I now know how Tiger felt at Riviera.
Btw these greens are a little “interesting” on mixed settings.

I’ve started well -3 under with a 6 on hole 17 hit a fast and that strong wind didn’t bring it back

Didn't play well in round #1, but got hot over the closing stretch to finish at -8. Thought a missed cut was coming so just rapid fired round #2 and carded a nice -15 to get back into cut watching. Looks like the winning score will again be in the 60's. Apologize to all you purists out there that would be the -60's. It will take a -37 weekend for me to get there, so I think I will stick with my original goal of Top 25 and trying to beat Mitch, Fadge, Gav, Booze, and anyone else that I can fit onto my list of players to watch.
-8 -15

Beginner's clubs for me until the new game. 😎😎 It's the most fun I've had in quite awhile. 😊😊 Reminds me of OG TGC. 😏😏 I still want to play, so I settled for this. 😎😎 Good luck all and see you next time! 😊😊 I think we will see some on the exodus to BCT in the coming weeks... In case anyone fancies giving Beginner clubs a try I created a society called Tough Beginner Club Tour on PS4 which uses 187 greens and VF for firmness. Par will be a good score on most holes. Starts tomorrow with Merion and then Elmview. Made a thread in the society section too where you can come and tell me I'm an idiot for doing such a thing or to let me know of any jacked up courses you might know for season 2. Susquehannock is scheduled for April 1st, although I did manage -2 there yesterday

So I played with my brand new controller this week.
Apparently still right on the edge from being pulled by API for straight swinging.
Honestly at a loss of what to do. I feel like I'm playing poorly because I'm worried about hitting it too straight, which is causing me to make bad swings with tempo usually.
Obviously not buying a third new controller which probably won't change anything.

I'm not sure if you've seen this already but there is a recent thread: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/22140/scores-accepted-cheaterI had a similar difficulty that I wanted to get to the bottom of. Some of us videoed our swing techniques to see if there was a reason behind the data and the discussion has pretty much led to how this game interprets some peoples swing as 'flick data'. Yours maybe completely different of course, but if you ever got time it is an interesting read and sure would be interesting to see your technique compared with the rest. Obviously this constant purchasing of new controllers cannot go on, they are not cheap as you well know. Probably best to talk further on this over on that thread to avoid being too off-topic here my apologies.

Just a standard push up with my thumb on the bottom side of the stick and I don’t let go of the stick. Pretty weird as I’ve been playing for 5 years here and never had a pull until recently. We were always told API would never pull human input but this is 3 controllers now that are similar. You’re right though, let’s stay on topic. Just wanted to let everyone know.

I can only speak for myself, but I care far more about your [future] course setups/conditions than whether you’re “on the edge”. After all, we have people winning tournaments with only 80 putts and not a single one was straight. 🤷🏼♂️

Those American DS4's must have pretty stiff sticks is all I can think.
My own has all the rigidity of a jellyfish.
Anyway R1 -13, swung it well but 3 lippers and a howler from 6 feet leave me somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Finished up despite the certain missed cut - think I finished -38 or 39
Final round kind of summed it up. Played 14/18 holes really well. But missed a 6 footer and bogied 7, duffed a bunker shot @ 11 and had a very slow DS into the drink @ 16. Turned a 59 into a 62. Pretty much every round I play is 2/3/4 shots short of what it should be because of the same errors (that I just don't make outside of tournaments)
Medium player status really is frustrating. I'm nowhere near bad enough to self demote and yet nowhere near good enough to contend or even make the cut atm

Weird you should say that, as I've just got a new one, and the springs do seem quite strong in it... Struggling to get fast tempo as regularly as I'm used to, and when I go for them, they have more likelihood that that the stick rebounds and the line shows up short. Playing for perfect tempo, I'm finding it easier to get more consistently straight lines than with my old pad, and having little issue with stick rebound. I'm sure this'll change when the thing beds in and I'll be back to slapping it all over the shop. TL:DR - DS4 mk2 springs are strong when new, but will likely loosen off with time, in my experience (end of UK supply chain).

I basically hit that point last year, where I had failed multiple times with multiple controllers and the only feedback I really got was that I was too straight and my passing rounds were also close to the edge and was I sure I wasn't flicking with my swing?
I had to take a break of a few weeks from all playing (not just tours) and lose a little muscle memory in my thumb. Also sitting at a different angle to the TV helped, but I really don't buy the position that a human could never fail the API with their own technique. In the end though it doesn't matter, if your swing is so straight it cannot be differentiated between that of a modified controller you are going to have to find a different way to do it.
