It looks a good course.
I've never got the term hidden gem. It's not like a golf course can be hidden by a sheet or a curtain. It there's in plain view for everyone to see. There's nothing hidden about them.

There's nothing hidden about them. I just mean that it’s not a well known course like Whistling or Erin Hills but the quality is unbelievable and can be accessed by the public for not a crazy amount of money

As a Chicago guy, Wild Rock is definitely on my list. Was sad I couldn't play at Keller or Royal during my time in Minneapolis last October. Both tracks look legit! lessthanbread

The course is part links style with very open fairways and undulating hills and part "championship" style. That is a good quality public course you can walk for about $50. I have also had the pleasure of playing the TPC in Blaine twice (where they hold the 3M Open) and obviously it's a phenomenal course, carries the TPC branding, designed by Arnold Palmer and Tom Lehman.. but I thought Wild Rock was even better than that course it's so good.

Can't believe the Hurdzan/Fry duo split up. Wonder if Fry/Straka or Hudzan ends up doing better in the long run...any early predictions?

So do you think Wild Rock Golf Club has LIDAR possibilities ? I'm not sure. I don't know where you get that information but if someone wants to look it would make for a really fun course.. I think it would be tough to replicate the planting and rocky textures with how much meter the LiDAR chews up though

I'm not sure it's too tough. In the right theme it could just be sunken planting, and the rocky stuff almost looks more sand-like in most spots? The course appears to have very wide hole corridors so I'd guess it's only half the meter available to work with, but if I got Black Rock done with 60-65% available this one shouldn't be impossible. That is...assuming there's data available for the course in the first place.

Generally, at least considering how many courses we have in game from there, it seems there is a very good Lidar data in Minnesota, but i don't know if it is accurate everywhere.

I thought Wild Rock was in Wisconsin? Which has some spotty LiDAR coverage as far as I'm aware of.

Yep it's in Wisconsin Dells. Minnesota does have very good LiDAR from what I have seen of the courses. Makes me very happy

Also noticed Wild Rock was voted as the top golf course in Wisconsin for 2019 by Golf Advisor www.golfadvisor.com/best-of/golfers-choice-2019-wisconsin. Not sure how "official" that is but I can believe it for how beautiful and fun it was to play. And a public course with cart for $90 at that I'd say is phenomenal. Not really a "hidden" gem anymore haha Edit: Actually read the article and the list is just for public courses but still... top public course of 2019... better than Whistling and Erin Hills apparently.

Value seems to play a big roll in Golf Advisor ratings, and it tends to be 'hidden gem' types that score best on there. It's most likely not a better course than Whistling and Erin Hills, but those courses have ridiculously high expectations to live up to.
I noticed that as well for Highlands of Elgin, which, while not a spectacular course perhaps fits that 'hidden gem' label a little bit.
