I play on one of the challenge circuit tours (PC). I just shot a -42 over all four rounds. I personally thought that was a really good score, considering the wind and length of the track.
Of course, turns out that's only good for 30th(!) place. The top scores are like -58, -55, etc. What the heck? How is anybody expected to compete when you have to shoot -13/-14 every single round of a tournament to have a chance in the top ten?
It's been like this my entire time on this tour, and I'm really starting to get frustrated. There seems to be something very unfair going on. Also it seems like PS4 has a significant advantage when it comes to scoring.

I think they compete by shooting -13 or -14 every round

So honest question, is your complaint with the scores as a whole or is it that you're not competing to win?
The first point, it's a video game and much easier to master than real golf. Players are just going to figure it out and be able to out up lower scores than real life. The obvious way to drop scores would be to play a much harder course, but that would drop everyone's scores proportionally, yours included, so you're still 30th in this scenario. And tougher courses that drop scores often do so in ways that feel unfair and much more frustrating to the player. I believe the intention in course selection is to put something out there that is fun to play and a reasonable challenge for the tour level, not the intention of busting scores down.
But if your complaint is that 30th feels the best you can do, lower scores doesnt change that. You're playing the same game as everyone else, the tiers are designed to try to put similar skill levels together but there will always be players that have a good week. One time it may be you, but overall your ability to compete on any tier has nothing to do with the course or the scores, it only has to do with how you compare to the other people playing the exact same scenario you are. The only way to fix this is to practice and improve your own game.

Don’t look at ps4 scores. Tough to do, but necessary. The current system is flawed.
I play KF on xb1 and struggle to block out other scores as well. Just to give you an idea, on the PGA right now, out of 140+ players, around 10 are xb1. I have to curb my expectations of bumping up to European and PGA. It’s tough to do when being such a competitive person and wanting to improve. Unfortunately this is the way the majority of players wanted it. Try to enjoy the courses and make it a goal to make the cut and stay in your current tour. That’s what my goals have been. Just some thoughts.

Another suggestion is getting more into society play with other pc players. Make that the majority of your play and make the tour secondary. Maybe you already do this, but this is what I have started doing with Xbox buddies and it has changed my perspective.

it's like everything in life...some people are good, some are great, and some are just awesome. Video games are no different. You have average players, good players, and great players. There's no magic formula. This literally goes for EVERY video game. Just play the courses and enjoy them. Enjoy winning the "fake" money I haven't won on the PGA since TGC1...I still love the game, the tour and the community. Don't make it about winning. Set goals for things you haven't done yet...aim for a money amount earned for the year, placing in the top 25, getting promoted, etc. I think you may enjoy it more

Until video game golf can replicate the difficulty of real golf, you are going to get scores in the -50s over four rounds.
I've played real golf my whole life. I'm a decent club player, my handicap is 5.6. I can count on one hand the number of rounds I've shot under par (gross score).
I've played video golf my whole life. I'm an average player compared to everyone else. I can count (probably) on all my household's hands (that's six) the number of rounds I've shot over par.
There's your perspective on why scores are so low. Video game golf is so much easier.

A realistic golf game wouldn’t sell

Just keep shooting the best you can.. I had a couple of weeks in CC-Am - one week shot -28 for about a 28th position, the next week, shot -27 and was like 115.
Also, keep in mind that the tours are setup to get 'like' competition together - so I've seen some people complain that they can't get to the top 10 to get a promo mark - AND- they are not bad enough to get a demo mark - this actually means that you're probably on the tour you're supposed to be on.
IF you're scoring enough to get the promo mark - eventually will turn into average in the field as you move up the tour tiers.
So, as others have mentioned in the past - pick a few people within your tour that you seem to always finish with around the same number and make a small competition between those people - you'll have more fun and it actually helps to not look at the upper level of players - but focused more on those finishing around you..
Good luck !!
