Why aren’t you the PGA scheduler? I mean, I am "defending" my one win up here this week. That is, of course, laughable considering my game right now.
But I "won" while playing the RCR of PGA West.
So I understand the current scheduler leans towards original creations. No problem there.
But... this one seems quite ideal to replace the Scottsdale event a couple of weeks from now, even from my lazy mans eye. I have no problem with this course, it just replaced the wrong event is all.
Edit: I would never want the job to schedule courses on this tour and understand the ridicule is crazy because as Abe said: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.”
Having thick skin is probably the #1 requirement to do this.
But (but!, butt!!!) I also understand that PGA West has the designer taking some "liberties" on the greens as that is that persons' thing. I can see why this one is excluded. Torrey Pines has that weird water thing on #18 and maybe that is why it was excluded. Other RCRs may have things that the specific RCR we have available has excluded it in the schedulers eyes. But! (BUTT again!)
Consider that even good original courses have "issues" as well, even when they play well. A RCR plays well naturally for the most part when done reasonably well and most things take care of itself.
TGCTours owes its longevity towards the designer community and the fact that we have a designer tool available for our gifted folks that give us courses.
My only thing is that among 10 or so tours/tiers available, we should have more RCRs available at the tour that is called PGA. For those that did not qualify for the Presidents Cup or the TOC event, they have barely played an actual "PGA" event that matched the actual IRL PGA event. I understand that it is not available sometimes and that is perfectly understandable. But getting into the swing here where we are playing a bit more well known courses you would think that we would play them more frequently.
*off my little soapbox*
Sorry for calling you out on this coruler2 but my TLDR is that I think we need a bit more RCR representation. I also reiterate that I would never want your scheduling job, so take it with a grain of salt. Nothing against the course for this week. Just seems like this is RCR season. Riviera is a great course and we aren’t playing it. Torrey isn’t bad it just has the pond glitch. We keep trying to play new courses every week when we have established stalwarts at our disposal.

My opinion on course selection is, this game is still played pretty much because of the great courses being created. Therefore, why not use new courses. Give a new designer a chance to see how it's course stacks up against the best Ps4 players in the world and the other lesser cpu and xbox players. I designed a few and can't believe what they are coming out with lately. Just gorgeous creations.

I agree with this to a point, but I wish that we wouldn’t keep picking stuff that’s artificially tricked up with tumours all over the greens, pins on mounds etc, then compound it with settings the courses were never intended to be played on. In honesty, and this is just my personal preference, I’d always take an RCR over a “better” course - assuming the RCR isn’t totally retarded. The closer we mimic real life events the better, for me at least. All the great designs have their place on tours, societies, special events etc and some of the quality is outstanding. Not disagreeing there at all.

In practice, we have played far too many 2nd rate fictional courses this season (and last season, as it goes)
2nd rate sounds really mean, but that's not my intention. Most of them are perfectly good, far better than anything I could ever dream of producing....but they are far from the best available to us.
And that (IMO) is because they offer manufactured difficulty to "challenge" PGA players.
The last 3 words of your post tell a story too - "Just gorgeous creations". You're right, the courses being designed are works of art. But looking at them and playing them are two very different things. Whenever I visit the completed courses forum I see a lot of people quite rightly admiring the work that has gone in, the sculpting, the planting, the landscaping etc etc.
But how much thought is given to how X/Y/Z holes will play when it is (inevitably) jacked to very firm/187 in a 20mph wind and even the best players in the game physically can't hold the green?

Had a -16 in round 1, almost thought I remembered how to play this game.
Then I played round 2. Pretty packed leaderboard in the medium section this week. Cut made anyway

Thanks! I'm sure HB will find a way to sh%$ on me! I was going to play another on Tuesday, but I couldn't take it anymore. I was stressed over every stupid bender. I was mad at myself for hitting questionable shots on a few holes. I'll probably get on it in the morning. Also, in regards to 16, I had/have no idea how to play it. In Round 2 I hit a max-lofted 5 iron with a 1/4 box of fade and landed in the rough. It got a great bounce, but NEVER quit rolling. The 144 in Round 2 felt WAY faster than that to me. I'm sure it just had to do with the slope of the greens, but man! I also didn't care for Pin 2 on 17. I played 18 like a mong the 1st time around. Had 53 yards and 20 feet down. Max-loft LW pitch with fade like normal, but I guess I MJF'd the fade and me ball went 20 feet right of my intended area. That was my only "dumb" shot. The others I just had the wrong club a few times but they worked out ok. I don't mind the course, but I find it kind of "odd" in places.

Most angry I've got at this game in a while. -12 then -9 for -21 and missing the cut. Missed about 5 straight-forward putts on the 2nd round. Also lipped out for eagle 3 times on R1. On another day I could've been at -30 but it was just one of those days. Probably shouldn't have jumped straight in after not playing for ~9 days. See you next week.

In certain circumstances you can get stuck under the water in the pond in front of the 18th green if you roll back into it from the false front.
