Well that was a journey! Played my first round with a couple of turn based ghosts as I had a bit of time. Delighted to see my old TGC1 and 2 ghost rival CongoGB back on the Korn Ferry Tour, it was like the old days! Still all in black I see Gary This course is a battle. First round I got off to a decent start but struggled with the tempo which left me a lot of 20/30 foot putts, and I didn't make a lot. Reached the turn at -3 but then had a laggy VS backswing off the tee at 10. Made a great par save there but wasn't so lucky on 12 when another laggy swing off the tee hit the drink and I dropped a shot. Finally made a putt on 16, curling in a beautiful 30 footer, and promptly gave it straight back by 3 putting 17 from a decent position on the green. So I'm -2 on the 18th tee thinking I need to make something happen. I did, perfect tee shot, driver off the deck in to the middle of green and then this... Just what I needed! -4 not the score I wanted but it felt an awful lot better than -2! Played round 2 on my own because I remembered why I didn't like playing against Congo (great back 9 Gary ), and made a great start with 4 birds in the first 6. But then had a wobble, had the perfect club for the approach in to the par 5 7th but hit a slow and couldn't get up and down from the bunker. Another slow on 9 got wet again, but made a good bogey from 3 off the tee, and then pars on 10 and 11 and I'm still just -3 for the round and probably way off the pace. And then it turned again, beauty of a tee shot on the short par 4 12th gave me a kick in eagle. A couple of lip outs sandwiched a birdie on the slightly strange par 5 15th, and I'm on the 17th at -6 and -10 for the tournament. I know I need more, and again it happened for me. Holed a lovely 40 foot uphill putt on 17 for birdie, and holed a rare chip in on 18 after getting in all sorts of trouble off the tee for another one. After all that 68 and 64 for -12 at the cut. Like Dan, I have a feeling that might have half a chance. I don't like 15, but apart from that really enjoyed the battle the course provided. I'm knackered after that! Haha, yes, I'm up here for a bit after spending a nice time chilling out on CC-A. Accidentally found myself promoted and figured I'd give it half a shot this time instead of stropping off back down again. Pleasantly surprised myself with -13 at the cut. Had a half decent Round 3, and 4 would've been a ton better apart from a triple late on. We'll see how long I last, but nice to see the old guard here!

Liked the course and setup for the first two rounds. Glad I practiced it first because the driver was swapped for 2 wood a few times. Also to learn about risk rewArd holes like 18. Thinking that 131 was going to be at the cut line, the second round was a bit white knuckle after a 65 start. But a pretty lucky eagle in rd2 on #12 was a boost. 129(-15) should carry through to the weekend.

After a couple of days of intense rehabilitation and therapy I managed to go back to the course. The reality of +1 in R1 and +4 in R2 giving me +5 at the turn had become slightly more palatable. An early three-putt triple bogey and several other indiscretions led to another over par round of +1. Honey Badgers are nothing if not resilient and a final round without major issues and a few good shots saw a slightly more acceptable -4 for final circuit. I don't think there is any benefit in lengthy discussion of who poked who in the eye and with which stick. Suffice to say that Art Vandelay has been given an easy week in the Battle of the Basement and my week finished at +2 up mup kupen nup

-10 for the week Kevin Not bothered about the score but i might, might, have got my straight line back....we'll see.
Tough pin positions on round 3, a foot too long on a few putts leaves a 12 yd chip to return

Round three, hole 1, tee shot to bunker, bunker shot to bunker, over hit a putt, under hit a putt, double bogey. Hole four, short of the green, under hit a chip, over hit a chip, double bogey. Found the water on hole eight but somehow just dropped one shot. Five over after nine which had to be my worst front nine on tour. I pulled back a couple of shots on the back nine, should have pulled back another one or two but it was not to be. +3 for the round. That round was a blast, fighting to contain the damage, then fighting to reduce the score was so much fun, not very successful but fun none the less. I got punished when I played poorly but never felt punished because of the course, which is what difficult rounds should be.

You have put up a number I might not be able to match. Unless I dig deep into my inner Art and put up more Vandelarian efforts. Onward!

Made the cut and finished at -30(258) which is a couple short of my normal goal and 10 shots behind the leader. I’ll take that anytime. Round three was very tough in the winds and pin positions. Kudos to Dan for putting that one later in the week so you had some idea of the course pitfalls and opportunities. On to next week.

Round 4 kicked off with a chirp, then the grind began. Missed a few, scrambled plenty (including after I Franss'd my drive on 12). Then I stuck the landing on 13, now -2. Navigate 15 much better (that second shot area bunker on the right is PURE EVIL!), then I just kicked a little sand in Greg's face on 17 & 18. 4 under round and tourney. Really enjoyed the course. Sorry not sorry Greg. I bought a new mat, you'll find the key under it. And PLEASE no eating in the barca. Onward!
