IF it's the same 96% across every setting, and IF it's a normal, non overswing 96% (which I imagine it will be since it doesn't fall between 101-105%) then, aside from the Driver (and perhaps a few other shots), it would be the most consistent way to play. It literally takes out 1/2 of the equation leaving only the downswing timing. I'm trying to get some more info out of Craig as we speak, but either way, it won't be hard to test it out Aug 21.
edit: Respawn did a few more practice Slows and you could see the bar change once it hit 101-105%, but once his swing got back to the Slow 96% it was back to normal parameters. So Respawn stated that he believes if you miss the 105% and land on 96% you wont receive overswing penalties. That goes hand in hand with my thinking. Of course, we could both be wrong. I'll verify once I get the game.
2nd edit: Seamount just confirmed that Master clubs, regardless how long you pause the backswing, will always produce 96%.

Working as intended? This seems odd. Almost like 'oops we can't really fix it so we'll make it part of the game we'll just accept'. The logic just seems off to me. I would hate to start off a new season at TGCTours with a rule stating we can't do something that HB has gone out of their way to say they are fully aware of, are fine with it and it is part of the game. :/

How accurate were the shots?

Sad thing about the new game coming is that we will lose a lot of the good courses on the 2019 game

This 96% swing thing, IF it does turn out to be a bit of a 'cheat', could very well be something that could easily be picked up by the API. How about we all just see how this plays out?

After watching hours and hours of streams today, I noticed there was NO 1,2 irons or 2 wood. Wondering if they are gone from the game for good or just from the preview copies that were being played today??

Everybody playing were using brand name clubs, they might still be in the HB Studios golf club set?

I hope there's a 1 iron. I've always have a one iron in my bag with every golf game I've played since links 386 and on-word

I played on Legend today with meters off, and I tried that exploit, err, technique and I couldn’t get it to work. But even if I could, I wouldn’t play that way.
What causes some people to always look for the “gotcha” moment in everything? Why can’t we just play the stinkin game without immediately searching for these asinine tricks? It’s simply a mentality that I don’t understand.
Anyway, if anybody popped by my stream, I want to thank you and I hope you had a good time. Let me know if you had any questions that didn’t get answered today.

This is a great question and it’s in my list of notes to share with the devs (including the 1-iron). 👍🏻

It’s all about the accuracy that comes with it to me. People can dart a 185 yarder all day long if they cant control it. Spraying it around the course with a pop and a prayer isn’t a recipe for success We will have to see. Hopefully the people with the game in hand right now are play testing this. If it’s an exploit they need to push for the fix at launch. It also sounds like something HB could fix without a patch if needed. Maybe just a tuning update. If not then quickly get it in on the launch patch (because every game has a launch patch, right? )

You've fundamentally misunderstood then.
HB_Craig was asked 2x to FIX the 96% slow, to which he made it perfectly clear that there was nothing to fix and the game was operating as intended. He even went on to state "more power" to anyone with the ability to successfully accomplish such a thing.
And the reason a slow backswing was requested in the first place was to see if it was possible to achieve more consistent partials; that is, counting backwards from 105% to say 85%, in place of timing it 70-75-80 and then swinging at 85%.
