Well, I wasn’t a fan at all of the course this week. I think that’s a combination of some weird layouts, feeling constantly between club distances, and just playing poorly all around. I never got anything going all 4 rounds. And I putted horribly to top it all off.
I’ve said it before - I’m not a designer and don’t know the first thing about it outside of it probably takes a lot of hours. Just didn’t connect with what was going on with this course.
I think those that play smart will have a chance to score well. I didn’t do that and have the mentality of trying to birdie every hole.
Best of luck to you all. My mini-streak will come to an end!

I’m away from home until Wednesday so I may or may not play this week. I should have time but we’ll see what happens.

See you guys next week. Ha! That’s great Tim. I saw where you tagged me in the PGA thread but wasn’t sure if you were serious. It kinda makes sense and maybe some more will follow you if there are as many exploits going on as it seems. the BCT is old school TGC1-ish. Grip and rip. Tempo isn’t an issue (although I still occasionally get some). It’s the most even playing field between the platforms. Took me a bit to get used to the rollouts and lack of distance. Some great players around here too. Hoping Daniel keeps playing as well! Maybe the old TGC reporter can jump in here for a comeback post....

I did think the hole where you have to carry it onto an island was strange. I go from a Driver to the 224yard club (think it was 224, not sure) so I struggled to carry the front of the island as it was into a 5mph wind. Managed to bounce through the rough though. I look forward to watching you guys competing at the top of the leaderboards. Yeah that one and another weird par 4 on the back. Just wasn’t a course I ever felt comfortable on and I got super aggressive costing me a bunch of strokes. I think I’ll end up way back of the leaders this week.

I don't use ghost balls so I don't have a clue what other players were doing but I hit driver to whatever green it was on the left. Then aimed for the cart path along the correct green to bounce or roll for the extra yardage. Fortunately all that worked for me and I was left with roughly a 50ft. third shot and a tap-in birdie. I love holes where you can think outside the box and coming up with this stuff on my own is the main reason I don't bother with ghost balls. In conclusion through 18 holes(-8) I have enjoyed the course as I agree it does have a different feel about it.

Just out of curiosity who down here does/doesn't use ghost balls? I'm not looking to start a TGC1 style debate here if they're borderline cheating or not, as I personally have never begrudged anyone for using them. I'm just genuinely curious what everyone does and if there's any particular reason why you do it that way.
For me I leave them off partly because I like to leave the guesswork in shots and partly because I'm just too lazy to turn them on and usually totally forget they're even a thing anymore.

But if the design is to hit over a building on to a different green, then use a cart path, that just feels off to me. The intent of that hole was to lay up on the island green. Just my personal preference but it felt odd is all.

I rarely ever use them. Sometimes in a society or if doing a match play style event. I find them distracting and not all that helpful. I usually play all my rounds in one sitting and very quickly, so it would feel like a ghost just gets in the way. Some folks play with them all the time. I’ve seen people stream who will always load up the top score and play along with them. Last time I used one in a TGCT event was when I was in the PGA and saw someone shot a -22...I wanted to see how they did that.

Hey guys. I checked the box again, see ya next week That’s great, welcome back. Are you guys signing up because of the new exploit thing? I didn’t bother to read in to it much, but looked like a deal breaker for sure.

It's certainly not something I would want to see regularly but it falls in as one of those quirky little things that I'm fine with popping up once every couple of months just for the sake of playing a course that feels different. Plus, I enjoy this particular quirk more than a 500+ yd. par 4 that you can't reach with beginner clubs.

I wasn't a fan of the set up for Rd 4, firm and very fast on pins that are tough to get to anyway - I think I missed 1 GIR for 54h, I'd hate to see my stats for the final 18h. Go Eric or anyone else near the top of the LB.

Go Eric or anyone else near the top of the LB. You guys played well this week. I had given up by R4 and played speed golf through the last round. I didn’t even notice the setup. I think I finished -43 or something. Looks like some big competition coming in next week!
