Just finished playing my 4 rounds. It kicked my a** as well. I was cursing my own design! I know some people aren't going to like the greens, I'm preparing for the backlash. Like I said earlier, there ARE straight putts out there, on pretty much every hole (ok maybe not 4.. I'd like to have that one back design wise.) you just need to know where to hit it.
Sorry you didn't like it, taste.

imo some of the greens are just too tricked out, if you end up on the high side, no chance at stopping the ball on the way down... very poor design aspect imo. one forced fade just to make the fairway with the driver on a 480 yard par 4 is also ill advised, this hole also happens to feature the most tricked green on the course. i do not enjoy it. You're just jealous that you're missing out on all the 55's on the PGA! (am I allowed to trash talk since I've left myself open to ridicule for the next few weeks?!) haha! i stand no chance there anyways, those fairways are very easy to miss if you are not on your A game, and missing fairways = no birdie, -60 or better will be the leader, that would be a tough thing to do under pressure.

Sorry you didn't like it, taste. was speaking with you privately and already told you, but just wanted to be clear so others know as well. i didnt mean that i didnt like the course, just a few of the holes gave me sour grapes. here is another hole (mentioned by somebody else already) that really screwed the pooch 98 times out of a 100, that should be a good shot.

Taste - why? It's a pitch from 70yds that is like 8 feet long and couple yds left. Got what it deserved in my opinion. Don't know what the green looks like in front of the hole - but to me it just looks like a hole where you should not be long and left... This type of pin is used on the real tour all the time. Ever wondered why sometimes all the pros are putting from the same spot 20 feet away on some holes? That's your reason right there.
If it is impossible to stop the ball in a reasonable way short of the hole, forget that I commented. Then you are right.

I wouldn't mind the course if it wasn't for the ball squirts that for me was much worse than at Trump National. I think its the 14th hole where driver takes you to the end of the fairway and its PW over water/rough to a front hole position. Had the ball below my feet, left to right wind and the approach just always kicked left when hit to leave a 20 odd footer with a big swinging putt. I pretty much mailed in my 3rd and 4th rounds, probably should have stopped after 2 as I had been planning on.

Played all four rounds now. Great course for tournament play! Feels like a birdie run can actually make a difference. Also punishes reckless firing at the pin.
The short par 4s are great - not the usual instabirdie but an actual test of pitching. The one that taste mentioned has room on the right, even if that leaves a knee knocker.
Only played Lunenberg in the no assists tour before and never realized just how sloped these greens are...
Thanks for making a great course - Canuck!

A shot like this literally happened yesterday on the PGA Tour. I don't remember who it was but they had a shot land in the middle of the fairway and almost come to a complete stop before rolling sideways a good 10 yards off the fairway and then an additional yard through "light rough" and another 5 yards through "heavy rough" into the water.. all at a low rate of speed too. It was strange. sh%$ happens is the moral of the story.

Greens are tricky. Just played my first ever round on this course (practise) and scored a 9 under in 12 mph winds. This course will be torn up in 2mph.

I've played -14 in a practice round with 3-8mph winds. While every pin can be fired at, people often forget that not every hole SHOULD be a birdie hole. I found a few putts, especially those extreme downhill putts you have to play differently, even putting up hill a bit to have it slowly nestle by the hole. I'm not putting to make it i'm putting to get close and avoid a three putt. If I make it, bonus. I'm okay with that. If you try for every putt you are almost guaranteed a three putt or two. There are a couple holes, #4 being one of them. I don't mind having to fade around the trees to get on to the fair way, but there is one or two trees that makes it needing a perfect shot. If you took a couple trees out on that right side where you could come around a little easier, that would make this hole much more playable. As it is now with a headwind that goes right to left, you need to go two grids over to make that shot or you have top play short with a 3 wood, in which case it is impossible to hit the green in two. While this may have been your intention, I feel like every green should be hitable in two even if it is driver/3-wood. The rest of the course I have been able to birdie each of the holes with well placed shots or great putts. The hole in question that the video showed, I think people need to get used to this type of green as Magnolia has several like this, like #9. If you play a shot that has any type of backspin, you are going to end up spinning backwards and leaving yourself a long putt or a chip. #9 on Magnolia you have to either play a chip shot if you are close enough with an 8 or 7 iron or play a loft shot normal with 1/3 the power to get it to stay. I say keep that hole the way it is. People need to learn to play the hole correctly and playing a shot with a fair amount of potential backspin is not the way to play it . Overall, it is a tough course, especially in higher winds and I anticipate a lot of wind waiting with this course. -14 is possible, but I don't think we are going to get four rounds of it. -10 I think is a fair score to shoot for if you are on your game.

Thought it was excellent - but I scored really well so I would say that! Personally enjoyed the 4th - the tee shot is a good test in differing winds. A good mix of long irons needed for 2nd shots, and well placed drives only needing a PW or 9.
Great job!
