Round 1 in at -11. Missed two very easy putts. Round 2 in at -7. Missed one easy putt. Thinking those 3 putts will cost me a cut?! No lag in R1. Lag in spots in round two. Heaviest around the green on #18. Anywhere there were shadows seemed to drop frame rate. There was a green on the front (can't remember which) where the shadow from a tree moving around made me feel a bit queasy from all the movement when I was concentrating on finding my line.
Edit: Low lighting and high winds making long shadows that move a fair bit probably contributed to the lag (IMO - but I can only speak for myself) in R2. Don't think I noticed any lag in R1.

Totally disagree with this - Rangering is very important and saying that it doesn't matter much is just false. If we choose bad courses We've already have people hating and loving this week's course. This happens all the time - just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. Would love for you to be a scheduler and watch your best picks get ripped up week after week just like every other PGA scheduler's has. It's a thankless job - but I know not to ask you to do it as you wouldn't have the time.

I miss the days when we played good RCRs.

This is what the weather report is for - you can eliminate a good chunk of the conditions you won't face. Practicing what you will encounter is very easy to do if you make use of this feature. I do believe Dale gets excessively harassed. At the same time, this tour has used 2-3 courses with Challenge Circuit-Am level difficulty this season, which is both confusing and frustrating. These two statements can be mutually exclusive. There is a small fraction of courses that we can use that will challenge you guys - the vast majority of courses are going to get shredded by PGA players - we've had you guys say countless times that scoring doesn't matter - I've said as an admin that I also don't care about scoring (to a degree - I cringe when you guys hit the 70's). You'll continue to get a wide range of courses - some events you will just have to make birdie every hole to win, some you won't - that's just the world we live in where the top guys are throwing darts every shot.
Take Pebble Beach for instance. It has lots of undulations on its greens - it's basically as good a golf course you can get with regards to variety in its holes. It's not a cakewalk by any means but the worst score that made the cut was 43-under. The winner was 66-under. That's the normal for PGA. There will be courses that are easier and harder than Pebble Beach - it's just the nature of things when slotting in 50+ courses a season. Pebble Beach is on the CC-Pro tours in a few weeks - it'll be interesting to see the scoring for that tour on it.

People complained about Riviera when it was selected too in previous seasons - not sure about the LiDAR version as I haven't played it - but I've yet to see a LiDAR course that hasn't caused someone issues so I'm not too upset it wasn't used.

Funny you mentioned that front green shadow made you queasy. I mentioned it earlier to some friends. It actually made me a bit disoriented for a moment.

You guys would rue the day if I ever took over scheduling for the PGA. Your society is my favorite now! Exquisitely brutal but fun as hell.

Me trying to avoid a 5th strike this week so I can keep my rivalry going with Doyley.... Aaaand I think I did it. Completely imploded after the cut, but should live to see another day with a -14 and a -9 to start (Or was it -15 and -9? It was really early). Loved the challenge of the course, and thought it was really nice too. The fairways were like crumpled up pieces of paper, but it really upped the challenge. Cut should be pretty low still as that first round has some really favourable pins and slopes. Likely -21, -22? Hope all this petty arguing isn't going to ruin your concentration Doyley!

FYI - I amongst others rangered the course and didn't report any lag issues, we also test under a variety of conditions but obviously can't cover every permutation. Be aware that we test primarily for pin and lag but will highlight other issues if noticed. I'm quite comfortable giving my opinion on a courses suitability for a KF player or CC Pro player, but you PGA guys play a different game to me and there aren't enough of you as Rangers
My suggestion even though you haven't asked.. - Become a ranger, play 1 extra round a week and help the Scheduler. That round isn't wasted because you'll probably play the course a month or two later anyway, use it as practice
