Started off hot in R1 then yipped a bunch of putts in R2 then some more wonky swing lines and less yipped putts in R3. Holed a few out for eagle somewhere along the way. R4 back to warmish playing with an alby on one of the par 5s. Putted off the green nearly on one par 5 but my fault for not being cautious enough. Fun course. Reasonably challenging. Greens were fine. No complaints. Winner might get to -60.

Been playing like prime Sergio Garcia for the last month or so and it's infuriating. Ball striking has been so good every week and I can contend if the putter catches any heat, but it's mostly been sh*t. I struck the ball so incredibly well outside of the front 9 in round 2. I was basically placing the ball exactly where I wanted it on every green. But I legitimately missed 12 birdies from inside 12 feet and probably made 1 putt over 20 feet.
If I just putt fairly well, I think I could've won this week because my distance control was so, so good.
Think I came in at -52. Might place okay but some people are going to tear this course to pieces if they can take care of the tricky down sloped greens. I like the course a lot outside of 16-18. Not sure what happened there. 3 straight greens that are just unreasonably sloped severely from front to back.
I see the winner being around -64.

-12 and -8.... Cut watching at best. Guessing the cut line is between -19 and -22.

Comfortable cut for me this week I suspect at -26. Drifted after that to finish at -43.
Agree with Tyler that 16 and 17 are horrific greens, 18 is also not great (but at least there are options to give you a chance to hit it close)
Pin positions at 2 and 7 in the last round are a disgrace as well.
But other than that - finally some nice varied, sensible conditions - so good job overall Dale.

Why did we stop playing RCR's? Would have been a nice change to play PGA West, Torrey pines, Scottsdale and pebble and Riviera over the next 5 weeks. I would rather shoot low on those courses rather than play the courses we are currently playing and still guys are shooting-60.

58-60-60-63 - 47 under total.
Struggled on the Front 9, made up for it on the Back 9 in pretty much every round. Inconsistent on the greens - made some nice ones but missed way too many from short range.
Still, cut made and a mid table finish is better than i've done lately.
Course was fine but if we are meant to play the best courses up here it struck me as an odd choice, especially when as Shoey says there are perfectly good RCR's that provide at least as much of a challenge

Played well through the first 2.5ish rounds. Then the lip outs came...and came...and came...had at least 8 in the final 27 holes. So depressing. Oh well, I enjoyed the course! Finished at -55. Good luck everyone!

So yesterday I was trying to get my putting working again, played a bunch of courses, was having 30+ putts in almost every round. Played a practice round this morning, had a 5-putt on the third hole. Played the first round, 3-putted the first hole, missed 5 putts between 8 and 12 feet (3 lip-outs) and my finger slipped on 18 and I left a 1-foot par putt 4 inches short (that was after missing the 8 foot birdie). Just keep getting worse every week. I'll play the second round but I think I'm probably already on my way down to Euro.
I was never a good putter, but this is the worst I've been in all the years I've played.
EDIT: Ended up going -5/-11. Can't really see that avoiding a strike. I was really excited to be back up here after missing all the majors last season, now I'll probably miss them again.

I basically agree with this take. I think hole 16 would be OK if it was not ever played with a front pin and was more of a one off. 17 I did not like. 18, mostly fine because the downslope plays into the strategy of where to hit the tee shot to leave the right approach but feels repetitive after the other two.
Overall though I think it is a good design, not as good as the Bora Bora course we played last year, but it requires a good mix of shot types.
Through two rounds I was basically your opposite. Could rarely leave myself in the right spots but made a ton of breaking mid range putts. Should be right in it if I play just as well over the last 2 rounds.

*blinks as the new week has started unexpectedly, meaning he's gotta start practicing soon.* "Awww, man! I'd just gotten all the puppies to climb into the cannon."
*Update* Two rounds. Not a great first round -6, just couldn't do anything. Came back with -11 for a total -17. Probably another cut missed. And the puppies weren't there when I got back from the round.

-9 first round left a few out there...2nd round made a lot of putts i normally don't make and had 3 eagles on the back 9 including a pitch in from like 56 yards on the last hole for a -15...-24 should be fine

Yeah that front pin seemed literally impossible on 16 and the 4th round one was also impossible to get within 40 feet as far as I know. 17 was just brutal with a long iron. 18 I didn't even notice first round, but then 2nd and 3rd round I couldn't keep a pitch and a flop on the right tier. 4th round I finally laid up to leave a full wedge and hit an absolutely perfect gap wedge and it still rolled down to the next tier lol. If they were separated it probably wouldn't have mattered, but three in a row was frustrating. First 15 holes were lovely really.
