We are now into the final 16 ours of the British Open Jdvonch has now been joined in the clubhouse by Doinitforjohnny with scores of -13. BAFL99 is in the hunt and has not yet started his final round.
How tough was the 3rd round? Only one player broke par and one other shot par. 25 mph cross winds on many of the holes made hitting fairways and greens extremely difficult on the front 9. Little relief was found on downwind holes because you had to play 2-3 clubs less than normal and land most shots well short of the green.
True links golf!!!
Day 4 weather forecast is for more wind but the direction has switched.

The 2020 British Open has been completed and due to a system "glitch" participants who qualified for the Alternative Event were also able to play in the Main Event. This anomaly created a most unusual result. The winner of the Alternative Event, Doinitforjohnny with an amazing -37 score also tied for the lead in the Main Event with Jdvonch with a score of -13.
The Main Event proved to be so challenging that less than 10 participants broke par over the 4 round event.
We set a new record for participation with 94 entrants out of the 301 members in the Society.

Our first season is coming to a close; we have now begun the playdowns for the WRT Cup. The Top 50 in both the points and earnings for the season to date qualified plus the Top 10 finishers in the Handicap Qualifier are invited for the first phase of the playdowns.
We start at Royal Blackheath located just outside of London. Dating back to the late 1800's this course is flat but not quite as easy as you would think. The greens have subtle breaks and are not the easiest to hold when the conditions are firm.
The Top 25 finishers will move onto the next round.
Season 2 starts soon with some exciting changes to the format and a Two Tier tour system where players with a Main and Alternative at each Tournament. Stay tuned for more information.

Playdowns have begun at Royal Blackheath in the quest for the WRT Cup.
We have completed the first day of the 2 day event and early finishers have completed their 36 holes of qualifying. At the moment Jasmazz is the clubhouse leader with a score of -6. At the moment only 8 golfers have broken par but that will change as the bulk of the competitors will be completing their rounds today. The goal today is to finish in the Top 25 and move on to the next round. The next cut will be much more difficult with only the Top 10 moving on to the finals.
Blackheath is a difficult course without the trickery and gimmics that we see in modern golf course architecture. It is flat with minimal bunkering and only one water hazard that potentially comes into play. The greens all have open fronts so accessibility is not an issue on the longer holes. However the greens are quite small and with the moderately stiff winds in Round 1 hitting the target was not easy. Most of the holes played with a cross wind which for most players is much more difficult to gauge than a tailwind or headwind.
Good luck to all the competitors.

The semi finals have been set and we are now at Seminole GC in Florida. Only the Top 10 will move on to the finals being held at Shinnecock Hills.
Seminole is a typical Florida course meaning it's relatively flat, has a fair bit of water but where Seminole stands apart is the massive number of sand traps.
The course will be playing soft in the 1st Round due to heavy rains the night before which means that scoring will probably be lower than normal. The 2nd round will probably play completely different with the harsh Florida sunshine quickly drying out the greens and fairways.
My guess is that players will need to shoot -10 to guarentee themselves a spot at Shinnecock Hills for the 4 Round finale

6 hours to go in the Semi-finals at Seminole and it looks like the finalists have been set.
We are heading to Shinne**** Hills to play a 4 Round final.
The 10 qualifiers in the main events will face a wide variety of conditions and playing from the championship tees. For the Main Event the conditions are as follows"
1st Rnd 2nd Rnd 3rd Rnd 4th Rnd Wind Med from North High From East Very High from South Low from West Greens Fast and Firm Mod and Mod Very Fast & Very Firm Slow and Soft Fairways Moderate Firm Very Firm Very Soft
I've mixed it up so there will be no opportunity to get accustomed to the conditions.
Alternative Event will be playing from the front tees with slightly less demanding conditions
Good luck to everyone.

WRT/GGT Finals have begun today at Shinne**** Hills on Long Island. The Main Event has 10 golfers lead by Ufgatorkyle who won the semi-final in convincing fashion with a score of -20. He has won the past 2 events but the question is will he make it three in a row?
DelleAllisBush, Barrylavety, Eck1313, AGOATNAMEDSETH and Bafl99 who have had numerous Top 10 finishes all season will be hot on his tail along with relative newcomers Slake_Moth, DojerMcflof, Prewar and ChrisGreg10 who are looking to notch their first wins of the season in the all important event.
The conditions are going to be varied with dramatic changes each day so the golfers will be facing dramatically different winds and green speeds.
Congratulations to BBNations85 for his win in the Consolation Semi Final. The Consolation Final will be played on a shorter version of the course with milder conditions. There will be some low scores as many great players had off days and did not qualify for the Main Event. That being said Shinne**** Hills has some teeth and if you leave yourself on the wrong part of the green 4-5 putts are possible.

We are at the half way point of our 4 day WRT/GGT Cup Final.
8 of our 10 Qualifiers have completed their 4 rounds but 2 have not. BAFL99 is known for his strong finishes and newcomer Slake_Moth could still overtake AGOATNAMEDSETH who currently has a 6 shot lead over the field with a score of -23. Newcomers Prewar and ChrisGreg10 are in with -17 and -16 scores.
In the Alternative Event we have 6 golfers within 5 shots of the leader Jamesbirchbrand who is in with a score of -33. Sweeping_foot6 made a massive surge up the leaderboard with a final round 57 but fell 2 shots short of the leader.
Season 2 begins on Friday with a 2 round Qualifier to determine who starts the season in the Main Tour and who is in the Alternative Tour. Stay tuned for a post outlining the changes as we move forward.

