I'm looking for some opinions/advice. The issue is related to the area behind the 17th green here. IRL it is some type of monkey/mondo grass, but there is really nothing close to that in the designer. Any opinions on which one looks better from pics below? I know it's a little hard to see. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know, mate..maybe, looking from some distance, the first solution looks a bit better, but when you go near to the green, maybe the second looks a bit better, it fits more naturally i mean, with all the rest. But i'm not so sure to be the best person to give you a good advice about planting. I'm sure someone more experienced than me could be more helpful. Anyway..this course will be simply fantastic. Every single pic i saw is just beautiful. This will be a masterpiece, mate. (do you know? after i losed my job cause the quarantine, by yesterday i'm at my "old" home again, in Catania..at least i think now i'll have the time i was looking for to complete my course and update the list of real course..and to restart to play the tour, i hope And, looking for some practice, just some minute ago i played your Colonial. Now that i tried the designer editor, i can appreciate much more some of the solutions you used on that course. Hole 16 and all the clubhouse's zone is a beauty. )

It looks a cracking hole.
From the tee perspective I would go with the bottom picture. It might be different up close though.

Could you give us a view of it from say the front edge of the green? (ie a putt from short) Let's us see which may be better at that point too?
From the tee view, I prefer the first option.

Jeff from the tee I like the second one better, although I don't know if it is "true to life" I wonder if the Bullrush grass type would give you what you want, even though it would not be there IRL?

Thanks for the input guys. I think you've hit on my dilemma. From the tee the bottom picture is closest to what I'm looking for but as you get near the green it doesn't capture the look nearly as well. There are 2 holes that have this type of grass in prominent places so I want it to look right. I'm going to redo this hole with the top option and leave the other hole with the bottom option. I'll post pics of both later on from the tee and the green and see what you guys think then. Thank you to all.

Are you intending to do the back of 17 the same way as 4? ie with the green plants covering the 'dirt'? If so - I'd go with that.

Yes Robin, both holes have the same type of planting IRL.

I there anyway you can make it look like the plants are not in rows Jeff (unless they are IRL)? Vary the sizes and location a little?

Think this is the best look of it so far. Repeat what you did on 4 below

Thanks for the help guys. I take the response as suggesting the green plants look better than the grass. I saw that picture too Wes. The interesting thing about the different pics of these holes that I've found shows them in different stages of growth/overgrowth. Some of them look like they're almost planted in rows some don't. I guess I'll just have to play with it some more. I'm going to work on 17 for now and repost some pics to see what you guys think.
