I’m less interested these days in wowing and more about creating well integrated routings and varied use of the property. What I get a kick out of the most though are all the nerds who come out to play and comment on the course. So cool to see all these talented and knowledgeable guys give their opinions on the course. I’ve got to get back to playing and return the favour. ^^ This! I said basically this in the DAM group chat and on Wes’ stream after playing. The way I put is, “It’s a course designed by a golf architecture nerd for golf architecture nerds.” I found the the course to be very immersive and it was all the subtleties that kept me smiling — use of angles, clever routing along the stream, the overwhelming sense of realism. I’d put the stretch from 13-15 up there with some of the best stretches of golf in the game. 16 felt a bit out of character from the rest of the course in terms of style, but it oozed with strategic & heroic traits ... and the tee shot definitely had a high degree of pucker power. Is it my favorite course of yours? That’d be like asking me to choose between pizza, fried chicken or barbecue. They’re all great, but in different ways. That said, I appreciate that you stayed true to your vision for this course and you executed that vision to near perfection. Thanks Jeremy. There’s a group of guys in the this community whose opinions matter most to me. Guys that look beyond the frills and see the deeper ideas embedded in the course. This course is one that, to some, might just look like a crappy muni. Parallel holes with little definition. The sculpting appears minimal. No swooping beautifully contoured fairways or elaborate green complexes. There is minimal “artistry” in the bunker design and the planting is restrained. Yet there is something codified within that language that these guys pick up on and appreciate. Even if the course doesn’t get 5000 plays it’s great that there are some guys who get it.

I'm with mayo. It's a course for the few...and I'm ok with that (I design for the few more and more I think). 16 is fine...just didn't quite fit after that stretch of awesome. However...sometimes having a hole that smacks you in the head can really screw with a player and that's never a bad thing yeah? Yeah. It’s a hole that gets talked about. And that’s a good thing. Always good to elicit emotion good or bad. Ie: the road hole That being said I think I might tweak the tee angle to open up the snaking fairway to the left to make it a more appealing option as currently most guys will bomb out way right over the creek even if the angle into the green is no good.

Had to give this one a go after seeing the comments and knowing New Highland Dunes is one of my favorites. Brilliant is the word I could find to describe this course. This is a pure golf course people, nothing more, nothing less. Love the way the fairways are angled from the tee boxes and every slope on the greens has a purpose. Was inches away from going Albatross-Ace on 3 and 4 and of course had a strong tail wind for #8 and put it in the front right bunker. Just awesome play throughout.

Really loved this one Rob. It felt like a well done lidar RCR. When I was playing it, I was trying to figure out what exactly it was about the course that felt so natural. I'm still not sure, but every fairway and green just sat into the terrain perfectly.

Total breath of fresh air. A look and style of course I don't believe I've seen in the game before.
The texturing on the mounds is brilliant, the grouping of the trees and the under planting is exceptional, very natural looking and frames the views perfectly.
The course itself is an absolute delight to play, top marks all round.

Yet another GREAT course from one of my top 3 designers in this game. Absolutely loved the realism on this design, and the holes with the creek running through them are packed with options off the tee and choices to make with the approach. The dried grass on the knolls and the intentional lean planting style on this course that looks like it could be in Anywhere, USA was phenomenal. Thanks for another design that I'll play over and over rjwils30!

I am a sucker for the frills and eye candy style courses but always a fan of your work... When you can virtually stand on say the 6th tee on this course and say to yourself Good lord, this looks absolutely real... The natural flow of the terrain, the natural and believable planting the course just screams realism to me... Definite Oakmont vibe and feel for me and dang its so good
This colors (even though I am color blind) just fit my eye so well... Absolutely gorgeous creation that feels/felt like a real course
I agree with Eric, Rob is on the top rungs of the proverbial GREAT designer category... Man this course is brilliant
Great work sir

Some courses give you the feeling of playing a game and then there's the few but rare courses that give you the feeling of playing golf. This is one of those rare gems. This completely. Absolutely class course, and I'd have to imagine I'll be contacting you soon about a potential Tour version if you're interested.

Also to double down on the overall sculpting:
When you play Oakmont on this game or other games (shoutout to CLV) the sculpting of the entire plot is stunning. It's hard to say why, there's not much terrain, mostly flat, but the course just blends together perfectly with the subtle rolls and changes of the holes in the background. It's an unbelievable course and I'm so happy all the trees are gone to let you see it.
I've tried to get that look on plots before but I just couldn't. I think you've done a great job of doing that here.

It’s a course all about restraint for me. To find interest in subtlety I guess.
