Congratulations to Whineycracker52 on his 2nd victory of the season at the Mallorca Open with a 3 round score of -20. There was a co-winner of this event however he has been asked to refrain from participating in further club events due to breaking the club's Fair Play Policy.
We have now moved north to Sweden where we are about half what through the Swedish Meatball Cup at Wasby GC. Course conditions were soft and easy for the 1st round leading to numerous scores in the high 50's. The early finishers in the 3 round tournament have confirmed that conditions were not quite so inviting for the final rounds.
The early leader in the clubhouse is GoinOnions2314 with an impressive -27 score. I do not think that score will hold up but we shall see.

We are into the final 12 hours of the Swedish Meatball Cup and we now have a new leader with Omahaak47 taking the lead.
We then move up to northern Norway to play one of the remotest courses in the world. While the daylight hours will be long the playing conditions are going to be difficult. It's a short course so those that can handle the winds and master their wedge play should score well.

Congratulations to DeleAllisBush for his wire to wire win in the Arctic Circle event. Being from Sweden he had a clear advantage over the rest of the field because he had no problem playing in the cold and windy conditions.
We are half way through the Olde English Cup being held at The Belfry. Among the early finishers DeleAllisBush is currently in 2nd place with BarryLavety from Scotland leading in the clubhouse with a blistering -29.
We are off to Scotland for the next two events. Royal Dornoch followed by one at nearby Nairn. They are only 60 miles apart (less than 20 by the crow flies) but they are vastly different styles of links courses.

Congratulations to BarryLavety on his victory in the Olde English Cup held at The Belfry. His -29 score narrowly beat out DeleAllisbush -28 (last week's winner) and a trio of golfers (Plunderedsouls, Alvarito1511 & CGrisold00) who shot -27.
Watch out for Alvarito1511 he is new player (Level 15) and looks like he will be a force on the tour.
We are now up in northern Scotland playing at Royal Dornoch. It's summer like conditions in Scotland with relatively light winds and easier than normal conditions.

18 hours to go in the Scotch & Haggis Amateur up at Royal Dornach. Once again local boy, BarryLavety, has the clubhouse lead with a -11 score leady Windy-City-Snlpa by one shot. Dornoch is not long but it is extremely challenging with undulating greens that can leave a golfer scratching his head at times.
Not sure the -11 score is going to hold up. You have to figure Gopack2017 is waiting to make a late charge on the final day.
Weather Forecast for the next tournament in Nairn is sunshine and alm winds. It's going to be a shootout if those conditions persist.

We are half way through the "Stroll at the Beach" tournament being held on Nairn Golf Club. Balmy and windless summer weather has turned this into a low scoring affair. Once again Windy-City-Snipa is up in the lead among the early finishers with a couple of other prior winners (PlunderedSouls and Omahaak47) also on the leader board.
With about 30 hours to go there is plenty of time for someone to take over top spot. I'm standing by my prediction that it's going to take a score of at least -40 to win.
We are off to Germany next for their national championship event. The head of the tournament committee is determined to make this a true German test. I guess that means it will be tough and unforgiving.

Congratulations to Gazclark1981 on his victory at the Stroll by the Sea Invitational. As one might guess by the name the tournament was set up to be an easy stroll. We played at Nairn Golf Club with no wind, moderate greens and the forward tees resulting in record low scores. Gazclark came in at -42 over 3 rounds beating DeleAllisBush by one shot.
At the time of the scheduling Nairn was unrated which meant these low scores would not adversely effect handicaps but on the eve of the event after I did my last check online the course was given a rating. As a result many handicaps were pushed up over +20. I apologize for this glitch and frustration it may have caused.
Today we are in Germany at the Deutschland Open. This course plays long and with windy conditions it will be a much stiffer test than Nairn.
Good luck to all the participants.

Auf Wiedersehen to Germany as BAFL99 takes home the German Open Championship with a late surge posting a -23 score to defeat Roythaboss790 by 3 shots at the challenging Green Eagle Nord course. Yours truly made a rare appearance in the top 5, maybe one day I will win an event.
With his first win on the WRT Tour BAFL99 became the 20th different winner of an event in our inaugural season. Talk about parity!!!!
We now are in Canada for the next 2 events. We begin in Nova Scotia for the first ever tournament in Canada. Being a seaside course weather will be an issue. Round #1 is being played in wet weather, that means soft greens and minimal roll on the fairways. It's a short course so this should mean Round 1 scores will e low. The weather forecast calls for more normal conditions on the 2nd and 3rd rounds, being a coastal course that means high winds. The final round will be a battle of course management and any score in the mid to upper 60's will catapult you up the leaderboard.

Hi there,
I’m very new to the society and am very much enjoying it!
I just wondered where you can find the up to date points totals for the season to see how we stack up against the leading earners.
Many thanks,
Chris

We are now into the final 15 hours of the Maritime Classic at Cabot Cliffs. Conditions on the final day are what you would expect for a seaside course and that means wind. The greens have dried out and are now lightening fast.
Of the early finishers we have a pair of co-leaders (Beef2468 and Wilna38) who are in the clubhouse with scores of -28. If these scores stand we will have another first time winner on the WRT.
We have one more event in Canada at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club which is hosting the Canadian Open. Then we are off to the British Open for what promises to be the toughest test of the season.

If you go to the Statistics section of the Society you can see where you stand in terms of points and earnings to date as well as many other stats. The points and earnings is the most important as those will allow you to compete in the First Flight of the Majors and the season ending tournament.
You want to get into the Top 50 of either the Earnings or Points category.

The new Canadian Open champion is Gaz_Royds86 as he narrowly hung on to the fast charging Zste2311 in the final round to win by one shot with a three round score of -30.
Hamilton Golf Club played easier than expected due to the wet weather in June which made the greens softer and slower than anticipated. A new record number of participants in the World Rookie Tour (over 75 members started the event) feasted on the generous course setup with a long jam of players on the leaderboard.
Things are going to be quite different today as the British Open begins play at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.

Day 1 of the British Open, our final major of the season, has been completed. We have 2 divisions the first being the main event consisting of the 25 highest points and earnings accumulators for the season plus past winners and the alternate event for the remaining members.
The Main Event is being played under very difficult conditions off the back tees the moderate to high winds and tough greens. One round is played in the rain so there will be minimal roll on the fairways but shots into the green will land softly. At the moment the clubhouse leader is Jdvonch with a 4 round score of -13 with perennial leaderboard occupant DeleAllisBush finished at -10. The other early finishers are all over par. It's possible that the -13 score will be enough to win the British Open.
In the Alternative Event it's a completely different story. The course was set up from the middle teees with little or no wind and softer greens. Among the early finishers AGOATNAMEDSETH is the leader with a remarkable -36 with BUDDY2SHOES-KEV1 right behind him at -34. These are fantastic scores under any conditions at Royal Portrush.
Next update after Day 2

Day 3 of the British Open is now upon us and The Beast known as Royal Portrush has awoken from it's slumber. Heavy rains soften the greens on Day 2 of the Main Event making it a day for lower than normal scores.
High winds, very firm greens combined with slick surfaces will make for some tough conditions as we move towards the finish. Jdvonch still leads with his posted -13 score in the Main Event and AGOATNAMEDSETH seems to have his name on the Alternative Cup with his -36 score.
The key to success in Rounds 3 & 4 is to stay below the hole and if you are going to miss the green miss it in the right spot. Aim for the fat part of the greens and play for pars.
How tough is Round 3? We had one player shoot 20 shots higher in the 3rd round compared to his 2nd Round score.
