This week we head to the mountains and a course designed by one of our own ddixjr509. It’s always a pleasure to play a course by a fellow kornholer. I know that I will be thinking about David as I take to the first tee, as I take a couple of practice swings to warm up, as I power that first drive down the fairway, as I wonder where my ball went as it’s to fu***ng dark to see where the hell it went, as I think playing a mountain course where severe drops by starlight might not have been a good idea after all. I have complained about golf course names before. It’s not that hard to think of a good golf course name, even as I am writing this I can think of a few. “Ye Olde Golf course” “18 holes Golf links” “Fairways and Greens Country Club”. All names that tell you that it’s a golf course. Starlight Lake though, sounds more like a place where a gang of horny teenagers are brutally murdered by a axe wielding maniac who himself was accidentally killed by another group of horny teenagers thirty years previously because he was different as he liked to dress up as a woodland creature. Or it could be the name of a place where a bunch of little ponies that believe friendship is magic live and show the true meaning of friendship. O my god, I just noticed a common theme, dressing up as a animal, little ponies, straight, David is a furry. David, I apologise, in no way did I mean to mock this by ranting about a course name. How cruel of me, The Korn Ferry is welcoming and open to all. I am going to show my support for you, hold on one second while I change my clothes. This is a picture of me next to my bedroom window and on behalf of all members of The Korn Ferry, I am delighted to announce the first tour course designed by a furry. So come on everyone, don your favourite animal costume as you head to the mountains to play and enjoy this fantastic course, good luck, have fun. P.S yes 15 is a meany pants hole, deal with it.

Donned my crocodile suit for the rounds, gawd, those short and stubby arms and legs ain't made for walking up and down mountain sides!
Parred the opening 6 holes and made a few birds in the last 14 holes.
Round 2, parred a stretch of 6 holes from 12-17 and made a few birds in the other 14 holes.
A pair of -7's, will be cut line watching. Not very confident of making it.
Beautiful course this week.

This is my costume of choice when I'm in Designer and coincidentally the IRL inspired Starlight Lake is about 15 min away from Crystal Lake- I suppose Vorhees' Walk Less Spoiled would've been more a more interesting course name here. 15 is a meanie hole- and it probably cost me a deeper run in the World Cup Design contest. Par is good here. My one Designer tip- the best layup for the approach is left fairway past middle fairway bunker. I like the conditions set-up- lure everyone in with easy conditions- and progressively get tougher and brutal (much like a Friday the 13th movie?) My best guess for Winning Score- -42 My best guess for Cut line- -16

Looking forward to this one. I haven't played it yet but I loved Ave Of The Giants. Not sure if I'll be teeing off tonight or tomorrow (depends if I get a better offer!), but I'll be sure to ramble on pointlessly when I do.
No guesses for my animal costume of choice, only problem will be getting down to read the putts.

Played some of my worst golf on tour...and it wasnt even that I was playing bad, bogey free first round, but I must have had 7 or 8 putts look like they went directly over the lip without falling. I had more tap ins for par from inside of one foot this round than in the past month combined.
Second round I was playing a little better until I think it was the 8th hole...par 3 with water on the right. Hadn't had a slow downswing all day, and get two of them back to back to put 2 in the water and take +4 on the hole. There was nothing slow about my swing, I dont think I've ever felt more personally attacked by a game before.
Week was over at that point, speed golf the rest of the way to sit at -6 at the cut. First demotion marks are coming my way.

2 weeks of crappy golf is hopefully behind me. This is a tough course IMO and I felt like I had to battle for everything. Not necessarily a bad thing though. I am going out on a limb here and think the cut is going to be closer to the -11 or -12 range this week. I went -8, -7 so -15 I think is safe but I guess we will see.

Moien, please don't pay attention to me in first place on the early Monday morning leaderboard. It was my only very low round. I could save my second round score with 5 birdies on the last 5 holes (i think), but then my game collapsed a little. I became tired, and instead of just going to bed, I played faster. This is even dumber in light of the final of Riotous' matchplay event, I know. Yesterday evening, with my first weekly win in the pocket, I felt like 'whatever', but today I am ashamed. It even gets worse while I am writing this. -11, -7, -2, and -5 for a total score of -25. Good luck guys!

