can see in the horizon as a real possibility.
