Do you go for the hole, or do you think ahead to the putt on tough greens and only go for the hole on the more tame ones.
I tend to go for the hole every time but seen to find myself above the hole a lot. Thinking of changing my tactic

Doesn't matter when the swing does what it wants anyway... game sucks.

zorbacles I'm far from an expert, but for me, it depends. Long approaches with tucked pins, I tend to look for a route that will land safely and feed toward the pin. If no such thing exists, I try to find a safe spot for a 2 putt par, with an outside shot at a long birdie. If there are backstops or other slopes that feed toward the hole, I want to err on the side of the friendly slope. Conversely if there are falloffs, false fronts, anything like that, I want to err away from those. I don't have the control that those PGA guys to do hit it wherever I want whenever I want, so I have to plan for my misses, just like in real life. Shorter approaches with no trouble, I typically go at the flag. There's also the aspect of distance and rollout, though. When I say go at the flag, I'm not saying hit the exact distance to the flag, because you will end up above the hole every time. Shorter irons and wedges won't have much rollout, especially off of uphill lies and headwinds, but longer irons can get away from you. If you have a flat lie with a relatively flat green and the distance to the flag is exactly 4I, you can't hit 4I, you need less club. If greens are very firm and very fast, you may need 2 less clubs. Lots of variables in play. When you play practice rounds, don't be afraid to take unplayable lies and replay shots trying different things. Try to add loft to a longer club, deloft a shorter club, shape the shot, etc. It can be a valuable learning tool. Hope this helps!

Since I never hit what I'm aiming at in this game,I aim for the fat part of the green and close my eyes.

I will often aim a few feet to the side of the hole away from trouble if there is a red slope or hazard or something. On courses I know, I may play for the easz putt on a few holes where I have learned that it makes a big difference. Like I always try to be left and under the hole on 10 at Augusta, but I am just not interested in putting the time into scouting courses on the regular so it doesn't help on most of the courses. For me, trying to read where is the easy putt from the scout cam has often caused me to play to spots where the putt isn't as easy as I thought it would be. also ball landing above the hole should feed closer, and downhill putts are not as likely to lead to 3 putt in this game as they are in real life.
So I am going at the hole like 85% of the time or more except to avoid trouble or in rare cases that I know a course really well

Yeh I think that is my issue.
I will shoot for the pin almost every time regardless.
Probably the reason why I get myself demoted to d in 2 weeks.
Time to play smarter and not try be the hero

calm down pal, there are plenty of people who have issues with the swing so it’s relevant. Besides why would u shoot at the pin when you have green slope and firmness as well as wind to consider. Pretty strange question to be honest.

Pretty strange question to be honest. Most people would know what I mean and they did. Aiming for the hole means that your posting the shot to get the ball in, do that is taking in to account the slope wind and everything to get it in. I didn't literally mean put the circle on the pin and hope for the best. I would have thought that is pretty obvious. And your comment of it doesn't matter where you aim because the game will do what it wants is literally no help or even relevant to the question asked. Nor does saying the game sucks If you weren't sure what I meant you could have asked for clarification.

Sorry for ruining your forum thread.

zorbaclesAndrew I try to leave myself an uphill putt if possible, so I aim and club myself accordingly.
