I watch a lot of twitch streams. It’s a good way for me to see how people like certain courses, I can watch designers stream and see courses being created that might suit the Korn Ferry. It’s a good form of research for me. Awhile back, I came across a guy called b101 so I decided to lurk for awhile. It was a design stream and it was ok, average at best but there was no one else more interesting streaming so I stuck around. He talked a lot did Ben, an awful lot of waffle but then he said something interesting, he said it was his dream to get a course on the then web.com. I nodded to myself, at least he knows which is the cool kids tour. He then said he scheduler of the web is the most handsomest, most intelligent scheduler there is. I thought to myself, he may be new but at least he knows what’s what. He then said, part of the reason he streams is that one day he might grab the attention of the web scheduler, Daniel Blanton. I froze, I must have misheard, there is no way he could get me and other Dan mixed up. I watched the vod of the stream over and over, there was no mistake, he said Daniel Blanton. Now, other Dan is handsome, other Dan is intelligent but it’s impossible to confuse us. I came to the one and only logical conclusion. It was not a mistake, it was deliberate. That day, I swore I would have me revenge.
Over the following days, months, years, I watched Bens streams. I watched him being all plastic, I could see he was fake(because of my intelligence) but he had others fooled. He sang the praises of other designers, of players, of the tours. He was buttering them up and calling them daddy. But what he did not know was that I was watching, taking notes, waiting for the opportunity to arise, then came, the World Cup os design and Kaiuma Bay. It all became clear, as people sang the praises of his course, as people marked it down as their favourite to win, it became obvious that this was his plan all along, to win the World Cup of design. A plan came to mind, the time for revenge was upon us. I was going to put Kaiuma Bay on tour.
Taking a leaf from his book, I bought a ton of butter and praised the course, telling him how much I loved the course, that he was a master designer and it would be such a honour to be allowed to use his course on tour. I did not use a butter knife to slap it on, I used a trowel and he fell right into my trap. How is putting his course on tour, giving it more exposure getting revenge hear you ask. Well, it’s the curse of The Korn Ferry tour. Over the years, I have put design contest courses on tour and they all finished second or third. By putting Kaiuma on tour, I have shattered all his hopes and dreams. What’s my name now Ben? Huh, what’s my name now? Enjoy your second place trophy while the rest of us enjoy this truly fantastic course.
By the way, we have the first very high wind round on tour in months this week. I did not want it, i begged and pleaded for four low wind days, but Ben had a foot stamping tantrum, threatening to remove the course from tour. Normally I would just wave goodbye to the course and designer but that would have ruined my revenge. So it’s all Bens fault.
