Tim,
Yeah, PS4. Crazy long load times lately.

I believe the reason you may see this is it loads your last played course each time it boots up. If the last course you played was a highly planted, etc. course, this will be true. What I do to avoid this problem is end every gaming session with a par 3 course of 9 holes (I use the HB one as I am still trying for the hole in one trophy). My load times are minimal now. I am on the ps4 as well. Hope this makes sense and helps.

ForePlay, what is the name of the par 3 course you use?

Probably Long Pond Par 3, it's an HB Official course. And it makes a lot of sense to do that. Since that extra loading time only makes sense if you are jumping right in to the last course you played. I rarely do that, so it's just wasted time really (it's loading something you aren't going to be using right away).

Thank you Pubnight, you are correct on the name of the course. It helps a lot, the reason I use that one is only because I am still trying for the achievement(trophy) hole in one on an official course. I suppose you could easily substitute any fast loading 9 hole par3. There are a lot of great ones out now that were entered into the contest by Crazycanuk and Elz.
I have noticed the game contacting the server nearly non stop over the past two weeks. Never noticed this before.

Been having a lot of problems with Orchid Trail in the Web.com B tour this week. Taking upwards of 10 mins to load and half the time it just appears to time out and stop loading.

I had the problem with slow loading times of the game (after you press X; not the course in-game) too.
It became better again, no matter what course I finished with before turning off the game/console.
Strange...

Last night and again today, I have the same slow (or no) loading problems on all screens. Can't even get the course selection screens to load. Something must be going on with their servers . The game is constantly contacting the server.

Good news for each and every one of you this week but especially those with Xbox Ones and PCs that are struggling on some larger courses. We’ve made some significant optimization improvements over the last 7 days.
We discovered that animals, excluding birds, were taking up a huge amount of processing time while off screen. Improving this gained us quite a few frames per second.
On top of that we also improved the shadow rendering routines on objects in the distance that have a low level of detail. This gained us even more frames per second back!
Taken together with some speed improvements in the water drawing routines the game is now performing up to 40% better on some of the slower courses – plus the game is also looking better.
With these gains, we’re now looking at the impact of upgrading the Xbox One to 900p. At this point this is most likely going to be seen in the May update. So good news for everyone!
A lot of people have also been having problems with load times on some big user created courses. We’ve also improved these significantly for the next update so you’ll see the difference in those when it goes live.
Speaking of the update, here’s the latest on where we are with it. We have actually had the update finished and ready to go since the end of the last month but we’ve been held up by some red tape with another build of the game. This meant that we couldn’t have two builds of the same game in with Microsoft and Sony at the same time. We’re just waiting on word from those guys that it’s OK now to submit. The up side is that those few extra weeks wait resulted in some performance bonuses in addition to the new content, so probably worth the wait.
If any of you are going to the China Golf Show this weekend in Beijing, I’m told that The Golf Club will be there with a recreation of 3 holes from the Ho Tram Golf Course in Vietnam. This is a course that the Greg Norman Course Design Company designed in the real world and have used the Greg Norman Course Designer within The Golf Club to recreate it within the game world. It looks really great so if you’re there take a look.
