When they had the 2019 Masters on Sunday they had Tiger commenting here and there. Which I thought was very cool. Wish they would do that more with the Pros.
At one point he was asked how many hole in ones he had. I was surprised on his answer. He said 20. I figured he was going to say 50 or something. What was also very interesting was he said he never got one during his peak playing time when he was on a tear. That is amazing to me. Shows how hard it is to get one.
I am luckily enough to have one. May 25th 2002 at my home course. 150 yards with a 8 iron. happen to be with 2 of my best friends from High School. I shot a 38 or 39 on the front and like a 50 on the back. Let's say the beer was flowing. That was a expensive day. But worth every penny.
I have got see about 5 of them in my life as well.
Anyone else have one or seen one?

I watched that too with Tiger on webcam going through his final round. I love listening to his more detailed explanations of how he goes about playing the game. I remember the moment specifically when he talked about his 20 hole in ones. 19 before 2000 and only 1 since. I have not hit one but have a couple eagle hole outs from over 100 yds. The closest I've come to a hole in one was the day before I got married. Our reception was at TPC Twin Cities so I got to take a group out as part of our wedding package. First par 3 of the round and I rattled the pin... what a moment that would have been. I saw one as a kid during the practice round of the PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Don't remember who it was that hit it. My father in law has 3 and he reminds of it whenever we go out haha

Never had one myself, longest hole out I had was about 150 yards on a 340 yard par 4 (don't ask about the drive). Witnessed 2. 1 was my old golf coach, scratch golfer, super fun to watch, kind of player that could shape a shot at will. So that was no surprise. There was some high fiving and handshakes. The second one I saw was by a good friend of mine that's a hack. That one was A SHOCKER. The ball never went higher than 20 feet off the ground, landed about 50 yards short and hopped around then hit the green and rolled like someone just made a perfect putt. I think everyone in town new he got a HIO. There was hooting and hollering. He was riding the club around. Then he pulled the pin and road that around. We carried him around like he just sank the putt to win us the Ryder Cup. I was probably happier for him than I would be if I got one myself.

I've had one, at the second at my home course where it spun back into the hole. I didn't have to buy a drink either... as I was only 15 so couldn't.
I've also witnessed the luckiest, in a junior match at Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club. On their 14th, one of the home players thinned a 3 iron which barely cleared the 13th green that you play over, it bounced a second time before the bunker in front of the green, hopped over it, ran all the way up the green to the hole at the top/back and dropped in.
I've also witnessed a player shitting himself he was about to get one. We were playing Vice Captain's Away Day at The Shropshire and I think it was the 8th hole on their Blue nine (they have three nines). It's a (not severe) drop hole, the guy's tee shot was going straight at it. It bounced twice, lipped out and finished on the edge of the hole behind the pin. He was shitting it because there was 40 of us playing plus any others on the course, so was going to be very expensive had it dropped!

So does this constitute a hole in one? It is now called Archie's Golf Club but a Par 3 course. Had my son Zack with me and he was 7 so like 9 years ago. 1st hole was 87 yards 1st time out that year in April and this was his 2nd year golfing. Played more of a pitch shot to the hole as this short hole's green breaks right to left. Landed on the ridge on the right and rolled down the slope and right in. I let out a big yell looked around but nobody was around as we always got out at like 7AM. As we got towards the hole and he was on the green himself going for birdie like 30-35 feet away he looks at and me and say "Are you going to get your ball so I can putt?" I fell in love with golf when I was 16 years old. Up until then I was a devoted hockey player and never really thought much about golf. My oldest brother was an amazing player back then and invited me to come play with him and 2 of his friends. I had no clue what I was doing. The first hole was a par 3 and my brother said to use a 5 iron. I took his advice and approached the tee box. No clue on how high to set the tee. I went last and hit the ball squarely but since they did say to keep my head down, I never got to see where the ball went. Apparently neither did they because we got to the green and looked all over for my ball. My brother said to drop a ball just off the green and take the shot. I did so and knocked the ball clean over the green. As I was walking by the flag I looked in the cup and lo and behold, there was my ball that I hit off the tee.
Now before you naysayers come out of the woodwork...I finished the round 30 over par. I did not break par for almost 2 years but played at every opportunity I got. Since then I have gotten 4 more aces but that's over 50 years.

Never a HIO for me but like others i have had 2 Eagles on a par 4 from over 120 yds - worst thing is both were to elevated greens and i never saw them go in, just the flag stick move.

I was before cell phones and such and I didnt think to carry around the VHS camcorder...LOL I could picture the video. Terry fumbling with the camera trying to see if it's actually on. His head comes into view. He looks puzzled. Then there's a 5 minute shaky video of the ground with some redneck grumbling in the background. Terry realizes it was on the whole time. There's some choice words. He props it up on the cart and you get a clear view of the tee box. You see 2 guys walking away in the side of the frame. Then the ground comes into view as it slides off the cart. A couple seconds of darkness and some more choice words. Camera shakes around some more until it comes to rest with a perfect view of the tee box. 2 guys walk away again. One on the edge of the screen, the other directly to the tee. Then there's some preshot routine going on. Terry's dad addresses the ball. Then goes blurry because Terry stepped into the frame and the auto focus adjusts to him. Then clear as day you can see Terry watching a blurry silhouette take a backswing. Then the battery dies.

ROFL that is EXACTLY how it would have happened...
Funny story..
I was playing in some bushes (TWSS) as a child, you know building a fort... Well I got bit by a snake, my dad started questioning me and me being scared to death this is how it went exactly
1. Son was it a snake : I DONT KNOW 2. Son what did it look like: I DONT KNOW 3. Son was it a spider: I DONT KNOW 4. Son was it a dog : I DONT KNOW 5. Son was it a cat: I DONT KNOW (At this point I could sense the anger and frustration so I panicked) 6. Finally he yells : Was it a GD PURPLE HIPPOPOTAMUS: Me scream crying at this point : YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS
100% true, and a hospital visit later, it was just a black snake no harm no foul.. lmao

I golfed alot of years when I was younger and played many many many rounds with my dad. Neither of us had gotten or seen a hole in one but within the span of a week my dad had witnessed two of them. He saw a good friend of ours on a short par 3 about 150yds I think. The first hole in one he saw though happened to be mine at the course we used to call our home course. There's a 308yd par 4 that is easily driveable for long hitters. We went out for a quick nine one night and I step up and hit my tee shot. Right away the sun hit my eyes so I had no idea where it was going but I knew it felt good. My dad said it was going right down the middle heading for the centre of the green. He tees off and we start walking to go hit our second shots. Getting closer and closer to the green and I still wasn't seeing my ball. My dad said it had to be either in the hole or over the green. Myself I was starting to think he was messing with me and it had gone OB to the left but I kept walking. Expecting it to be over the green as I'm walking past the hole I look inside and there's my ball.
I can confidently say I don't think anybody else has ever got a hole in one on that hole before or since then.
