There will be a registration thread and you'll need to post there once registration is open.
Schedule currently says Sept 1, but I want to move that forward so designers have more than two months to complete their work.
Keep an eye on this space.

ErixonStoneI have published one course so far and received some good feed back. I learned a lot from that process, and have been working on a second course. I would like to publish that course soon so I can get some more feedback. If I publish a second course before the Rookie Contest will I become ineligible to enter the Rookie Contest? Do I have to publish it as "Under Construction" or can it be a "Completed Course?" I am trying to learn as much as possible, but don't want to make myself ineligible in the process. - Thanks,

bmckenzie69 This is the eligibility criteria for 2020, all based on the time of registration. If you meet these criteria at the time you register, then you're OK. What are the entry restrictions? This contest is open to any designer who meets the following criteria: - Has not designed a course that has hosted any TGCTours event in any season (including ones using earlier editions of The Golf Club)
- Has not designed more than two courses that have been accepted into the TGCTours Course Database
- Has not participated any Course Design Contest administered through the TGCTours forum website (including unofficial contests)
- Did not participate in the HB Rookie Design Contest from 2016

UPDATE: The 2020 TGCTours Rookie Design Challenge has been pushed back. This is in response to HB Studios and 2K announcing that PGA TOUR 2K21 will be released on August 21, 2020.
The new registration date is the old registration date, Sept 1, 2020.
Entrants will have to publish their entry in the new game, PGA TOUR 2K21.
Sorry to any design hopefuls who were waiting anxiously for Juiy 1, but it doesn't make sense to waste up to 4 months' work on an outdated game. I want your courses to get the recognition that goes along with participating in a TGCT design contest.

Would the TGCT design league count as a competition entry? I’m currently working on my first submission for that but don’t want to lose my eligibility for this comp. Thanks

Thanks Yes, as that contest is being judged and administered through the TGCT forums. I would encourage you to do that one if it seems fun. Why wait?

I guess I feel like I might be able to make more of a splash by being competitive in the rookie comp and the TGCTDL is not an 18 hole comp but just a series of smaller projects. I only have one publish so far and was told by lessthanbread when he reviewed it that it might crack the top five so was kind of looking forward to competing in the rookie comp. Which do you feel would be the better option?

I can't tell you what you "should" do, but there will almost always be a contest to join. For example, I believe the Dream Team contest is also being pushed back because of the release of the game, so that one might run in parallel with the Rookie contest.

I have my first course to a place where I could publish it before 2k21 comes out. If I publish the final now but don't submit it to TGCT, can I then submit it into the rookie contest once it's ready for the 2k21 designer?