Global Golf Tour – Season 2 Starts on July 17th
The Society will consist Gold Tour and Silver Tour. The Season will consist of: - 31 Tournaments - 2 - 1 Round Qualifiers on different courses - 2 Majors - 2 Championships - 10,000 Bonus Point Playoff Qualifier - Playoffs - Global Golf Tour Cup
A change from Season 1 is that the tournaments will be in varying lengths from 1 Round to 3 Rounds with the Majors and GGT Cup Final scheduled for 4 Rounds.
The first 2 tournaments will be qualifiers on "non-rated" courses and the conditions will be moderately easy.
The top 25 points and/or earnings from the qualifiers will determine ho begins in the Gold Tour and the rest will go into the Silver Tour. In addition anyone who has won a Tournament on the Global Golf Tour will be in the Gold Tour and is not at risk of being demoted to the Alternative Tour.
Presently we have between 40 and 80 participants in each tournament, by having the Top 25 plus past event winners in the Gold Tour this will give us about a 50/50 player allocation between the Tours. As we gain more people and I start to see that around 100 people playing in each event then the Top 50 people in points/earnings plus past winners will be in the Gold Tour
After each event the seedings will change and you could move up to the Gold Tour or down to the Silver Tour depending on your points and earnings.
Each Tournament will have bonus earnings added to the prize fund. These funds come from the Society bank account and from generous donations from members. In most cases the Gold Tour has a larger Bonus Fund this enables members the Gold Tour to have a slight advantage in staying ahead of others in the Silver Tour. However, in Events 9, 15, 21 the Silver Tour tournament will have significantly higher earnings bonus which will enable them to earn more and be promoted up to the Gold Tour.
TGC2019 determines how the payouts are allocated between participants. It is generally thought that the top 75 in each tournament receive points/earnings. Those finishing in the Top 5 earn significantly more than the rest. Finishers in the 6th to 10th spots receive sizeable payouts as well while the rest of the finishers receive progressively less. By finishing in the Top 10 and playing regularly you will solidify your chances of remaining in the Gold Tour or being promoted up from the Silver Tour.
Gold Tour will have tougher playing conditions, Silver Tour will be set up a little easier.
For our 2 Majors the Gold Tour size will be increased to the Top 50 plus previous winners.
The very confusing and much hated Handicap Qualifier has been eliminated and replaced with a “10000 Point Bonus Qualifier”.
Anyone joining the Society after the Qualifying tournament be placed in the Silver Tour and as they score points and earnings they will be able to move up into the Gold Tour.
Currently the Bonus Fund is sitting at 120,000. Any donations received before Tournament #5 will be added to the Season 2 Bonus Fund, any received after the 5th Tournament will be added to the Season 3 Fund.

The Global Golf Tour Cup has officially been awarded to AGOATNAMEDSETH after his convincing 6 shot victory at Shinnecock. The tournament was over 4 rounds and conditions were completely different for each round plus each day the wind direction was from another direction. Over 3 of the 4 rounds the scores among the 10 finalists were very close however the difference was Day 3. On that day we had very high winds off Long Island Sound combined with concrete hard fairways and greens topped off with 187 speed greens. AGOATNAMEDSETH mastered the conditions and distanced himself from his competitors.
In the Alternative Event we had 58 finishers with Omahaak47 surging from the pack late on the final day to snatch victory away from Jamesbirchbrand by 0ne shot. The top 10 finishers were within 8 strokes so it was a very competitive event.

Season 1 Wrap Up
What a great inaugural season for the Global Golf Tour (GGT). We began on April 27th with 5 members and 10 weeks later we wrapped it up with 318 members. The Global Golf Tour is unique as we are one of the only Societies that strictly adheres to a Handicap limit of +20. Many other Societies claim they have a limit but the Society owner allows people with better than +20 handicaps to compete in order to keep their Society alive.
We are very selective about which courses we play because courses with lower slope ratings (under 55) and/or have high ratings (over 75) will result in players breaking par to have their handicaps surge well past +20.
Course conditions were definitely challenging in Season 1 with a wide variety of changes each day. We play realistic Tour conditions. Courses in areas known for windy conditions will be played under windy conditions. If it was raining the fairways and greens were soft and the greens slower than normal. Naturally at our two Majors the conditions were similar to what was played at the Masters and British Open.
The GGT events had on average 60 to 90 participants each week which was amazing given our small size. The most exiting statistic was the breadth of talented players we attracted. We had a total of 33 different event winners in Season 1 and only 5 golfers won more than 1 tournament. That is an amazing statistic!!
Season 2 has some exciting changes which includes a Gold and Silver Tour where people will initially be allocated based on their results in the 2 round Qualifying Tournament. After that participants will be placed in their respective Tours based on their points and earnings total. Please see the GGT Season 2 thread for further information.
Here are our final results:
Points Championship was won by Gopack2017 with a total of 2536 points with DelleAllisbush right on his heels with 2488 points.
Earnings Championship was won by DelleAllisBush with 9710 and 2nd place was BarryLavety with 9482 and Jarbs58 3rd with 8464.
Global Golf Tour Cup winner - AGOATNAMEDSETH
Most Victories was a tie between GoPack2017 and Gazclark1981 with 3 each
Most Aces was a tie between Ahmed_919, NJMorganII and Alvarito1511 with 2 each.
Most Top 10 Finishes was DelleAllisBush 14, BarryLavety 12, Eck1313 & Jarbs58 with 11 each
The GGT Player of the Year winner is DelleAllisBush
