I was futzing around a bit with highlands theme and like the sunken planting heavy rough texture a lot...but I'm clueless as to why in most spots the sunken texture works nicely but not everywhere. Anyone know how it works and why it works this way?
EDIT: Scratch this; went back to the Delta backup a couple hours later and I'm going to stick with that. Delta has the opposite problem with heavy rough where it's easy to make it 'too strong' for my vision, but I have a couple tricks in mind for that.

I believe it has to do with elevation. When you add hills you'll see the base terrain changes colors in areas to make it more realistic. Super steep banks will have a rocky texture to it, more subtle hills will have a slightly worn out look to parts, and flat areas will have a more solid texture color. From what i've seen, these areas all react differently to the buried tree trick. Try messing with that a bit.

Hmm, will do. I did a little bit but not a ton a couple hours ago and was a bit underwhelmed by how it reacted, but I'm still kinda digging the heavy rough texture for it as a whole. I'll try exaggerating it more, or at least having that be somewhere that can be mostly covered with planting to offset and get the desired look.