And all of a sudden, I am really happy again. I leave it up to you to figure out if I really was drowning in sorrow during my last post. Fellow hunters of the Golden Cow, please welcome Koop with a warm applause to our little competition! I will update the leaderboard with his past scores so that he has no significant disadvantage.

I was nervous heading into this one for two reasons, first is having two strikes next to my name and secondly knowing this is the sort of course where double bogey awaits wayward shots. It showed in the front nine, just three birdies, I was playing cautiously so no dropped shots. The back nine started with four birdies which took a bit of pressure off. I would have liked a couple more over the finishing holes but managed just one. No dropped shots though for a -8 first round.

Round two was even more nerve racking with tougher conditions and more at stake. Mistakes were creeping into my game but managed to reach the turn at three under. No birdie stark to start the back nine. A poorly judged approach on ten left me plugged in the bunker. I played a fantastic flop to put myself within four feet. I was so happy with myself that I did not pay attention to the putt and hammered it,bogey. Two quick birdies helped me recover but again the closing holes proved difficult and it was par all the way for -4. -12 for halfway and it might make the cut. The course is playing tough so who knows all though I get a sneaky feeling it might be just short, more importantly though it should be enough to avoid another strike.

Well that was a journey! Played my first round with a couple of turn based ghosts as I had a bit of time. Delighted to see my old TGC1 and 2 ghost rival CongoGB back on the Korn Ferry Tour, it was like the old days! Still all in black I see Gary This course is a battle. First round I got off to a decent start but struggled with the tempo which left me a lot of 20/30 foot putts, and I didn't make a lot. Reached the turn at -3 but then had a laggy VS backswing off the tee at 10. Made a great par save there but wasn't so lucky on 12 when another laggy swing off the tee hit the drink and I dropped a shot. Finally made a putt on 16, curling in a beautiful 30 footer, and promptly gave it straight back by 3 putting 17 from a decent position on the green. So I'm -2 on the 18th tee thinking I need to make something happen. I did, perfect tee shot, driver off the deck in to the middle of green and then this... Just what I needed! -4 not the score I wanted but it felt an awful lot better than -2! Played round 2 on my own because I remembered why I didn't like playing against Congo (great back 9 Gary ), and made a great start with 4 birds in the first 6. But then had a wobble, had the perfect club for the approach in to the par 5 7th but hit a slow and couldn't get up and down from the bunker. Another slow on 9 got wet again, but made a good bogey from 3 off the tee, and then pars on 10 and 11 and I'm still just -3 for the round and probably way off the pace. And then it turned again, beauty of a tee shot on the short par 4 12th gave me a kick in eagle. A couple of lip outs sandwiched a birdie on the slightly strange par 5 15th, and I'm on the 17th at -6 and -10 for the tournament. I know I need more, and again it happened for me. Holed a lovely 40 foot uphill putt on 17 for birdie, and holed a rare chip in on 18 after getting in all sorts of trouble off the tee for another one. After all that 68 and 64 for -12 at the cut. Like Dan, I have a feeling that might have half a chance. I don't like 15, but apart from that really enjoyed the battle the course provided. I'm knackered after that!

I fully think -12 makes it this week and R3 scores so far are rough!!!! Finished up tonight with a -3 in R3 and then it came together in R4 with a -10 and a -28 overall which I’m happy with.
Good luck everyone! I sure hope everyone manages the 90 foot uphill 16th better than I did!

Good luck everyone! I sure hope everyone manages the 90 foot uphill 16th better than I did! Hmmm, not sure about that, I wish I had another one. Likely to be sweating the cutline at the very best. I think my second round is competitive but the first has got me a bit too far behind the field. I presume you're talking about the uphill par 5 15th which I also referenced. I have no problem with the concept of a very long uphill par 5, I just didn't like the fairway that led up to the green. If you try and take some distance out and hit it up there it just rolls back down to the bottom anyway, so it's a bit pointless. I did enjoy the course as a whole though, certainly feel like I had to earn every one of those 12 shots! Just have to wait and see if it's enough for two more...
