Sorry for the lag here guys. I had to ranger 3 of the 4 pins myself unfortunately. I play on PC so that doesn’t allow for multiple consoles to test it out. I had zero lag so I kinda figured it wouldn’t be an issue. Again, my apologies for that.

I’m -17 through two with an 8 and a 9 under. Feel like it should make it to the weekend but we’ll see. I’m going to agree with CoinHen. I love this course, I can still remember how much I enjoyed it the first time I experienced it...the general atmosphere that was created with the lighting/weather is top notch. However, the lag is heavy. In the end I know a lot of it kicks in after the shot, but it still seems to get in your head after a while and takes away a bit from the experience. I've noticed the lag is bad on 3 or 4 holes for me and hasn't really cost me anything other than on a par 3 i missed a 5-6 foot birdie because of the lag that happened while trying to putt it instead of after.
I really do like this course a lot though. Very appealing visually and it seems to be a bit more unique than what i've seen on the Euro so far. Love the tee shots that really make you think how to attack it and depending on wind can really make the same hole play completely different from day to day. One day you can blast it over the bunker and cut the corner for a short approach and the next it's playing it down the other side to keep it safe leaving a much longer approach. Or figuring ways to cut/draw the ball to cut corners and deal with wind. Or there are others that you may just hit it too long and have water come into play if the bounce and roll out are big enough.

Round 1: Started with a missed birdie of under 10 feet which seems to be a common theme for me on the first hole of every tournament. Could not get anything going as i either missed the green or missed a short birdie through the first 6 holes before holing out a 60 yard Eagle on 7. Missed another short birdie on 8 before making another Eagle on 9 and then 3 straight pars before another Eagle on 13 and I'm sitting at -6 through 13 with 3 Eagles and 0 Birdies...such a weird round. Managed to birdie 4 of the last 5 holes to get to -10. Round 2: Started with another short birdie miss on 1 and struggled through another slow start. Managed 9 birdies and 1 bogey to finish at -8 to be -18 at the cut which i think should be good enough for the weekend. Feeling pretty good so i head to the next... Round 3: Started with another short birdie miss on 1...i hate this hole because it's so easy yet i can't seem to make a putt. Another slow start but this time there was no major recovery...i just struggled through as i think this was by far the hardest pin places for me. There were 3-4 holes where the pin was back with severe slopes guarding it and i was off by inches on all of them and I didn't just get punished with a long putt every single one rolled completely off the green. I really like this course but there is nothing more frustrating than these type of pin locations. I had one on a par 3 that was tucked way back it hit on the slope took a nice bounce and i'm thinking it's clear and i'm gonna have a good birdie chance to have it roll completely off the green and was left with a 30 yard chip. That's fine with a pin up front and a false front but to have a back pin placement and have a good shot punished that severely about makes me want to rage quit. Finished -5 this round and gonna take a break before heading to round 4. That round was maddening. I was sitting at -17 after 2 rounds and shot -3 my 3rd round lol. Didn't even play poorly just couldn't make a putt it seemed. -9 round 4 for a -29 total, maybe 54th? Hopefully that does make the cut and I'll be down to 2 demotion marks from 4 a couple weeks ago. I think designers feel like they need to create these slopes in order to not make the course too easy. In my opinion the fairways are too easy (too wide) on most courses and there are too many greens with mount everest slopes.

BEAUTIFUL course. I especially enjoyed the layout and thoughtfulness that went into every contour, challenging you to play great risk/reward shots. Unfortunately, like some others, I had SEVERE tempo issues, ranging in a 50% range of perfect/perfect attempts. It kinda through my overall rhythm off for my whole game.
Again, I loved the course. I shot -9, -9, -6, and -7 for a -31 total. With all the wonky tempo's, I'm just happy to make my cut for my first Euro event. Cheers.

As suspected, I'm going to miss the cut this week. Already put in a bunch of practice rounds for next week. Let me say, be prepared to bring out the long irons next week. Lots of approach shots with 5 iron or longer.

In my opinion the fairways are too easy (too wide) on most courses and there are too many greens with mount everest slopes. It's because almost every top designer learned that wide fairways = nicer looking courses, so fairways are now huge and greens are the main defense. Some tournaments I hit 90+% fairways for the 4 rounds, which is very unrealistic of course IRL

Off to a bad start, took some great practice swings from the fairway on 1, then had a slow downswing, had the chip roll out about 15 yards, then missed the putt right over the edge. Second hole I badly missed an 11 foot birdie. Finally birdied 3, from 8 feet, to get back to even, but had another slow downswing off the tee on 4, and missed a 17 foot birdie by 3 inches on 5. After a par on 6 things improved and I finished the front 9 birdie-birdie-eagle. Started the back 9 the same way I started the front, fast downswing on the approach, flop that ran way past the hole, missed putt, bogey. Birdied 3 of the next 4, but on 16 I had a 4 yard chip roll out 12 yards and missed the putt. Birdied 17 and 18 to get to 07, not terrible but I gave away 3 bogeys with bad tempo approaches followed by bad short shots.
Second round didn't start any better. Approach shot was a good swing but the wind didn't move the ball at all and I ended up on the fringe in the back. Missed the birdie putt, then lipped out the 8 foot par. Birdied 2 after hitting the pin on my approach. Missed a 16 foot birdie on 3 though after I left a pitch way short. Sent an 11 foot birdie putt 20 feet long on 4 but made the par from the fringe. Birdied 5 and 6 then put an 8 foot birdie putt 25 feet long on 7 and missed the par. Then missed an 8 foot par on 8, and missed a 40 foot eagle by 3 inches on 9. Needed to birdie most of the back 9 to have a chance at making the cut but instead I birdied one, parred seven, and bogeyed 18 by 3-putting and missing a par from 4 feet.
So another missed cut because of terrible putting and chipping.

Stopping after Round 3 yesterday paid off HUGE dividends as i played the round of my Euro career so far. I've shot better rounds on Web last year but since promoting up at the start of this year i have not played very well at all.
Round 4: Started off with my 4th straight par on 1 after my putt skimmed the edge but then my approach game and putter caught fire as i hit 8 straight birdies to close out the front 9. Approaches were very solid and kept managing to get myself in the 8-12 foot range and i'm usually 50/50 from that distance but i hit everything. Parred 10 and then hit a tough downhill putt that broke right for birdie and then another birdie on 12 before hitting a 12 foot eagle putt from the fringe on 15. Parred the next 3 and finished birdie, birdie for a -14 final round.
-10, -8, -5, -14 = -37 total
Not sure where that puts me but after missing 5 straight cuts this is 2 cuts in a row and finally feeling like my game is coming around a little.

Made the cut at -15, then it was back to struggle mode. Just couldn't get any balls close to the pins. Ended up at -6 Hopefully I can at least get a good finish.

-12 in round 3; happy! Now wouldn't it be nice if I could follow up -8, -10, -12 with -14 in the final round.... I'll take anything close to the previous three rounds though!! Best wishes Frans

Played round 4 and happy to finish off with a solid -10. 2nd 9 could have been better but I'll take it. And 3 rounds in a row without bogeys so it's defenitely getting there. Gonna be somewhere middle of the pack. GL everyone finishing!

A little disappointed with my last round: bogey-free but could only get it to -8
-38 for the week, which I will take!! 😊
Best wishes Frans
