-19 through two.
Played with my regular controller in round one, had no feel, sprayed it around and shot -7.
Then played round two with my oldest controller, hit it pretty well and shot -12.
So I have a choice: play with a controller that I can hit fairly straight but have to feather the downswing to avoid a fast; and have to suffer some very fasts out of the blue with perfectly normal swings: or use my newer controller and shank everything if I'm not absolutely perfect with it? This game is so broken.

Finished at -42 I'm probably going to stick with my old controller for a bit to see if I can get some consistency. At least I can play with a bit of confidence with it, as it usually goes in the direction where I'm aiming It's like playing with a hair trigger though, it really is very sensitive tempo wise and I got a few random very fasts with it, and a few fasts that weren't played for. Luckily there was no water involved when they happened. EDIT - I holed my flop on the second in round three with this garbage swing. More proof of a completely broken game: this shouldn't have gone anywhere near the hole.

I feel your pain Bradley. I can't even get a straight back-swing any longer. Good grief. -16 after two...see ya next week.

For how hard the greens were for this event, some of these scores are literally unbelievable...

Actually they're a bit more reasonable after 3 rounds. -29 after 2 rounds was crazy...

For how hard the greens were for this event, some of these scores are literally unbelievable... It's the secret putting code. Some know it, some don't. Some use the craziest calculations to come up with the correct line to the hole. No golfing judgement required, just a counting method. Personally I can't be bothered with all that. I take a glance at the flow of the beads and reckon how much they'll move the ball off line. Much more natural that way but I suppose if you want to win badly enough you'll use any method...

Same here. Most of my putting method is just feel and muscle memory.

The click-method putting is one of...no, the biggest reason why I've advocated for marker-only putting in the past (think it's marker only...). Basically, you still have the little triangle, but the game doesn't allow you to worm cam down the entire line of the putt in every single situation. Been a while since I've messed with it or tried it again since I was so roundly shouted down last time lol but I've always thought that would bring a slight bit more "realism" (kind of) to putting - at least doesn't allow for some mathy click nonsense for every single putt.

It would be great if the putting was "True Sim" style while keeping all the other putting aids as is (Scouting cam and all)... It is very possible to read the greens without the lines in the game plus it adds to the realism and would separate the best of best "GOLFERS". This would take away the mathematical B.S. and make the game fully skill based with that change. For the hightest level of competition (PGA) this only makes sense considering the ridiculously low scores being put up every tournament by the same guys. Reading greens is a huge part of what makes the game of golf so challenging... Since it is definitely doable why are we not competing this way? If virtual golf ever became a Pro Esport (Which it SHOULD!) there would be no doubt that this would make the most sense so we should get used to it now.

Btw, I think this change would only be necessary for the "PGA". I would keep it the way it is for all the other tours b/c I'm sure it would turn off some people to the tours in general... Anyway, just my opinion

I hate putting without beads, tried true sim and just can’t read putts without them. What would be good in my opinion, is a short preview, so nothing showing at all when you have a putt, you press a button and get to see all the relevant beads (not a putt preview) for a very short time then they’re gone. You then can’t use preview again until you have made putt. I don’t mind putting as is, one of the best parts of the game for me. Just my thoughts at 0100hrs, maybe I just need to sleep 💤

You don't need to read the greens in TST at all. How so? In a practice round simply take notes denoting the break of the green around the hole, so during your actual round, you already have a general idea how each putt will react. When I play TST the only green I look at is the minimap (circle on PS4) and see where my avatar is in position to the pin. 12 Oclock position = 40% break, 3 Oclock position = 75% break, 6 Oclock postion = 110% break, etc.
People with a desire to make this game more parallel to real life Professional golfing need to chart, note, powerpoint, google earth, and ruler it up!

Hopefully the next version features a contour green reading system that's somewhere between the neon lines eyesore and naked no grid of TST.

Definitely would be a fan of a putting system that includes beads and a worm cam view from behind the hole and behind the ball but no moveable camera at all on the greens. You get those locked views and nothing else. That would remove the math stuff and still allow you to see what you need to see to make putts.
I just found out about the putting math system a couple months ago and couldn't believe it. Tried it out and it definitely works, but there's no way I could ever take that long to play a round and it felt way too technical for me.

theduke21 I'm a big fan of math putting, at least when I'm not playing with friends online (otherwise takes too long). What system did you find out a few months ago? I've never liked the click system as I feel it's very inaccurate. LOTS of guys use it. I know Tim, TGCT founder is a click putter. To each their own though.
