Slate is clean after getting my Major Design Course ready, looking forward to getting some work done on the project.
Not planning on doing a links course for this project. I have a few ideas that I'm brainstorming at the moment. I will be taking some inspiration from UK Parkland courses Close House & Forest of Arden

5 holes laid down - opening up with my traditional Par 4, 3 & 4 over the first 3 holes.
The first is going to be a fair test to start with. Narrow landing area calls on the player to decide whether they're going to start their round on the offensive or sit back, play safe and try pull off some creative shots to score well. The second shot plays around the corner to an elevated green with bunkers surrounding the green.
The second tee lies behind the first green and plays, as a par 3, slightly downhill to a two tier green with bunker long and a steep bank to the front to catch any shots coming short.
The par 4 3rd continues down the hill with a long mid - long par 4 that gives players multiple landing zones off the tee that may catch some errant tee shots. Your second shot plays to a wide green with a small pond short and left, a bunker short and long and a slightly undulated green that will still require a solid touch with the flat stick
The 4th is a par 5 that plays back up the hill towards the 1st green. A fairly straight forward tee shot to a wide fairway with a few small bunkers hanging down the left. From there the fairway gets narrow and veers to the right as you are presented with a shot across a mixture of rockery and bunkers to an elevated green. The green itself is friendly and offers all good approaches a decent shot at eagle 🦅
Heading back down the hill is the short par 4 5th called minefield. At 350 yards, - 50feet elevation, it offers a great chance of hitting the green in one with favourable conditions, however their isn't much room for error and penalties lie everywhere with bunkers strategically placed to catch you out.

Managed to get a good bit of free time today and threw down the layout of my entire course. Never had ideas come that easy, that doesn't mean they're good but it's going to be fun bringing this course together. Currently we are looking at a little short of 7600 yards which is pretty long, however majority of the long par 4's are playing downhill. There is a bunch of reachable par 5's and very short par 4's but will have to test it out with pro clubs as things progress. I'm currently looking at a 4 tee system but may just take it back to 3 if I need to trim out some yardage.  |

A few observations is that the greens themselves are quite large but in looking forward to seeing what I can do with them that will challenge players but still make it rewarding and fun to play.
The back 9 will most likely offer a greater challenge with a number of holes including a water hazard bar just the one hole on the front 9. I'm looking at possibly introducing a small pond into the par 5 4th, but not 100% on that just yet.
There are a number of courses that I'm pulling some inspiration from on the back 9. While sticking with the Close House / Forest of Arden look, the par 4 10th was inspired by the 9th fairway at Lahinch, the par 5 12th hole takes some inspiration from the 16th at the K Club and the 16th hole somewhat takes inspiration from a course just north of Coeur D'Alene I think is called Blackrock, not 100%.

Been working on sculpting the course, getting everything ready for planting phase. Decided to do some tester planting along the front 9 just to get a rough idea if the visuals are good and pretty happy so far.
