Welcome to The Conservatory Club (West Course)
Designed as the younger, meaner brother to The Conservatory Club (originally designed by jwfickett ), the West Course is designed for championships, and is my entry into the 2020 Major Championship Design Contest.
I want to thank all of the TGCTours staff, the judges, and the competitors in the contest for another great year and opportunity to design. I sadly have to announce my retirement from design for TGC2019 with this course. I've put everything I had into this one in the hope that you will find it enjoyable and a formidable challenge.
The West Course has 2 different versions -
The Members Version - called Conservatory Club (West)
Designed with 3 sets of tees, and suitable for tournament golf on the CC-Pro and Korn Ferry tours, the back tees stretch to a total of 7,115 yards and a par of 72.
The Major Version - called Conservatory West (Major)
WARNING - I'M NOT KIDDING HERE
The Conservatory West (Major) layout is an extremely difficult golf course that will challenge even the best players in the TGC world. Please play the Member's Version, and then decide if you're willing to take on this challenge. Master Clubs Only.
The ultimate test of ball striking - 7,800+ yards of tight, cambered fairways, tounged-greens and tucked pins.
Missing fairways will almost always take birdie out of play. Play away from the pin, and get your putter hot to try and break par on this par-70 design.
MAJOR ROUND CONDITIONS
Round 1 - Wind North - High Round 2 - Wind Northwest - High Round 3 - Wind North - High Round 4 - Wind Northwest - High
Happy golfing, and good luck!

Absolute master class in design ... always been a fan of your courses even with all the D punchiness but the style of this course is my style course and the type I come back too often to try and tame the beast
I’m a decent player but have gotten only to -1 on this monster and I love it
Great work and you’ve come to defend your title with this one
Good luck in the contest and keep building these dog tracks and I’ll keep playing em cussing young and smiling the entire round ha ha

Ill definitely play this course again and share with friends. Its not an easy one which keeps you engaged. Lie angles, green undulations, wind, teeny landing zones. Nothing relaxing about this round. Finished +5 with two missed putts under 3 ft. Thought I could power through the break. Spolier alert: You cant.

Kind of new to TGC here and thanks to all of you designers putting out these amazing courses. Awesome to check everyday and find new courses. This one is especially great, love it. I like it when neighborhoods are well done like this. Plays amazing too. Only question I have is why not include things like cars, trashcans, power lines, light posts etc. into the neighborhoods. Are they left out for frame rate issues? Two reasons -
1.) You're exactly right, I work on a mid-range laptop and even with the houses as they are now, it was getting to that territory where we may have framerate issues, especially with having crowds and tournament objects, like the final tournament will be.
2.) I didn't want to only put those objects in some areas, and not put them in all because of the limited object resource bar, so decided to keep it uniform throughout.
Great to have you in the community! Please enjoy - lots of great people here.

Gonna have to give this a bash (the members version, not the crazy long major version) as I’ve loved the conservatory club ever since TGC1 days.

Great course! I took your advice and played the members version. Great integration of the neighborhood. I also like that you can be punished by ripping a driver on every hole. I will try out the major version next!

Well I didn't take the advice and played the major course and now wish I had taken that advice! What a great major course....it will have people swearing and snapping clubs over knees left, right and centre....exactly how it should be. Very special indeed except for the below score! Let's just say it pulled my pants down and gave me one big kick up my arse! That's the 1st round of 18 holes on this game that I have never made a birdie so well done mate, masterstroke in my eyes.

Gonna have to give this a bash (the members version, not the crazy long major version) as I’ve loved the conservatory club ever since TGC1 days. Well I gave it a go from the whites in TST settings. As always, when I try a course out, I set it to US Open settings (Very Firm & Very Fast) with moderate wind going in each compass direction each round (N, E, S, W). Course looks beautiful but not a huge fan of the greens as they felt a little tricked up. I can’t see why anyone would like to make the course longer going into some of those greens but each to their own. I did play it in US Open conditions though so I’m being a tad harsh with that critique. Will try again in moderate members conditions. Scored (E) thru 4 rounds and to compare I also scored E at Chambers Bay under the same conditions and -4 at Erin Hills. Here are my 4 rounds:

Managed a -5 on the Major course. The original Conservatory Club has long been my all-time favorite course in this game with Susquehannock close behind, so I was extremely excited for this to be published.
WOW, what a phenomenal course! Not a weak hole to be found. Truly an incredible effort here (the par 3s in particular are brutal but just fantastic). The Major version has certainly taken over the #1 spot on my all-time favorites list, and I will be pulling for it hard in the design contest as I would love to see it in the US Open. Seriously, you should be very proud of this amazing course! So glad that this has lived up to and surpassed my expectations, and job VERY well done!

Played in members conditions (everything moderate) to a tune of 72/67/64/70 (-15). Was a joy to play. Will give the greens another go in US Open conditions tomorrow.

Not surprised at all with how this course came out. Played the 4th round pin placement in tournament settings on the Major course. Was -2 thru 15, finished at +3. Was glad to donate two balls on 16. Extremely well done, Dario.

Top notch stuff here. You've really nailed this look. And the playability is as d!ckpunchy as expected. Really love the way you force players to make a 20+ ft putt often. And punish the unwise that think they can get within 10' on every hole. Very very well done. I'll be back for more.
Note: I mentioned, in your WIP thread, that I couldn't wait to play #8... I'm pretty over it now.
