Honestly what gets me the most in this whole thing is the blatant arrogance and personal bias of what makes an enjoyable round and good challenge. There are loads of people saying in here they hate the very high winds and the broken mechanics that come with it, yes there are those who say they like it too, but quite a few who don’t. But those complaints fall on deaf ears because your PS4, automatic perfect/perfect, non-api passing swing handles it just fine and YOU enjoy it.
I get it I’m not top 30 WGR so my opinion doesn’t matter around these parts but come on man don’t sit here and tell us you’re listening to feedback and making decisions based on what you’re hearing when it’s really based on what YOUR opinion of a good round is. At least own it and say hey this is what I enjoy.

I enjoyed the setup this week, I was right in it until middle of round 4, got a blue screen on hole 11. Booted back up and was thankfully in the same place, but afterward every swing had an off tempo. I probably should have reset or waited for the next day rather than play it out Hmm. Sounds similar to my issue except every swing was Bow shaped after I came back from power save.

Dale used Very High Winds maybe once or twice every 10 tournaments.... he relied more on default winds as a way to mix things up (since you can't really prepare for it).
I think Tyler doesn't use very high winds maybe once or twice every 10 tournaments.
I'd rather have option 1 than option 2... it produces a much better tournament. In the end it doesn't matter for me.. I only play courses that are set up well or will be fun to play... this week wasn't so I skipped it (problem is.. there's been a lot of that recently).

For tour play i don't think HB have ever replaced tours and tournaments from tgc1,Where you could set up 4 different days of courses and pins/tees etc, where it gave you the option to set up certain set-ups for conditions. Why HB ever took it out and replaced it with societies it beyond me or at least leave it in so you can have some variety nothing worst i feel since TGC1 playing 4 rounds round the same course, with only the variety is the wind,Love the days you could set a par 3 very short but put the pin very tight....its badly missed so in the end its really HB's fault more than the people who select the course to play.Of course they can still ask designers to make a tougher set up not sure if that is still asked. This is a really really good point. I miss when designers had different setups with tees a lot. Really made tournaments more fun. I personally would completely change the angles of multiple holes for a couple rounds and I know many others did that as well. 4 rounds at the same exact course now certainly feels more stale. Exactly, move the tee forward then you can have a wedge approach into a tucked pin with 187 speed on par 4s too, als brings different bunkers into play off the tee. I also enjoyed have a driveable par 4 once or twice per event. All they had to do was allow which tee set is used each round. Designers were smart enough to put say the red tee as the front set on one hole and the next hole put it at the back. But remember societies were introduced so you could play one society against another to make it competitive. Did anyone even bother looking at those stats after an event finished?

There you go Mitch... I believe Canada is leading on a per capita basis. Never been more proud to be Canadian.

I agree with your point that we should have weeks where there isn't any high or very high wind. Ideally the courses are well enough designed that we can get adequate variety just from different firmness and pin positions. Real life PGA tour has plenty of weeks where weather is just pleasant all week, and it should be the same here regardless of what happens to scores.
That said, I honestly think you have the part I quoted backwards. The guys who can pinpoint their iron shots will be better with less wind. It is much more likely that a perfect swing line still gets a bad result in very high winds because it can be difficult to read the difference between a 19 mph wind and a 22 mph wind with just the marker and the effect on your ball flight is pretty big. Guys who can chip and putt and use the draw and fade tend to do well in the high winds.
I absolutely think Tyler has made the right move by sticking more with default green speeds. I disagree with the take (I think it was Tyler's) that high winds are needed to identify the best player, I don't think identifying the best player should be the goal of the weekly setup anyway. We know who the top players are, Vitaly and Chris are going to do fine regardless of conditions and a little bit more opportunity for a wildcard winner or for guys who miss a lot of cuts to make one would probably increase engagement among many players on tour.

My comments weren't meant for you. They were meant for Tyler who controls the scheduling.

The fact is there are people who like certain components and people who dislike those same things, such as high wind, or very firm greens, etc... There are also folks who are adamant that -60 for a tourney is too low, while others see it simply as a function of the game. There's no pleasing everyone but to label it arrogance or personal bias...well, isn't that exactly what you're exercising stating you don't want high winds? Trust me, I'm a guy who's WGR is falling fast because I cannot get a straight line when I swing, and so high winds creates havoc...I'm not a big fan. But playing in no wind...I can't even make a cut because the cut line is -22 or even lower. So what's the trick here? How does a scheduler appease everyone? He can't, simply stated. So while you don't have to like every setup, keep in mind no matter what, there are those who hate it and those who like it...and the same applies to the choice in courses. And certainly Tyler has his own thoughts on how tourneys should be played...but I also know he's hearing the feedback and trying to please the majority. Two realities: 1- We all play the same conditions and that's more than can be said in real life golf 2- Tyler stepped up and volunteered...and for doing that I think everyone owes him a bit of latitude as he figures out how best to provide structure to keep the majority happy. For what it's worth I think he does this pretty well...but the unhappy minority is always the most vocal (see any social media ever!).

We've played 5 tournaments that I've scheduled, 2 were scheduled without VH, 3 with. Of the 9 total I've entered counting future events. 5 with VH wind, 4 without.

For what it's worth I think he does this pretty well...but the unhappy minority is always the most vocal (see any social media ever!). I think you misunderstood my point. My only issue is with the Very High winds. Not the High winds. My point is that in the last 4 weeks we've seen Very High winds in every tournament (save maybe one) and the reasoning is that it's the only way to truly challenge the elite players. That's an opinion. It's also the opinion of a guy who plays on the widely known and accepted easiest platform who also has API issues. Let me ask this. Why is flicking not allowed then? It's in the game and can be learned (it's not a hack). Why do we ban that? Why do we not allow the use of the push/pull swing? Also not a hack. Why don't we play in the rain? There are things in this game we all seem to acknowledge don't work the way "the game is meant to" but we draw the line on other things? We choose to enforce rules. Tyler in this case has no issues with VH winds so he wants to use them. That's fine, he's the scheduler and its his choice. I get it, this is the PS4 good old boys tour and if you ain't one of us, GTFO. I'll keep my opinions to myself regarding the PGA tour from now on and just count my blessings I'm allowed to participate. Gee thanks fellas!
