I'm looking forward to a new challenge and having some fun in this contest! I'm getting the creative juices flowing and some really good ideas coming out into the designer
already. I have a routing I really like and my plot and location idea is all set too. The vibe I'm going for is kind of like this: think.... Cabot Cliffs+Tara Iti+Bandon Trails+Friars Head. I really feel like I can merge all of those ideals and feels together and produce something really cool and different. 

NextGen Golf Design is the name of my fictional golf course sign firm. I thought it would be a fun way to immerse myself in the in the game and the creative process. Not having done a contest before, I really wanted to take a different approach to things.

Making quicker progress on this than anticipated which is pretty nice. Everytime I load up the game though I end up changing the textures, weather, and lighting which I'm anticipating will be a constant theme moving forward. With that being said, my vision is coming together for the most part. Not sure how much planting I'll need to end up doing but I'm just focusing on getting the holes designed for now and making sure everything is cohesive.

Was able to do a decent amount of work last night but it was mostly tweaking some existing stuff. Did put together the bones of the par three 15th and par 4 16th but both will of course require more testing and tweaking. Here are a few more pictures. Still haven't had a good chance to stream but maybe one of these days.

Thanks but there's still a long way to go in the comp! I saw your WIP and it looks to be a good start. Stay true to your vision and focus on the playability and environment you're going for.

With only 2 or 3 holes left to tweak overall, I'm really happy with the rest of what I have. I've started the large scale and green shaping on the holes I'm happy with. Shaping greens is by far my favorite part of the process so I'm anxious to get moving in that direction. I've even done some planting too which isn't exactly my favorite part. I think there will be about 5 holes that'll need a good bit of planting but the rest won't require a whole lot. Just trying to keep it simple and focus on areas that will be seen most often. I'm on PS4 so I'll soon be at the stage of slowness so the less planting required, the better. 

A bit of planting on the exposed natural sand hill to the right of the first hole with a little more up the right side of the hole near the fairway bunkers:

I'm getting closer and closer to being done with planting, thank god! I knew I was taking on more than I wanted when I decided on the theme and plot location but I liked it so much so I knew I would just have to suck it up. I only have two more small dune areas to plant so I'm looking good. Running out of plant meter quickly though and since PS4 is awesome.... things are running quite slow. I did finally figure out and finalize the two par 3's that were giving me issues so that's a positive takeaway from yesterday too. All holes are now final and I can't wait to start shaping greens and doing the finishing work.

More planting work done today and with the meter almost full, I'm almost done with that stage. The environment and feel is really coming together which is exciting.

Getting into the playtesting stages now. I usually don't playtest very much so this is slightly new territory for me but I'm enjoying it so far. Shout out to Ben for showing me how to playtest under custom conditions outside of the designer haha Still not sure how I never knew about that, oh well!

I hope I don't get points nixed for not having a way to get to the clubhouse, never was my strong suit   Might have to come up with something creative to get around that...

This may end up being the last pic before publishing in June but we'll see. I really want to do a more detailed publish post with insight into the environment and ideas behind the holes and routing so I might save them for that.

Thanks man! I'm pumped to get this one published and see what ends up happening in the contest. First time around for me.

I have been watching a few of your streams (the vods) and I like the look that you have going too. It sounds like you have a lot of details and specifics going into your design so it's interesting to listen to and hear where you're head is at. Always had a soft spot for Pasatiempo too. Good vibes going forward.
