60-65-64-65 - 34 under total
Enjoyed the course from the first time i played it but it's a no from me on the setup too. Very High & Very Firm should just be confined to the dustbin unless we're playing links style courses.
Anyway, i putted like a d**k from 6-10 feet throughout, inc putting it off the green on 12 in R2. Swing was generally better. Nice playing rob4590 - think you'll be higher than you realise

I might actually have put together a decent* tournament here - shot a lovely -14 in R3, despite a water ball (14th?) when my second shot gave me a 90% swing instead of the intended fast. Followed that with a very solid -8 R4, despite a few 'borderline' pins / pin positions (13 and 14 are a pair of stunners if you miss on the safe side......) -41 total - very happy with that. *Decent - for a medium player of course.....not actually a decent result Despite my comment above re a couple of pins, I did enjoy the course, and the scary moments in those two VH wind rounds. Good job theduke21 in both capacities this week That's very good playing Rob, agree with Jack that I think it'll finish better than you think. Definitely didn't want 11 to play as long as it did, just one of those things where the wind was rotated heavy in the face more so than it was in testing. But it's just a par 5 basically so a 4 will play like a birdie on Friday. 13 and 14 are tough for sure as I was in the bunker on 14 dealing with that slope toward the bottom of the green, barely managed to stay up and make par. 13 I managed to pitch it below the hole, but man that was a scary pitch lol.

Playing this a few times and getting a feel for it, there isn't much wrong with the course at all. You really need to have a good feel for course management as there are definitely better places to be in the fairway than others. Some of the hole placements, are just over a big red hump but that is fine because there is a good mix throughout.
Sadly I have to agree on the conditions. Very High winds tend to work much better on links style courses with wide fairways/greens, even with all of the wind's inconsistencies. We have played this game enough to know that 187 greens don't roll true and Very High winds are just as inconsistent.
At least we won't be having -60s this week.

-11 and -6 gets me *shrug* ?!?! Maybe a cut, maybe not... leaning not. As per usual, my putter is to blame if I miss the cut by one or two.
Liked the course and the setup. Particularly liked that we used the 177 (designer specified) green speeds in both rounds.
Obvious as to why it was picked as a lead up to next week.
Good luck to all yet to play or with rounds yet to complete.

10 and 11 are dicey on Friday with the yardage in, the direction was more in the face than when I tested it, which can happen in tournaments. But par is just a number. 10 is still reachable with a wood. 11 is close but I comfortably made it with driver-driver. I actually missed short on 10 and just made it to the very front on 11.

I haven’t played the rounds yet but practiced a bunch trying to find an ideal bag selection. I have a love-hate relationship so far with the course. Love the design but hate playing it! Seriously, it should be a fun challenge.

Well after a water ball on the third hole, that White Russian began to settle me down (no not the kind Vitaly has access to). I got about 50 holes in before the baby began to cry. Fed her. Came back an hour later to finish R4 and the bad breaks began to creep back in.
Too many long par4s into heavy wind ruined the authenticity of an otherwise nice course.
When it takes 2 FF drivers to reach a par4, what are we doin here?!

Since you are, do you not use the 2 wood at all in your bag?

Well... That was a tale of 2 vastly different rounds. Can't storming out of the gate with a -14 in the first round. Making a few putts which I thought I would miss. The 2nd round, the course said "payback's a b***h". There had to be at least 7-8 birdie putts which curled just in front of the hole missing it by inches. Ended with -2. 🤬🤬 -16 and cut watching..... Again!!

Got off to a very slow start in R1 and, making after a number of basic misjudgements on the way, could only card a -8, despite hitting the ball pretty well.
Staring a missed cut in the face, I got the feel for the wind early doors and posted a -11 R2.
Excellent track. Think I've probably done enough to be around for the weekend thankfully.

Love the course but again the VH winds are ridiculous. Its impossible to predict what will happen to your ball and there is no consistency. I don't see the need for it when high winds are challenging enough. Anyway, a -14 and a -6 will see me into the weekend.

Looks like we've lost a couple... Maybe blown off course with the high winds?
Keep your eyes peeled in case they show up again lads.
